    Showing a walk around the hotel I booked in Kampot Cambodia at a cheap guesthouse for $15 a night. The guesthouse is very budget-friendly and has a great location. The downside during my stay was poor wifi reception from the room. If staying here, it is preferable to get a sim card with strong 4G to do any internet surfing activities.

    Thank you so much for this review of Vibola Guest House.. I have retired in Phnom Penh and plan on travelling to Kampot every six weeks or so to escape the hustle and bustle of PP. Last trip to Kampot i stayed at a small hotel which was extremely basic but clean @ $16 a night. Stairs also but no pool and a lot further out. You have just found my new go to place when i next visit Kampot which will be in a few weeks. Thank you from a fellow Aussie. Did i mention that you found a place with a pool? At the right price. Lol 😅

    Stayed in that same hotel room on my last visit to Kampot. The wooden window frame next to the bed is rotting away. Apart from that the hotel is in a good location near to restaurants and bars. Next door is a laundry and motorbike hire shop. Its cheap. Has a cosy swimming pool. I would definitely stay here again.

      Yep agreed !! A bit worn out but location is amazing, the hotel room is functioning, the aircon is high in temperature, the beds are soft, I think it’s worth it

    We checked this place out in march 2023 and the pool was green and rooms smelled like mold.Went to Billibongs and it wasn’t much better but it had food and a bar .

    Thousands of guest houses all over Kampot. Many better. Cute little town with a lot of long term expats.
    Get a bike and head down for Kep for something different and yes ride up to Bokor also. Always had good times in Kampot.

    Just wash the pillow case in the sink with soap and water as soon as you get to a new hotel and hang it up to dry and be ready for bed time

    How was the Wi-Fi? Also, do they offer a monthly rate?

    • @travellingwithmaz
      @travellingwithmaz  9 месяцев назад +1

      I’m not too sure about the monthly rate but I would say there’s always room to negotiate with the hotel with longer term stays. In terms of the wifi, it is not good at all. I had to stand outside the room to get decent wifi but even then, it was quite slow.
      If you stay here, 4g and using a mobile network is probably better if you’re a digital nomad

      @@travellingwithmaz thanks :). Was that your experience in Kampot in general with the Wi-Fi?

    • @travellingwithmaz
      @travellingwithmaz  8 месяцев назад +1

      I couldn’t really say as it was a one off hotel situation that I stayed in but.. I think the Cambodia has slow internet in general compared to the other countries I’ve been to.
      I remember uploading a RUclips video that took around 2 hours to upload and when I did a similar video around the same size in Thailand, it uploaded in 30 minutes so that’s just 1 thing to be aware of regarding the wifi in Cambodia !
      Mind you, this is just talking about my personal experience in general

    Investors spend millions and millions to built and pay 💰 more than 6 % in interest and charge only $15 a night ? Money 💴 losing business

    • @travellingwithmaz
      @travellingwithmaz  9 месяцев назад

      Perhaps could be the volume of people going in and out that makes a $$ but I can’t comment on the business and how they make a profit. I just want to share the best deals via travelling

    You paid $15 for accommodation, and you ask if it’s worth it? Can the owner make any money? Sheesh!

    • @travellingwithmaz
      @travellingwithmaz  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hahaha! Very subjective my friend, $15 is cheap, yes, however, is the facilities clean, is it close the the location, is it worth staying at this point?
      I won’t comment on how the guesthouse makes money because that’s the prices they’ve set for travellers, they have their own way of managing their own business, hence, the prices placed online.
      As for travellers, there are lots of questions they have when looking at staying in certain accomodations especially in south east Asia.
      Everyone has their own standards and by being transparent, it allows people to make their own decisions when booking accomodation while travelling.

    • @clifforddang5947
      @clifforddang5947 9 месяцев назад

      @@travellingwithmaz So that's the attitude travelers have for South East Asia, isn't it? people expect to live like a king for a price that barely pays for their lunch at home.
      Unless it's a chicken coop or rat infested, a place that lets you shower, sleep and change of clothes , $15 a day is without a doubt worth it!!

    • @travellingwithmaz
      @travellingwithmaz  9 месяцев назад +1

      I think you’re being quite subjective in the sense of “travellers attitudes”, all we’re doing here is creating a platform for people to share their experiences at different places in different countries and creating transparency over it.
      I understand that prices are the same as your lunch at your home country but the standards of living are different from a south East Asian perspective and a western perspective and these need to be taken into account when travelling.
      We’re not doing anything wrong but sharing this information to my fellow travellers and promoting their hotels so more people can stay and create sustainable incomes for their businesses.
      These are the standards they set so I’m a bit confused as to why you’re attacking the travelling community and creating biases around how “all travellers are” these days with the “cheap” prices.
