This video saved me; thank you so much for posting it. My 10 yr old Danby chest freezer (like the one in this video) wouldn't start after accidentally being subjected to below-zero temperatures. I was on the point of buying a new freezer but thought I would just see what info was available on RUclips. I've never worked on this type of equipment before but this video gave me the confidence to try my own fix. A couple of days and $15 CDN later (for a new starter relay) the freezer is running as well as ever. Thank you again.
The green light on my Danby freezer stopped working about a year ago but the freezer worked fine until it quit last week. I can hear something click off and on but the compressor doesn't run. I removed the outside cover and there are no obvious issues with burnt wires or fried parts but there is some frayed black material on copper compressor lines that may have overheated. My next step will be to remove the cover and access the start relay and overload protector, then remove the thermostat and light
My mini fridge stop running and compersore not turn ON , and i order from amazon relay 3pin but i forgot which color wiring need to setup in pin relay, wiring color blue, brown, and white contact with power cable?!?but I try (number 3.pin white )(number 1.pin blue)(number 2.pin brown) but didn't work 😕 😪
When I removed the cover it was obvious the overload protector and start relay wires were burnt and crispy at the connectors and when I removed both components I shook them and both sound like they had gravel or broken glass inside. So I just ordered an overload protector and start relay on Amazon and will replace the wire connectors and see what happens. I'm guessing these parts are made to protect the compressor so for $17 it's worth trying a simple fix trying to save replacement cost of the freezer for $350. Danby no longer offers replacement bulbs for the "on" light so I'll wait and see if the replacement parts get this freezer working and if so will order a green light kit.
Good job. My freezer is not cold but compressor is running. The green light is not visible outside but opening the side panel I notice that the light is flickering. Any idea on what’s happening?
A few weeks ago, I noticed it had defrosted. There was no sound of the compressor running. I looked this problem up and a number of results suggested replacing the start relay and / or overload. I ordered replacement parts, and they have now arrived, however I have misplaced the photograph I took of the original wiring. The start relay is a 3 pin relay Could someone please advise on how this should be wired? The brown and blue pair of wires both came from what looks like a capacitor box. The blue and white wires appear to come from what I believe to be a thermostat box, which is then connected to the mains.
Its weird mine died but it has a 250v 12uf run capacitor attacd to the start relay wires (which appear burnt). Maybe i just need to take this off entirely? I know nothing except yout tube videos lol please help 😅

Used this video to help troubleshoot my freezer, was the starter relay, 10$ part saved replacing the freezer. Thanks for the video!
Great video. My Danby freezer died this week. This was exactly my problem. Thanks!

I'm scared to try but will start by unplugging it. Going in......
Very good information thanks
I have the same problem, but no corrosion at all. Any ideas?
Don't the Danby's have a 5 year warranty on parts and labor with in home service?
you didn't link the video unfortunately

Thank you so much you just saved me a few $$$
Was your overload protector a 1/6 HP type? What is the part number on your overload protector. Mines was missing when I got it.
or 1/4 HP?
do these things have coils?
thank you so much for this video
Sound is little tricky but understand...

It would have been more helpful if you explained while actually doing. Thank you
