Both NK180 and the NK180Pro version are brushless. Brush motors like Minn Kota motors are way heavier. The NK180Pro version uses the same motor and housing, they changed the internal circuitry to improve efficiency, along with the prop and throttle in the upgrade. They also use the same bracket as the NK300 rather than the older drop-in bracket.
Great video Paul. This is awesome. I still think i will go with the bixby you and jeff showed a week or so ago. It's because i have pedal kayak now, but if i had a paddle definitely looks worth it.😊
Very dope setup broooo🫡💪🎣. I have a 106 too. I just recently got for the ponds and river but, my main squeeze is my 132 predator pdl. I love that thing. I can stand no problem and it can handle some decent water
The NK180Pro is a future add for me, too much out lay for now.... I am going with a bow-mounted Newport Kayak Trolling motor with the AUTOBOAT gps steering and spot lock system attached (all for less than 1K) for my Bonified SS127.
Love watching these videos and the new technology. Just wish this style was more attainable for families instead of a used boat. Maybe with time the prices will come down 🤞🤞
Man I love these setups but I just can’t bring myself to spend the money. I went with a Walmart Min Kota 30lb thruster motor ($129), Amazon motor mount ($49), Amazon lithium battery ($200), and some miscellaneous fittings and connectors. If I hit the lottery I’m definitely upgrading though!!
Amazon also sells batteries at a fraction of the price, and you could peddle while the motor is running to take off some of the draw and make your battery last longer.
You could peddle on a peddle kayak, but this is a paddle kayak. Definitely lots of battery options out there. We will be testing the Newport for the season, but can test others in the future
Are you guys going to compare the Newport vs. the Bixby? Looking at adding one to my PDL120; would love to know why you put one on OT and one on Crescent.
I'm adding a motor to my kayak and I see so many people add the steering to the foot pegs. What's a cheaper option for steering? I'm a double amputee so foot steering is out.
Yes, there are hand steering for alot of units, if you look at the Titan X12.5 has this. I believe there are others to that can be adapted to your unit, like Bonified too.
I'll have to look into it. I found a u jointed tiller extension that could work. I'm on fixed income so $$$ is not an option lol. I'm more like find it at Lowe's and diy it. I took up the wrong hobby. Lol
Also, if you have a handy hand there are tons of vids on taking a inexpensive trolling motor and turning into a great kayak, I'm talking about the less than $200 or even ones you could find even cheaper and turn it into something that would work for you. Definatly understand about a fixed budget, going through that too. I wish the best in all your endevors kayaking for sure, Semper Fi brother...
Paul most likely when I am able to start kayak fishing my first kayak and everything that I want for it will cost me around 16 to 18k. But that’s because I’m somewhat disabled.
Awesome, excellent video, inspiring me to do the same on my LT2! Do you think with all the gear, its still solo manageable on wheels to move around a lake / dock?
I know this is random, but i figured i would let your subscribers know there is a Raptor micro glide drop tonight at 7pm central time. Its only the All white color though
LIFEPO is not the same as LION. It’s lithium iron phosphate, which is better, still, than Lithium Ion. Just thought I would let ya know. Love the content. You guys were my guide to entry into the BFS realm (bastards!)
I think that telling people what you spent on what is a small cheap kayak will turn people off from kayak fishing. This is your setup and it's pretty amazing, but entry level people will hear that price tag and throw up in their mouths a little. I would have liked to hear the price tag for what an entry level setup without all the electronics would have costed you.
For sure, it's not entry level. Subtract 4k in electronics and you get the kayak plus motor cost. Don't want a motor, no problem, there are plenty of entry level options. We are always going to share the cost, so people can decide what is right for them.
I really like this whole set-up here. But I personally wouldn't buy that fish finder and the live scope. I don't really want to invest in that. I like simple $200 fish finder that I can just get depth. Temp. And contour from. So if I go with this set-up? It will definitely be minus that fancy electronics set up. But everything else about It really like. Very good video thanks for sharing your setup for 2024. 🙂🎣👍
What do you think of this rig?!
Paul wins :P
Love it, will mimic
Awesome set up, Paul. Can’t wait to see the future videos.
Thanks for the walk through and tips. Great looking Crescent! Nice shirt also!

@@paulglass7268 thanks bro hope u have a blessed day. Watch out for storms later
I'm in Michigan I just ordered the wilderness pdl 120 .

Would love to see the nk180 on the PDL 106! And best tackle storage ideas on the 106 as well.
Thank you!

How do you put that yak on top of a vehicle with the v shape? doesn't it lean towards one side?
Upsidedown or use foam pads

What kind of speeds do you get on the 106 with the bixpy?
4.5 mph

Now that we have 3 motors, yes, we will!

Hand steering or pole steering can work. Newport has transom mount motors too

Once I motorize my unlimited y’all can meet up in Iowa and test it out 🤣

Oh yeah, Paul did that for the whole season
Nice build! How come you didn’t do this build on the Shoalie?
Tough choice, had to pick one. We fish mostly lakes

Interested to see how fast it goes fully rigged and loaded.
5.5-6 on the first day
Does this setup make sense to me? Absolutely not! However, it's bad ass and I hope you love it. Love Crescents.
Love this comment
Got to the river and its blown out so im gonna eat a dehydrated meal and watch this on the river bank 😂 then might as well go home
Bummer
What is your max speed?
Got it over 6! All depends on the weight on board and hull design
