actually there are a few reasons face punching was taken out: 1) Easy KO's, 2) The injury rate and drop out was too high, 3) Blood-transfer from fighting bare knuckled., 4) In most countries, especially the Western Nations, bare knuckled boxing is illegal, and so kyokushin would have been illegal in these countries if they had allowed face punching still.
I dont disrepect those Kyokushin fighters (Im one myself) but UFC or some other MMA competition is something else. A ground fighter (like Judo) will last longer.
@kleinesap thats why people love mma more because its more of a realistic battle were if you fall the're no ref that tells you to stop. btw im not trying to insult karate i love this martial art and especially kyokushin
what sucks about this is that everytime you are about to be countered or get in trouble you just do some kinda roll/kick and the ref stops the fight its irritating cause the other guy could kick your ass on the ground unless its a ko
@pastropmal No I didnt say that But i said iv seen a 3rd dan Kyokushin put asleep not by a noob, but by a average skilled BJJ fighter. The fight went to the ground, and it was over for the karate fighter. Who was mastered as a stand up one dimensional fighter. BJJ fighter knew that so it wasnt hard for him to take the fight to the ground. that was his only opportunity. I also didnt say the BJJ fighter didnt took strikes and kicks, but he managed to end it on the ground with a busted nose btw
@catboyx20 nope, not a chance if the kyoku fighter never had any boxing/kickboxing and groiund training. I train in bjj, kyokushin and kudo. in an mma style fight i would take a pure kyoku fighter to the ground after i closed the distance with head punches which are barely trained and never used in fights. Tryed it and succeded with guys who eat me alive in kyokushin fights.
Grappling is effective and kyokushin isnt the complete martial art although it teaches not to rely on fighting on the ground, in other words a fight on the street should be over after one or two punches in the street if an attacker threaghtens an experienced stand up martial arts practitioner.eg kyokushin blackbelt. A good strong kyokushin fighter would be aware of his surroundings and not let a grappler even attempt a take down or attack in the street! Also type in youtube kyokushin in mma.
I dont think you all get it, They wont last one round with a MMA fighter wether its in UFC , Strikeforce it doesnt matter. Only Kyokushin and no groundskills, against a MMA fighter doesnt get you far. So many kyokushin fighters in MMA, but they also are very experienced on the ground. So only striking is simply not enough. It doesnt matter how good you are. Ive seen 3rd dans kyokushin fighters putting to sleep by a MMA fighter who practiced only for a year. On the ground throw away that 3rd dan
@pastropmal And I also dont care about the holy ufc or strikeforce, just wanted to say strikes and kicks only doesnt say anything. Same like ground fighting only.. i wasnt bashing Kyokushin, no way Im a kyokushin fighter myself..But I train groundskills (BJJ) too..
They break baseball bats with ther shins as well up to 3. My mate has done it. Conditioning of the shins. In the world tournaments there is no weight division just like in the street if you have to fight, you dont say oh your bigger than me so Im going to let you kick the shit out of me.
If I were going to take an Karate style I'd take Kyokushin. If I had the choice that is. I've taken Shotokan but I wasn't that impressed with it. I preferred Tae Kwon Do to Shotokan. In truth if I could take any one martial art I wanted it'd probably be BJJ, just because it looks like the most fun to me.
Those little somersault kicks are absolute suicide...I understand their use in getting points, but damn I hope they don't plan on using them in anything but sparring.
Not true. Face punches in kyokushin were taken out to prevent damage to the hands. Just watch the first UFC tournaments when they used to fight without gloves. Even experts boxers and karate guys broke their hands punching.
iko2 is much better than iko1. what do you think would happen if texiera were to fight vs 1ko2 i think he would have his dreads handed to him but now im going to get alot of hate mail cause there alot of his fans here but i stand my ground osu
Who said I didn't appreciate it? I'm merely stating my personal opinion on an observed technique present in a martial art. I'm free to make a casual observation at will...watch: This conversation will go nowhere.
this martial art would be so much more legitimate if they just threw some 8 oz grappling gloves on (MMA style) and allowed punching to the face. nothing looks more stupid or is less realistic than two dudes standing two feet from each other exclusively punching the other in the chest and stomach
@f9hunter Stop crying, no form of martial arts is better than another. It can be argued in a fight with no rules, grappling is more effective because it is more sustainable. It can be just as easily argued that a kick to the head is going to put anybody out, and that anyone doing Kyokushin, Muay Thai or any striking art would find it easier to get the first shot. And if I have jumped in out of line and somebody else began attacking you for your opinion, I do apologise.
OMG best kyokushin video ive seen for a long time! wish i where there:)

Anyone else want to hear the words "Mortal Kombat! FIGHT!" After the slowmo knockouts?

You are right.
what sucks about this is that everytime you are about to be countered or get in trouble you just do some kinda roll/kick and the ref stops the fight its irritating cause the other guy could kick your ass on the ground unless its a ko

dude banging on drum is part of the greatest moments?
@catboyx20 nope, not a chance if the kyoku fighter never had any boxing/kickboxing and groiund training.

Are you ok?
I want to study this. Only thing is, it's hard to find a credible dojo in the US.
@MrChickens whats the hell say? i´m practise karate kyokushin and this isn´t boring
@LINKchris87 Its ice.but still its hard :)
@sbowesuk kyokushin is full contact, the objective is the KO
33 is nice
Kyokushin guys kick kind of sloppy and slower than other styles but DANG do they kick hard!!
Slower?!

I personally think the Shinkyokushinkai Japanese team is stronger than IKO1's Japanese team, though the overall level I think IKO1 is higher
OSU!
@BadBlueBoy213
jep
Лукас кого конкретно замочил, бляха! Мировой уровень.
@pastropmal
true, as I said, It was not exactly what I meant
Those little somersault kicks are absolute suicide...I understand their use in getting points, but damn I hope they don't plan on using them in anything but sparring.
@empathictempest79 They would play...but by their own rules. Too many rules in the UFC. If these fighters went in they would kill them.
UFC and Kyokushin are diferent things. BUT, kyukushin is nicer.
with kyokushin karate you can hit someone in the face only not directly.
Not true. Face punches in kyokushin were taken out to prevent damage to the hands. Just watch the first UFC tournaments when they used to fight without gloves. Even experts boxers and karate guys broke their hands punching.

So professional boxing looks like a barfight? Your logic is flawed.
these people are very though.... breaking concrete with his nude leg!! i wish he never kicks me
jup, donatas imbras ^ ^
I don't like that somersault kick move. If you don't KO the guy you're basically left on the ground where could stomp your head in a real fight.
check out learnkarate for more karate action!!! =)

Jeg kunne nok ikke gjort det bedre selv. Kjempe bra.
@MrChickens
I don't want to be a dick,but most of these guys would not last one round with a fighter from the UFC,they have open guard....
