Thank you for being careful to tell and show all steps (for not assuming we know how to do certain steps). ie: using a measure stick, cutting the fish, tilling, throwing lime, etc. You are good instructors...Most helpful to us beginners. Be Blessed.

My Daddy was born and raised on a farm in Southwest Georgia. He helped me with my first little garden in the backyard when I was 8 years old. It was very small approx 4 ft x 6 ft but I loved it. I wish I had picked Daddy and Grandaddys brain more about farming, they were awesome. Looking forward to seeing them again one day in Heaven.
Glad you are gardening, it is on your DNA just like me. Hang with us on our channel, we will be releasing many more videos that may help you. Have a blessed day😇

I love you how incorporate scripture and give glory to God in your video. I have been gardening for about three years and love it. For the first time this year I started my peppers inside from seed then planted outside when temps warmed up. My plants are doing better than ever and I saved a ton of money buying two seed packets vs $3 or $4 pepper plants each.

I have found the more Loam soil is the easier plants grow and take to nutrients. Every year I get a bail of hay or straw and mix in to makes soil naturally loam consistency and use a layer of hay 2-3 inches around plants trunk for temp regulation and Water retention both in one function.
Also do you ever use mycorrhiza fungi ?
It if mixed in the soil near root when plants are small helps plant significantly thru growth term of its life. Search it out ad apply some next spring and you will see a wonderful difference it makes .

I like to make fish emulsion. I throw about 5-8lbs of fish in a bucket, add about 3 gallons of water. 2 cups of brown sugar. Cover and let sit for a few months, stirring once a week or so. Mix a cup full of the juice with 2 gallons of water to apply.

If you have a bait and tackle shop near you check them out. Frozen bait fish is much cheaper than grocery store fish. Check out your areas for fresh fish markets, they will give you fish heads and guts which is an excellent fertilizer. Enjoy your garden today, we are stuck inside (raining for the next 3 days )

Hollis & Nancy's Homestead my Mother & Father always had garden when I was growing up! My Father always buried all the guts heads scales etc.. from the fish we caught in the garden telling us that it's why his plants alway produced lots of & big vegetables! I have grown gardens since I moved out of my parents house 20+ years ago. the past few years I've been unable to grow a garden due to illness. this year I'm growing a garden again. I had forgot about the fish until I watched you planting squash! the white bass are starting to run & the crappie will be spawning soon too! I'm going to have beautiful garden! thanks for helping me remember lessons taught all those years ago. helping Mom & Dad in the garden! I remember picking carrots an asking" is it okay to eat?" hearing "yes rinse all the dirt off with the hose first" years later I remember watching my dad sitting in his lawn chair watering his tomatoes & how proud he was of his gardens! he's been gone now almost 19 years. Thanks again for the trip down memory lane!

    Hi Hollis
CT is going to be hot for the next few years as the ocean temps have gone from cold to hot off the coast of Africa. That means pepper weather for the NE! :-). I am growing peppers in my 2nd year garden and they are doing quite well. I really want to do fish for fertilizer next year. That may be one way I can get my hubby out on the water again. He needs to go fishing!

Grew peppers with great success last year. I'm going at it again this year with expanded crops, including some hot chillis (reapers and ghosts)! Question: in your reaper video you mention topping them at planting. have you talked about the benefits of topping them in detail in any video? i hear it's good to promote bushing. i'm just not sure how much is enough and how much is too much.

I really enjoy your videos. I came across them because now that I'm retired, I've decided to grow our own organic vegetables. I like the idea of using fish - makes so much sense. How do you decide when to use fish and when not. The spinach in container and the spinach in the ground, I noticed that in the container you didn't use fish, but in the ground, you did. I was wondering if I should use pieces of fish in the containers. Thank you so much! I also enjoy Nancy's cooking videos - you're both great!

As a general rule of thumb, I don't use fish in containers because they take too long to break down. They breakdown very quickly in the ground but in the containers they seem to take much much much longer

I see. That makes sense. Then, would I need to use a liquid fertilizer in containers, or it's not necessary if using good soil? Thank you so much.

When planting in containers add Bone Meal and Blood Meal in with the soil. In three weeks after planting hit them with fish emulsion and you will be off to the races 👍

Love the videos. I would love to have your garden space. I only have about a 8x10 area that I'm going to try and grow most of it vertically. Want too many different vegetables and not enough groung.

You can get a lot of food from an 8x10. Throw in some containers around the yard where you can find a spot for them

Hi! I'm planting my first vegetable garden this year. Your video was really helpful but I have one question. Do you prune the peppers at any point? I've come across some who say do and others who say don't. Id love your input. Thank you so much! Have a blessed day!

You can cut the top of the plant off after it is growing before they start showing blooms. This is called “Topping” the plant. I have tried it both ways and I have just as much harvest weather I top them or not. So, in my opinion, it’s not needed👍

How long do it takes for the fish to break down into fertilizer?

Are fish good fertilizer for all plants? Are there any that they are not good for?

Thanks for the video. I thank God that He directed me to your site. What is the powder you put in over the fish? My wife and I have not had the best of luck with peppers or tomatoes and are planning on incorporating your techniques to see if we can get a better harvest. Any tips on growing fall squash (butternut, kabachoa) for a good yield? We live in East Texas, first frost is usually in early November. Thanks again. God bless.

It was garden lime. It also adds calcium which helps prevent blossom end rot.

When our classroom fish died, I did this with my first graders. Made the death not so sad when they got to see the plant grow in the school garden. 🐟❤️🌼Love your videos! Thank you!

Very informative and helpful.. Thanks a lot!!! You explain things very well .... hope we will have good peppers this year... It is May now, is it good time or too late to put pepper plats now in the ground?

If the weather in your area is warm and you are past the last frost date then go ahead and plant them

Thank you so much for this video! I am just doing my real first garden I need your advice. I got 5 pepper plants planted and 5 cucumber plants so what size tomato cages do I need? My cucumber plants are bush crops and only get 1 to 2 feet. I got those small plants bc i have a small raised bed so would a tomato cage work?
