The late Teresa Teng is well known to Chinese people. I would conservatively say about 1.5 billion Chinese worldwide know about her and many millions love her singing, especially this song which is also well known. She was mainland China’s favourite singer in the eighties (even though she was from Taiwan) when China was opened up economically. It was a great loss when she died of a sudden asthma attack when she was about 44.
I have heard her singing this song and I really can understand why she was so loved. She has a beautiful voice and a very modest appearance. To bad that she is passed away at such a young age. Thank you Paul for the information about Teresa.
