I work as structural CAD technician, so thank you for making these videos for structural engineering as well, most videos in RUclips are for architectural modelling.

Probably because Revit make tolerance about everything so when you welding 2 pieces of steel there is a gap or separation tolerance to make the welding, i think this could be the situation

    A couple things of note.
    - If you use the Z Offset, it could cause issues in the Analytical when you push it out of Revit. It would probably be a good idea to stay away from that if at all possible.
    - You can push that Cope to Zero, and it will be cleaner. You just have to change the Detail Level from Fine to Medium. You will, however, loose your Connection Visibility. Those only show up in Fine Detail Level.
I did enjoy the Video. Keep up the good work. I refer a lot of our New Guys to your Channel to gain a good base knowledge.

Thank you for the tips! The way Revit handles steel can sometimes be frustrating. Also thank you for recommending my channel!

I was stuck on structural connexion since 2 days, no other tuto on youtube explains that you have to turn on some graphics to see the actual connection in the view. Thank you sooo much, u da best !

Thank you, this was very helpful. I draw mechanicals and I’ve tried to use structural steel to make equipment frames in the past and gave up. Now I know some of the reasoning behind certain rules.

Even tho I have like 6 years exp in Revit, I still find it annoying working with Steel elements...
One example that I was struggling today is that some of my diagonal cross bracings are not showing on plan parallel on each side of the beam...but will be on just on one side....hitting that arrow icon sometimes fixes it...sometimes doesn't.

Question: ... I'm looking at learning how to use Revit to help me design a shed, though here in NZ, it seems our portal frames are a little different and from what sheds I have seen, they seem to be built from galvanized C-section frames, some are back to back etc, but none of the connections are welded, they're all bolted together, the same applies also to the apex and haunch brackets, my question is, will Revit have copies of the hardware/frame types they're using here in New Zealand? ... and is there a cheaper version of Revit for small users, like a Revit light? as it does seem to be quite expensive, eeeeekkkk

      G'Day mate!
I am relatively new to the Revit structure (I have been using Revit Architecture for the past 15 years here in Australia). As such, I have seen yesterday a video tutorial on cupling members that comes with Revit full version only. Those components are located in the 'Steel' tab, but they are not loaded - you need to load them.
Milos 'Balkan Architect', has explained that in this video
      ruclips.net/video/5BOwfdWEL80/видео.html
In regards to the Revit Lt - it has very limited amount of structural components, but definitely not 'steel' tab which you will need.
