If you want people to like it, you need to change it enough so that it's unique and fresh, but not so much that it's excessive or unrecognizable. Only Billy Preston excelled, another great talent now gone.
I mean they were really inventive/picked up the best new stuff and were incerdible songwriters/ great singers and capable with their instruments( all played exactly what was needed, tho they usually didn't do much flashy stuff). In all of those things you probably have better bands, but no band did all of this, also with 13 albums with 200+ songs in 7 years. Tell me what other band would be able to release Rubber Soul, Revolver Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour in two years.
I have tried to compare the covers of MJ, Aerosmith Gary Clark and also this one and i have to say out of a neutral sight,that this is in my opinion the best version....it still has the original smooth melody in the background and is getting very powerful in the come together part!

To clean, to modern, slightly too fast, too short, the solos sound all wrong too,shame, much of their own music is actually good, and legit-indie. It's not as bad as Aerosmith mind you, I would tolerate it live.
influences matter little, Jeff Buckley was influenced by the Smiths who were largely garbage, Paul Kossoff's hero was Eric Clapton who I don't hold in particularly high esteem. Nevertheless Buckley and Kossoff are two incredible musicians. I'd have to disagree with you also in that Pink Floyd are the greatest band ever.
