I have the 2024 CBs and they are amazing. Consistently shooting 93-95 (weekend golfer) now with these irons. They feel great and are pretty forgiving. I would recommend these clubs

Purchased the 2020 Blade after your review and still have them in the bag. Best iron i've ever owned. Now you've got me thinking.....Darn.

It's great to see that Wilson has stood the test of time in a very competitive marketplace, and they are a lovely looking iron. It's just a pity that Wilson isn't aggressive enough in pushing their products

CB might be a contender in the future especially as I have the Wilson factory close by. Currently gaming the 620CB and Titleist managed to keep the topline very close to the MBs. Seems like Titleist follows same release cycles so hope to see new models this year. 🧐

I use the Wilson blades from 2019 and are best clubs ever used. Soo soft and very forgiving for a blade.

I totally agree about the emblem. As soon as I saw it, I didn't like the emblem change. I would pick the old club over the new ones every day of the week.

Yeah same. I’m thinking about getting a set of the new CBs this fall/winter, but I really wish they had the W/S emblem. It may not look as “clean” as the new one, but that logo has a ton of history. I’ve never really played Wilson before, but my grandfather did, and taking away that W/S takes away from the history of the brand IMO.
I think they did it to “hide” the fact that those beautiful clubs are made by Wilson and not a major manufacturer. So if someone sees them in a bag they would have to ask what brand they were.

Great review! I have the Tour V6s. I love the feel, the look behind the ball. These new Wilson Staff irons look amazing, and from the sound of your review, feel and perform as beautifully as ever. Maybe it's time for new irons!

I've been waiting for your Wilson review, Michael. But I just couldn't wait this long. So, I already play a combo set of 2024 Wilson Staff Model blades and CBs, with a Forged D9 4i. These are awesome clubs that feel incredible (as good as the Mizunos I also tested) but at a much more reasonable price-point than a Mizuno, TM, Titleist, Callaway, etc.
I don't really notice more 'forgiveness' with the mid-iron CBs, but they do instil a little more confidence behind the ball. The D9 feels just as good too, and is still a very compact head, and blends/combos really nicely. The major visible change with the 2024 blade is that the milling on the back matches the central (deeper) milling on the CB, so aesthetically they blend much better than the previous models did. I thought I'd miss the retro-nod of the little diamonds on the face, but I don't, and with the alluminium ferrules I fitted, they look very clean and sharp indeed.

Love Wilson clubs. Play D9 forged currently. Always loved the look of the blades but as a 9 handicap I'm not consistent enough to use them. Might buy a 7 iron just so I can confirm what I already know 😂

Might get a set of blades. I used to play Mizuno blades in the 90's TP-9's, Mp-14s, then MP-33's, then went to the forged/cavity hybrids(Titleist AP2, etc) like alot of people did. But I like the idea of going back to something like these.

Just ordered a set of the CB's, interestingly get really similar numbers out of these than my Cobra Forged Tec irons. I think perhaps the added loft actually doing me some favours with my swing speed/shaft combo. Never hit anything so sweet! Great review.

We need a WITB :) I also preferred the old badge and the diamond shapes to frame the groves but otherwise the blades look amazing. PW-9-8 in the blades and 8 to 4 in the Dynapower forged would be a potentially interesting set for me :) Shame there is so little Wilson fitting places around me

I have the previous CBs and as far as I am concerned I don’t see the need to pay more other manufacturers irons. Essentially you are paying for their marketing and the players who use them but they aren’t any better. In golf as well as other sports there is brand snobbishness and quite frankly it is their loss by not trying them. Wilson have some great irons out at the moment and I’ve never read or watched a bad or mediocre review of any of them, they’ve all been very highly praised.

To be honest I do preferer the looks of the previous model. Not just the change to the badge logo but the diamond punching on the face was a touch of class and a homage to the companies outstanding history . Wilson make some fantastic irons but Golf is a very small part of there business as we all know so finding stock to demo in the U.K can be a challenge.

Big Wilson fan right here. I love the look of the Staff Models, but as a mid handicapper, I'll stick to my D9 Forged Wilsons (which are fantastic clubs too).

    • @rufussthoo4083
      @rufussthoo4083 2 месяца назад +1

Chris, your handicap isn't a measure of your ball-striking, just you ability to score. If you strike the ball reasonably well, you could certainly consider moving in to the CBs in the shorter irons. They are more lofted than the D9s though so you'd need to fiddle about a bit to get the transition gapping right, but that isn't hard.
