The only guy on RUclips actually showing how to install, but also not trying to scare you away from doing it yourself. No cut aways or just showing one section. Thanks Chris for your constant expertise and willingness to share your extensive knowledge.
Doing PPF reminds me of the days of phone screen protectors that were PTFE and you did “Wet” install method. Funny thing is; even today with the tempered glass screen protectors out there, I miss the old PTFE and Wet install method protectors. Imo, they installed easier, quicker, & loved the self healing on them. But tempered glass is king right now. Thx CK for this demo, brings back memories, & like the new PPF w/ color now that you did; now that was killer👍🏻 Cheers✌🏻
Its always fun to see you acknowledge your human mistakes.your pro level wrapp instaler and you still dont hide common mishaps to make yourself sound perfect ,thats pretty cool &viewers need to see these comon bits because i wold def make thos misshaps 100% otherwise
Reality versus social media is a huge gap is most situations. I try to keep that gap tightly closed. It's important to me that my viewers understand the reality of things.
I find the biggest contributing factor is driving habits .The closer you drive behind people the more impacts occur . And the more a person is impatient they tend to hug your rear bumper . I learned my lesson driving behind a dump truck full of gravel and they didn’t clean off the spill on the bumper . The windshield looked like a spiderweb
That PPF looks really easy to work with......or is it just me? For sure one thing i want to learn how to do and for sure if i do i will go to one of your training sessions
Ty for ypur vids mate, they are awsome. One question, bee working with ppf for a year now and i utilise Stek, dont know if you have used it before, but if you have, how does this ppf compares to it? Ty beforehand.
Man, can't get enough of your videos but I am demoralized today. I attempted to wrap my silverado hood yesterday with my son's help (vvivid satin black) and it was either too large or tall or too advanced for me to try as I had only practiced on a smaller front end piece. Failed hard and cursed a few thousand times! I still have enough to try again, wondering if I should I just take to someone nearby who is a pro and will they even use my vinyl? thx for the education sir.
i use a heat gun on a low setting to seal and wrap my edges. you can definitely get yourself in a pickle very fast with your much heat for sure. i find installing in a colder shop hot water it my friend to get it to relax. also use my steamer to get the hard valleys down. i agree with no purpose of the cap sheet on ppf a big waste and a lot of plastic. our 3m line we use thankfully they don’t use a cap sheet but some of our 60” wide is capped
Hey mate! Been watching your vids for about a month now.. decided to give it a go... Bought myself KPMF purple/black matte... Problem is.. my 2022 Elantra kicked my ass... I tried a small testing piece and it took me over 2 hours on the hard parts of the trunk.. HOW THE HELL YOU MAKE IT LOOK SO EASY??? guess I will try again tomorrow but if you can give a few pointers on how to tackle this when I try a bigger piece I will appreciate it a lot.. tried to glass it but i have 2 high points on both sides and a high point at the tip above the symbol and between I have a curved low point so.. yeah.. filled with air😅 sorry for the long and messy comment, a little frustrated.. have a great week bud
Hi Chris. I am going to embark on my first wrapping attempt on my NC Miata because of all of your fantastic videos. Front bumper, rear spoiler , mirrors and the hood or at least part of it. My question is about the hood and PPF. If I do all the hood, this isn't an issue. If I do a carbon fiber inlay in the center relief area of the hood, similar to the Land Rover you did 4 years ago with knifeless tape but having the front exposed and not wrapped under an edge, can I put PPF over the hood and that carbon fiber section and will it have any issue at those edges around the carbon fiber. It will protect it from water and wind which is my intent. Do I have to worry about water getting in the CF as I apply the PPF? I have not found a video of you putting PPF over an exposed edge of another wrap like carbon fiber yet to know of any pitfalls I might encounter.
I watched the whole video and still dont see where it was justified to charge $1700+ for a FILM? That price is beyond ridiculous. Cost of production is most likely within $100 range for it.
actully sir its 2000 to 2500 to wrap a front and material cost is roughly 450-500 dollers, takes years of experiance....that being said this might not be a product for you..
Great video. While I love ppf when new, how much of a pain is it to remove when old and even worse past "old"? With that said what is the life of ppf if it's sitting outside all the time in direct sunlight? Thanks.
If car is extremelt exposed to sunlight 5 years max , beyond 5 years PPF removal will be a mess and the whole thimg will come off like crakced plastic. I just saw a car with PPF for 7 years removed and it was horrible and labour intensive.
This video was superb! lots of tips and very good guidelines to follow to do this well, thank you! I have a question though, I have a matt carbon wrap on my hood and roof, is there a way to make it gloss somehow like maybe super glaze or some other coating that I can apply or do I need to PPF my carbon wrap so its glossy?
Bro. When you peel from a table. I always squeegee the end of the film. And then spray it again. It makes it stick to the wall/table more meaning it doesn’t drag when you pull it 👍😀
Hey bud thanks for the videos, im going to tackle my chrysler 300c crd, never wrapped before. Confident ill do a satisfying job only intimidating sections are the front bumper and potentially rear bumper. Any expirience/advice you have from similar or same car?
Great video. Do you think if a person prepped a hail damaged car (filling dents, sanding, etc) PPF could make car presentable? Maybe not perfect but acceptable daily driver? Thanks.
My question could be stupid, but I definitely do not know in wich case we have to use water/soap solution in wrapping ? Sometimes people use a spray sometimes not ... ? Someone could explain to me ?
Hey Christian, any wrap shops in Los Angeles area you would recommend? Your cuts and trimming techniques have set the bar…now I just can’t believe there’s other shops that have the same work ethic as you…
Hey. Been watching your vids for years. Going to wrap my 65 mustang. Can you point me to a video that shows a closeup of you cutting the edges. You say back of the blade against the car which I'd like to see what you mean.
The back of the blade is the side Thats not cutting the vinyl, you slide this part of the blade across the body panel opposite of the one youre working on. This leaves you with enough vinyl to truck in, doesnt damage paint and Provides a clean cut
Vicrez, have you seen the display hood wrapped on the website in pink? My lord, for a display you'd think you would want to actually get someone who knows how to wrap
I don't agree with the heat gun thing for PPF. We use it all the time for locking down edges and corners. For sure it's used completely different than in vinyl wrapping but heatgun doesn't necessarily crack TPU versus PVC. For PPF, a heatgun is used to lock down edges and tight corners. For vinyl which you're more of an expert, I think you use heatguns or torches to preheat and also postheat to break memory in the vinyl? Sorry we're not vinyl wrapping experts......
I use a heat gun as well on PPF but it's like you said, only for edges and corners to lock it down for a bulk install. What I mean in the video is that using a heat gun to stretch the PPF can cause cracking.
Question: I put down a protective film (3M) on the side of my bikes gas tank. I messed it up and its kind of crooked. Is there a way for me to straighten it? Like, what happens if i heat it up and try pealing it. Would it stick back on it? TIA!
I’ve been installing Paint protection for over 15 years. This technique is very rough. Not sure how you can train with this method. It’s not vinyl but you are treating it like it.

You can use coffee filters to absorb the mosture on the final wipe. They are lint free and cheap

TPU screen protectors are ruling the roost again. Tempered glass protectors were all the rage a couple of years back, but not now.
I've been installing them for the last 2+ years here in NB! Both clear & matte options surely enough! Company I work for calls them Smart Shield

On a mid size sedan, what would you say the average cost is to wrap the entire thing in PPF

Not sure to go with gloss black or Satin Black on my engine hood What’s better hiding dust and maybe water spots 🙏✌️🇨🇦
Is the film resistant to bird droppings? can i apply a sticker over ppf ?
i tried their site last week when I found one of their vids.. the site is not working : (

who manufactures your spray bottles?

Hi CK, You must be able to pull film. Those fingers will spring back later. This is my suggestion for your reference.
Can you add this film on top of a vinyl wrap of the hood? Kind of new at this and was just wondering
Was wondering if PPF Comes in colors or just in clears
This was VERY INFORMATIVE!…thank you!
What about the edges and cuts? Is it the same as vinyl? Do you round the edges?
Please do a how to on vvivid air release tint on new Silverado tail lights!

You never want to wrap a repainted panel with PPF. The paintwork will lift when you're removing the PPF.
