This video didn't help for those pregnant women trying to have job during their pregnancy.

The bias towards the employer is strong in this video. A pregnant woman applying and actively interviewing needs the job or else she wouldn't be putting herself through that. You all mentioned privilege yet didn't check your privilege. Literally disgusting 🤢

I got an offer, passed my background check. I'm supposed to resume in 3 weeks.
Decided to get on a call with my future manager to tell him that I'm preggos.
He mentioned that he'd have loved to know earlier. I was like "yeah right"😊
Told him i wasnt sure if i wanted to put my business out there without an offer.
We came to a win win aggrement, he seemed supportive and said what i do with my leave is totally upto me. Although i plan to work at every free time i get during my leave, sooooooo........
I also emphasized on how I'm committed to the role and planning not to let him down for picking me.
    I found favor
    Praise Jesus

The reality is I got offered 2 jobs while pregnant (they didnt know). I felt like it was only right to tell them before accepting the offer. After telling them, both offers from separate companies were no longer on the table. You can say its illegal all day long, but it still happens. This has happened twice to me now and probably countless times to others. Pregnancy is a privilege however, it comes with much sacrifice.

The guy was really dramatic with the example at the end. He went from saying it’s a waste to hire a woman who’s already pregnant to saying the company is wasting 3 YEARS if she “goes off” and gets pregnant a second time 🙄 In that case, is he assuming any woman he hires will get pregnant immediately? Silly.

People are afraid to give honest information to young women. Here it is: Be a career woman OR be a mom. It's essentially impossible to be good at both. I worked in engineering consulting for many years. The women who left to have kids kept their jobs but obviously progressed very slowly for advancement. And I never heard of a mom getting to an executive position or starting their own firm. It would be basically impossible. Choose a path in life and be good at it.

This advice is horrible!! The job interview is to find the best candidate. As a candidate, you should focus on presenting yourself and accomplishments. You should not introduce unconscious bias. Once an offer is extended, you discuss timing. This happens in every case, including transitions from old jobs, maternity or paternity leave, military leave, etc. This is the moment to discuss if the timing works for both the employer and employee.

It’s illegal to fire someone because they’re pregnant it isn’t illegal to withhold that information …

Very one sided to the employers benefit. I too agree, what professional actually INTERESTED in a job would even want an 18 mos pregnancy. That’s so exaggerated. And I absolutely had a friend passed for a job for being pregnant. And she was highly qualified. It happens more often than we would like to believe.

America doesn’t even offer job protection if you’ve been at a job less than a year so this is incredibly short sighted. It’s wild that you’d open with a question to help employers skirt pregnancy discrimination laws.

What maternity leave is 3yrs sir? I’ve heard of 6weeks not 18months. I must be in the wrong field. I would love to hear what happens when women are discriminated against how is that handled.

To mentions pregnancy in relation to working life in Norway. Many women claim they cannot get a job because they may become pregnant, many are afraid to say they are pregnant when they apply for a job, and many are afraid they may lose their job if they become pregnant, because the absence will be too long, or that this should not happen in the start-up phase. But there are actually laws in Norway that pregnancy is not a legal reason for dismissal
It is also not allowed by the employer to ask a job seeker if she is pregnant, nor do you have any legal obligation to state that you are pregnant. It is also not allowed to make an assessment as to whether she should get the job or not based on the fact that she has stated that she has told in the job interview that she is pregnant. The boss is not allowed to consider hiring or dismissing an employee/potential employee based on pregnancy
This is the legislation. So if you live in Norway, don't come and say that you have a hard time getting a permanent job based on the fact that you are pregnant or want to get pregnant. You are entitled to paid leave during the last phase of pregnancy, and for a long time after the child is born, and you have a job to go to when the leave is over. The state also gives rights to the employer and can employ a temporary worker while you are away, the company does not lose money on this either, even if the company has to pay for the leave, the company receives a corresponding amount which they can use to pay the temporary worker with

Do not tell your employer you are pregnant. Employer will fire you when they find out you are pregnant so just start the job and save money until you get fired.

I am pregnant looking for a job and just keep getting rejected I get offer to me then once I’m for one honest about it hey I’m pregnant the attitude of the interviewer change and making it look hard for me to get the job or some of the interviewer try to play it smart it’s not a problem then you hear their favorite words we will call you in about a week or 2 which mean you sound like good fit but not for this place goodbye
I bust my ass working to earn the respect of my employers and just because I chose to bring life into this world and want to help support for my family because I’m not rich neither is my husband we got all food assistance taken away from us running low on food my husband bust his ass working and yet not have one dollar to help buy some things for the baby and me sitting at home all day because everywhere I apply keep rejecting me and wasting my time my last on gas money or bus ticket to get a to interview just for them to reject me because they don’t want me gone for a month or two off sound dumb some job don’t even pay for those days off and if that really they’re problem they can just hired someone else temporarily or whatever to take that woman position if that really a issue
But they don’t care how hard working that person can be how good of person they are how they pay good attention of detail to their jobs
But yet most of this company got employees that got to comfortable with the employer not doing their job right or abusing their power it’s sad
