Great location, Paul. I agree with you about the rule of thirds.

A great location Paul that clearly shows the power of nature. Very well explained too regarding how the limestone has eroded over the years leaving the larger rocks perched precariously and making for some awesome photography. Glad you found the one you came for, it was definitely the best 📷👏🥇

Your right its an amazing part of England and your enthusiasm shines through. I used to play badminton against a dry stone waller, a tall muscley guy that would smash the shuttlecock straight at your face, painful.
If you want to see big erratics you need to come north. The last glaciers in Britain came out of Loch Lomond and only melted 13,500 years ago. Try looking up 'Auld Wives Lifts', you can stand a football team on top of them. We also have the largest known erratic in western Europe not too far away in a quarry lake; although what defines an erratic is rather loose as there's no size, weight, type of stone or distance moved threshold. I've an ongoing project to shoot all erratics over 5 metres within 20 miles of home. In Scotland they're often called 'gowk stanes'; if you're called a gowk it means you're large, ugly and don't fit in, sort of troll like, Sloth from the Goonies.
The stones on top of the limestone feet at Norber are greywackes, a sort of very mixed up sandstone (sedimentary) that formed in a high energy environment, like an underwater landslide. Its not come out of a volcano (igneous).
Glad you're getting your head around a few geological ideas though 😁👍

@@paulcomptonpdphotography I was lucky enough to turn up on a December day several years ago and shot the sunset through the whole in the middle, just good timing but you can see why some hippy types thought it was a Neolithic monument.

Aye you saved the best till last Paul, super location amazing what nature throws up eh. I loved the selfies with you propping up those huge boulders, I don’t think I would have been brave enough to go under them like that, all it takes is a wee tremor or mini earthquake and yer a gonner lol. It looks stunning up there, so many potential photos other than just the rocks, thanks again for taking us on that wonderful journey to somewhere new. 😁👍

Enjoyable video. How long was the walk from the can and what keeps your camera on your shoulder. Thank you.

A few months ago you were asking subscribers for locations to visit. I suggested Norbur Erratics, and I’m very pleased you took up my suggestion. It’s great to see your take on it, great images Paul. Loved the vlog.

Paul, I was up there last weekend !!. I spotted that lone tree but did not get an image as the light was not good. Twisleton Scar is another location you should visit. There are odd Erratics on the opposite side of the road there some quite large
