Me!
Still listening to this over 40 years on...the 80s were definitely the best era in music...oh to be a teenager again!
Such an underrated group
Only now do I appreciate their music as I've got old and into jazz.
This is lovely
I was too busy break dancing in 83 to appreciate Jazz 😂. Now I appreciate it
*The Shakatak Sound Indeed.*
Bill Sharpe's keyboards, funky jazzy compositions, spiced by Jill Saward's jazzy sultry vocals.
So eternally cool, classy, jazzy, hipswaying r&b funky!
Great song great memories
@@deanfurborough1602 Easier Said Than Done and this are my 2 faves. Lucky to also have watched them live at Pizza Express Soho London, and happening upon and chatting up Limahl (Kajagoogoo) there, then a group photo thereafter.

Lucky myself to also have watched them live at Pizza Express Soho London (25th Anniversary), and happening upon and chatting up cool lad Limahl (Kajagoogoo) there, then a group photo thereafter.
The chorus of this song is literally "the lick". I can't unhear it.
I literally searched for this video because of that. I thought I heard it before.
Iiiiipo99998
What's the lick?
Timeless shakatak. Still sounds so elegant and classy .
Cuando se apreciaba la buena música aun
Timeless Shakatak with so many awesome tunes. Dark is the Night is one of my favourite, absolutely cosmic music✨🔥
At 57 years old this is still one of my favourites to dance around the kitchen too. I miss the 80's

With You there Mate.
In Mexico City jazz F.M. 104.1 Mhz used to broadcast Shakatak and in the program named: jazz discoteque by the year 1985 they were part of the the main show. I bet that was very pleasant. I liked it a lot.
The sound and vocals and jazz 😂 timeless
Underestimated group .....so brilliant, so good!!!!!!!!!!!1
Wonderful song with a cool breeze of romance of the 80s with style.
This music is magic
Jill Saward is awesome! )✨
Que buena música de lo mejorcito de los 80s tanto la voz como el sonido musical
The riff is the lick... and it kind of works. Wicked vocal melody, so 80s disco. The white mesh tank over green t-shirt look is coming back if I have to get this ball rolling myself
Whilst rekindling our youth as we immerse ourselves in nostalgia, we also torture our souls. For we shall never get back what time and progress has stolen from us. Bittersweet pill to swallow.
very good song from shakatak
Saw Shakatak at Blazers night club windsor in the 80's.
The 80's was a great time to be alive.
Yeah I remember seeing Second Image down the road at Slough, it was in what is now the Virgin cinema !
@@madmuppet8039 Good old days, had a friend in Slough, down the old bath road, also crashed my bike on the roandabout at the end LOL
Lucky to also have watched them live at Pizza Express Soho London, and happening upon and chatting up very approachable & humble chap Limahl (Kajagoogoo) there, then a group photo thereafter. Easier Said Than Done then this are my 2 faves.

Jill Saward still Beautiful today and the rest of the band stil jamming away with great music.
GILL SAWARD ..BILL ODELL ..WHO I'm sure (or was told lived nr EPPING ...not far from HILL HALL the old womens prison or THEYDON MOUNT !!???) MICK HILL ONE OF LADS in the REGT mega SHAKATAK FAN !! THE BLK GIRL SINGER feat. here was ..2 nd line up of grp! I always thought a LOT OF THEIR MUSIC was great for FILM SOUNDTRACK OR INCIDENTAL SOUND!!
What a band! Probably the best smooth jazz of the 80's. Remember seeing them live in some place in Covent Garden in 81/82. Maybe it was Rumours?! Can't remember. But I was hooked from then!
Fantastic British Funk Outfit. They just got better with time. Probably the best ALBUM for me was, into the blue, and Turn the music up👌👍😉
Easier Said Than Done then this are my 2 faves myself.
brings back memories. Man, what a voice!!
From June 1983 (I was 7), when Shakatak and Shalamar were big in the charts 🙂
I didn't even know Shalamar existed till I read ur comment..I went n checked them out..I absolutely love 3 or 4 songs of theirs so far.. :p
Shaka versus Shala

@@peterietswaart1908 Dead Giveaway by Shalamar and Dark Is The Night by Shakatak
Awesome. Simple Awesome !
One of the best bands in the universe...
My mother was born in the 60's. And let me discover these gems great, as an 39 year old and born in the 80's I can appreciate.
" and what can you do boo? Can you play the tambourine? " LOLOLOL. LOVE Shakatak.
I always liked this singers sweet voice, 80s through and through. Remembering the extreme styles - shoulder pads, rolled up jacket sleeves, jodphurs, riding boots and the big hair that ruled at the swankiest wine bars in town, and that was just the men!
L I C C the Song.
In this time of great turmoil with Covid-19...It's so good to listen to feel good songs and remind us of how good it used to be.
Yep...I think a lot of people are feeling this. The comfort blanket of nostalgia
Yep from France 🇫🇷
"I'M with you Marty"
Indeed... I sometimes feel we are in the End Times... everything seems to be in decline and decay... Oh, wait... I'm getting old...
Yep, it’s good to shut your eyes and go back to better days 🙂
bringing back old memories.. most of today's music cannot..
One of many fine songs from Shakatak from 1983 happy music 🎹👍.
The 80's by far the best decade for music - such good times - wish I could go back
same here
For sure! Best music, best movies, best poodle perms, best computer games, best books...
Best EVER MUSIC .LOVE THE 80S MUSIC.
we only get the one shot my friend...
When we only had the Cold War and mutually-assured destruction to contend with. Now we the people seem to be the enemy of our govt's and the Power Elites' plans.
Her smooth and classy vocals complement the band beautifully! The Ultimate feel good music.
@@anthonycollins7946 yes this gem has at the sametime an uplifting and melancholic character , like it wants to tell you it is a closing of an era , keyboard player bill sharpe took a different style soon after by working with gary numan
This reminds me of when I moved to London and they were always on the radio... never heard of them in the States... love these guys .... !!
Yes we did ! A lot of jazz stations use to play them circa 'Invitation'.
If you loved these try Shalamar and a real good group of the same era,Imagination. All fantastic stuff from the 80s.
Give them a listen,I am sure you will enjoy their music.
They were a famous UK Jazz-funk band during the early 80s. I recall cousins saying they heard them in the US and Canada on their radio stations and couldnt believe Shakatak were English.
The black stations played them. I used to listen to them with my homies in the barracks back at Fort Hood.
Lucky to also have watched them live at Pizza Express Soho London, and happening upon and chatting up very approachable & humble chap Limahl (Kajagoogoo) there, then a group photo thereafter.
Terrific
Saw them in Portsmouth UK on Friday evening….40 years on and they’re still amazing 🎤🎸
Just beautiful funk
So under rated and so talented, Bill Sharpe and the singer, such a great song
E bellissima canzone
my favourite shakatak track sends me into orbit
Bring back the 80s
Cannot take nothing away from these guys, fantastic tunes one after another.....
Saw them recently at the Pizza Express Soho and yes they are still pulling the crowds. Great night along with the legend Tony Blackburn in attendance.
Welcome back in the 80,s one of the group that belong in the list miss this time bring me back
Superb, could listen to it all night and often do. Brilliant, so at ease and just laid back enough, if I had a time machine I would go back tomorrow.
Make the most of every day buddy 💯💥
The keyboard player is enjoying himself
I’ll join you! 👍🏻🎶🎵🍻🌃
you should go back yesterday
This is my jam. Awesome band!!! Love them
Not played this for years, absolute class.
Everything I do flashback to old music and the result !!!!! melody !!!!
Saw these guys at lakeside. Amazing bass player
This caused me to have goosebumps. How good is this music....beautiful.
I first heard this coming out of an establishment in Soho, London, as I was walking through, and it's always reminded me of that area ever since.
So cool, it's sub-zero. I grew up with music of this calibre, taking it for granted, believing that tunes of this incredible quality would go on, and on, and on. So heartwarming to hear that younger viewers can identify with our precious golden age of popular music. We hand our legacy over to you. Cheers!
En los 80’s viviendo en Guanajuato Capital como estudiante, escuchaba esta música,y si,ya me sabia afortunado
Top notch Jazz Fusion, outstanding song!!
Lima - Perú 1982... Fantástic
brilliant, nostalgic song
Pop melody, jazz piano, funky groove... Sooooo smooth!
個人的に一番好きな曲❗朝コーヒー片手に聴きながら仕事に向かう☀30年以上前から聴いてるが令和二年シャカタクは色褪せる事のないアーティストだ❗🎶
I think I agree with you.
I think the same
Great memories from a great band. I learnt piano from studying Bill Sharpe. Keith Winter was a great guitarist also
Strong strong strong music UK🇬🇧 the years 70*80❤❤❤1*2*3 viva l algérie 🇩🇿1*2*3 viva music UK🇬🇧
Back to the Eighties dancing this song now in 2022 I still listen to it and I still enjoy it!
Why haven’t I heard this before?
It’s an awesome track, I love it !!! 😮👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
I grew up listening to this and will forever remind me of my late father. A time that will never be replaced. Great day's these, when people knew how to have fun and get down
Just the best now that's what we all call proper music...
This is how music is supposed to be…..nice to listen to…
happy Ito have seen them live at a jazz club called the HIDEAWAY in Streatham 2018. Bill sharp is a legend
Ah, June 1983 in Mrs Thatcher's Britain and I was nearly 11 years old. What a great time this was!
The quality of two areas is way better than current days: (1) The camera work; (2) EVEN IF the whole song was mimed, as a pianist the Shakatak pianist is THE pianist. No sustain pedal, which is great for supreme quality clipped jazz. Amazing, a go-to track, and world-renowned.
“Dark is the night is one my favourite song by Shakatak”
Lovely vocals from Jill 😂
