I read the directions 10 times and still could not figure it out and was kicking myself for not hiring someone to come install it. I was frustrated and near tears when I found this video. To make it easier to slide the DW in with the insulation, you can use packaging tape to secure the insulation to the DW - it also prevents it from bunching up.
Just a tip...at 21:45, tape the electrical wires to the floor so they don't get caught up while pushing the dishwasher into place!

Top tip:
Use the cardboard that came with the box on the top to help slide everything in place, once it's in you can remove the card and the insulation shouldn't bunch up as much if at all.
My wife wants a new dishwasher for Christmas and asked if we could avoid the $120 installation fee from Lowes. I had installed one before, but your video reaffirmed my confidence that I could do the job. Getting a Whirlpool this time and not a disastrous Maytag like came from the house. Great video. I just purchased a GE dishwasher from Home Depot, and they wanted $80 to install it. I did it myself with the help of this great video.
I paid $100 and they were not able to install the DW because the old unit was directly wired to Romex cable. I ask them what I was paying then the $100 for, they said they can only plug it in to an outlet. I ended up doing it myself. Home Depot should know that most of the home built prior to 90's where done this way.
$80? I'll gladly pay that, Lowe's wanted $180 hence I am watching this video lol

One of the best DIY removal/install videos of a dishwasher I have seen. The only thing I see missing in this tutorial, that is quite important, is the "leveling" process of the dishwasher once it is in place. Other than that, great video.
Yes, it needs leveling the dishwasher. I installed once four years ago.
Also, I would recommend verifying that the power is off before you grab the wires. The house I live in had about a quarter of the breakers labelled wrong.

I just installed the exact same dishwasher and 1 thing that got missed is that when putting in the small metal clips that get screwed into the counter top, you must bend the ends of the clips that go into the frame downward so they are secure before you push the dishwasher into the hole and screw it to the counter top. If you noticed, one of his clips popped out at 19:06 because the ends weren't bent downward. I bent mine downward with a pair of needle nose pliers. The manufacturers instructions clearly explain this. This was a very helpful video!

I could not get a plumber to come out because I have a hardwired dishwasher and I was about to install it myself, then I found someone -- hopefully he won't flake out on me.

Thank you for this video! We used it to uninstall our dishwasher before delivery of our new dishwasher (which we purchased the installation). Very clear steps that even a complete novice can follow.
Hardest thing was putting the wiring back. The ground was so stiff and it took awhile, but once it was all together it shoved in fine. The darn electrical box was also hard to unscrew, since the manufacturer had decided to make the screw about 1/4 inch higher than the bottom of the dishwasher door, but I used a wrench and got it off. The rest worked like a charm.
I honestly cannot thank you enough for this great video. My 14 year old son and I just replaced an old dishwasher at our rental property in about 1.5 hours. Could not have done it without your help. Great video, and also found a lot of extra tips in the comments.

Great Tutorial, helped me get a better idea of what I have to do. I have a quick tip so when you put dishwasher back in, and you're having trouble keeping the insulation/sound proofing from bunching up. Get some cardboard and lay it on top of the insulation layer and leave a little lip so you can pull it out after you get it snug in there. Cheers!!!

Perfect! Just got the same dishwasher and need to replace my old one. The Home Depot installers refused to do it because the sink was too far away and they are not allowed to put water lines together so I have to do it. You covered it very well and lucky me that you used the same dishwasher. Thanks

Great video thank you. Just a note: Cuts made by tin snips can be very sharp and should be cleaned up with a file or sandpaper.
Great video and excellent job on pointing out the electrical connection as I am a electrician and I see people cheating like this all the time other then running to the hardware store and spending a $1 on a connector. I live in a Condo and I just bought a new set of appliances for my Kitchen and I never replaced a dishwasher as I had a idea how it's done but to see a video on it will make it easier when I install my new dishwasher... All done - flawless install thanks to your video. Added one step - I used a few small pieces of duct tape to hold the padding to the back edge of the unit - that made it slide in much easier.

To help with the insulation I used a "yardstick" to remove the high spots. Yes I"m an old timer who still has yardsticks and they come in handy.Also while you have the drain line off make sure the fitting it goes onto is clear of obstructions as this was a problem I encountered.

The noise was probably the clutch on his drill/drive and was not stripping the heads on the screws.
About the only difference in install from dishwasher to dishwasher is that bottom water line fitting style, other than that everything is really the same. Glad to help.

Purchased a "close out " from Sears. did not come with manual or hose clamps. sales person said they don't come with all the parts and I could bring it back. Please be aware in buying floor models or closeouts.

OK. So I've watched this video twice and I'm going to tackle this task. I hope I don't electrocute myself and I hope I don't flood my place either. Thanks for making this sound so easy for DIY's like me. I do think you should mention that you should level the dishwasher before securing it to the counter and how to tell which wires are + in case the colors don't match.

After using tin snipes on thin metal I suggest using a file to round off the edges.
Rather than cutting the tabs my Bosch instructions say to bend them back over themselves at the perforation.

Fantastic instructions. In two days a new Kitchenaid dishwasher is being delivered and I will remove my 26 yr old and still working Kitchenaid washer and install the new one. Your video makes it very easy to do the job and I will save $129. My original washer was installed with a copper line, should I use that one again or put a braided line like you did. I plan to reuse the old electric wire. Thank you so much for such a clear and easy to understand video.
I would replace the line with braided. Those old lines can develop leaks from being moved around with install.

@@HouseImprovements I just replaced my dishwasher and my new Kitchenaid looks underneath just like the Whirlpool you installed. My only complaint on your video, you didn't show how to hook-up the drain hose. I did replace the copper water line with the braided only for the ease of installation, but the package says it should be replaced every 5 years to avoid the hose to leak. Copper lasts a lifetime. Thanks again your video made it easy.

Very good video as have been all of yours I've seen. . You might want to suggest making sure the water has been drained. Mine quit in after filling in the wash cycle and was full of water. I used a wet-dry shop vac to clear it. Just a minor point.
Im trying to install a dishwasher from scratch. A swap out is an easy job, I have to make a new outlet, drill holes, redo the sink drain, make new water connections, and mount the machine.
