Nice Zero! It needs just a bit more range before I will purchase one. Test drove one a couple of years ago. Loved it. Thank you for the removal and installation. I am in the process of removing the Norcold N641. I did not see the two screws in the back on the bottom. I knew something was keeping the unit from sliding out. My wife wants a larger 10 cu ft refrigerator. Looking at the AC / 12 vdc models, there are 24 inch wide but taller ones. Without propane there is much more depth which is what she wants. The location on our 2001 24V - Winnebago Minnie has lots of space above and below to accommodate the future one. The RV is going through a bunch or renovations to meet our requirements and to update the technologies when possible. Again, thank you for the video. Enjoy your Zero!
MAKE A WOODEN PLATFORM!!!!! I built a small table/stand/platform to slide the units onto. 1/2" lower than unit (mine was: 22" high 36" wide 24" deep Adjust size to fit your available space. The larger, the better. Big enough for the whole unit if possible. It is FAR easier just to slide fridge out onto same height platform, and then move it in from there. Also, when you find something you didn't disconnect (icemaker?), you can leave the unit partially out of the opening without having to hold it, while you take care of any issue. Also, it is FAR easier to set the new unit on the platform, then slowly slide it in. You can adjust the platform height while you are in progress by putting wood scraps under the platform feet, such as chunks of 1/2" plywood. Best to first remove doors and all racks, etc. on new and old units. This also works when putting the same unit back in after working on water lines or something under or behind it. (my water line split in a super-cold freeze) Good luck with your project!
I had the same issue with removal. Was that a putty knife? I will take that next attempt. I hope it works. Thanks brother for the video. You gave me a direction
@allewton it was really throwing me off. Knowing how crazy these are put together, I was wondering if they sunk a forbidden screw somewhere hidden and I didn't trust using force
Just to be sure, I show screws that have to be removed on the inside of the camper. I also show after that, there are 2 more screws holding the refrigerator down in the outside access area.
@allewton yea I removed all of thoes. The problem with my norcold refrigerator was at first it only worked on lp, found the resistor above the AC fuse was burned up.. I replaced it and 2 days later it burned up again in the same place. I tested the heating element and the ohms were correct. So it threw me in for a loop until I pulled out the heating element and the plastic around it was cooked to a crisp. My guess was that heat from the propane was leaking out around there cooking the plastic off and the wires were contacting the tin casing. So I tried removing it but got to where you were at in your video where it was rocking from the top but the bottom wouldn't budge. So I am going to take this information and take another Crack at it because there is no room at all for me to replace the heating element.
Gotcha I guess they tend to want to stick down. Someone in the comments suggested if you had a second person, then they could push from the outside while you try pulling. Sounds like you got it!
What type of gas line did you use? Has it help up? Replacing ours this week. Did you need to buy certain fittings for the gas line? Thanks! Great video
@@allewton thanks to the reply, guess my cooler shot the crap. Not looking forward to taking it out. But has to be done ✅ lol I would have taken that bathroom door off or it would have got torn off the hinges about 30 seconds in. Merry Christmas
@@ivanetherton8514 yes, I should've taken the door off prior to the removal, and it was a no brainers, I did remove it before installing the new model that is still working good. Now I'm up on Seattle. I shot the video in South Dakota. Merry Christmas to you as well.
6 months ago. Guess I’m confused why anyone would spend that kind of money for another propane absorption fridge rather than upgrading to a 12v compressor fridge.
Depends on your electrical configuration. If your rig has solar panels and plenty of lithium power storage, sure, a 12v compressor fridge may be the way to go. However, if you have only lead acid batteries and plan on boondocking or staying somewhere without electrical hookups, your refrigerator run-time is severely limited by the number and size of your batteries. Plus, your refrigerator shares that battery power with all other 12v appliances, lights, furnace, etc. With my 20 pound propane tank I can run the refrigerator and cook on the gas range for at least 8 days. Using my 2 deep-cycle batteries the refrigerator would probably give up after 2 days.
Thanks, that was quite informative. Great video!
I’m glad this video exists. With all the struggling being shown. That’s what i was looking like lol.
Great vid! Just a little hard work, but seems straightforward and simple in the end.

Great info ! ( nice bike 😉)
You could push it forward from the back or you could use the door/hinge to lift.

Yes, the hard putty knife did it. With the putty knife, it was very easy. I just had to struggle first! Thanks.

I would take to doors off old fridge off first.
That is a great suggestion. Yes, first thing! thank you
Great job, thx for the video...
Pry bar.
Did u take the screws out of the back of the freezer to get to release from the wall ? Didn’t see u take them out ?
Thanks for the comment. Yes, about the 5 minute 10 seconds mark I point to the empty holes and mention that I removed the screws.
