When you first talk to The One True King, he gives you a choice:

When you first talk to Nimue, she offers Dialogue to either:
- Accept her death, killing Nimue
- "What other choice is there", Nimue tells of "Fate", offers a Vow, kill The One True King.

Mechanic - "Breaking his Hammer"
The One True King swings his 2h hammer at you.
If you shoot his hammer, it weakens the chains that hold alive Fae to it - tormented.
Destroying the Chain releases 1 tormented Fae, who then strikes The One True King causing him to fall down to one knee, stunned.
This is called, "Breaking his Hammer".

Alternate Reward - Agony Spike - Monarch - Long Gun
Simply defeat The One True King while he is walking around attacking you.
Talk to McCabe in Ward 13 to craft Monarch, long gun.

NOTE:
Do NOT "Break his Hammer" when he is close to low health, or risk the released tormented Fae striking him to deal the final killing blow - which rewards the other Alternate Reward.

Alternate Reward - Tormentor's Pommel - Wrathbringer - 2h Melee
TLDR: Have the released tormented Fae deal the killing blow.
Rewards, Tormentor's Pommel.
McCabe in Ward 13 will craft you Wrathbringer, 2h Melee.
Get The One True King down to low health first.
Now, "Break his Hammer" when he is on low health.
This will release a tormented Fae chained to his Hammer.
The released Fae will strike The One True King, bringing him to one knee.
When performing this when he is at Low Health will cause the released Fae to deal the final killing blow, rewarding, Tormentor's Pommel.

Additional Reward - Gift Of The Unbound amulet
First, agree to do The One True King's bidding, to Kill Nimue, when you first talk to him.
This gives the Quest Item, Rod of Retribution.

Now continue to find Nimue.
When talking with Nimue, select the Dialogue "what other choice is there?" when telling her you are there to do his bidding.
Agree to Nimue's alternate "fate" choice she offers you.
This gives you the item, Nimue's Vow.

Now return to The One True King to defeat him while you have Nimue's Vow in your inventory.
On death of The One True King, Nimue's Vow becomes, Nimue's Blood-Marred Vow.

Nimue rewards you Gift Of The Unbound.

Defeat The One True King before you even speak to Nimue.
Do this by choosing the dialogue option to Defy the King's bidding when you speak to him for the first time.
Once you defeat the King, then go find and talk to Nimue who is chained up in the Lighthouse.
