    I hope this video communicates this concept well. This is something that a lot of us (self included) struggled and learned to nullify the thought before it has time to get into our head and initiate the "WASTE TIME mode"... I started practicing the "NOT ON MY WATCH" mentality with getting rid of thoughts 'on the front end' which has helped elevate every aspect of what I do daily...whether it be personally or professionally. I hope it is helpful guys. Study HARD! KEEP MOVING FORWARD!!

    Thanks Dr RANDY that example you gave is a thought that sneaks on me all the time and like you said moments of anxiety depression or lost of focus ….ill practice this simple advice . I’m actually trying to find ways to cut the idea …I’ll give this a try

      Actually it's much easier to put into practice... just be 'consistent'... If the thought doesn't serve you...then "be gone" with it.

    I study medicine, dr neil. The sad news is that I've got a genetic disease called pachydermoperiostosis. In the past, luckily I didn't encounter much joint pain, and I was able to get into med school. But now I'm encountering severe neck pain and that really makes it difficult to sit on a chair and study. Now I've started missing on my exams.
    I would appreciate your suggestion, and how to get away with all of this. Also how to manage the pain and a new outlook on living with it. I'm 19 years old by the way.

    Why do regrets hit the hardest during studying or before going to sleep?

    • @RandyNeilMD
      @RandyNeilMD  2 года назад

      Stress can make us 'default' to a mode of 'worse case scenario' and 'victim mentality'... but we can STOP IT IN ITS TRACKS.

    What if you know about the thought and have distinguish it, and still can't get rid of it. For example like being jeolus of someone for doing things better than you, have better friends then you, everything that you wanted to become in future the ideal personality that you wanted to create is somehow that person have it all and you now hate him for it. Then would you recommend a professional for this state of mind or something else?.

    Thanks, Dr. Neil. I have ruminating thoughts constantly and sometimes they even feel like they transport me back to that stressful moment. I noticed that they were affecting my concentration during my study time, so I started trying to stop them. So I would recognize the thought, sometimes at the beginning and sometimes at the end when I have already lost a lot of time. Then I would ask myself where I was and what I was doing so I could come back to the present. It got worst before it got better. Now I still have them, but less than before. With practice, I have been able to recognize them much, much earlier. I didn't think this was a thing. Your video reassured me that I am applying something that works. Now I am studying more effectively for my USMLE exam.
