I can remember when I was a kid you could pan for Gold at Knotts Berry Farm in California that was about 60 years ago. Jesus I’m OLD. Love your Videos 👍
Klesh I found a jar from 1967 from Cali and it was opened, on eBay lost the bid! Tried hard to, went for 47$ and I had $45 sitting forever! Would’ve been a great video! Thanks for sharing
Hey that was real cool that you opened that packaging and let that 50 year old gold catch another breath of air. Lol it's not every day you get to see packaged up pay dirt from so long ago. This was almost a new meaning to the phrase "older than dirt huh? Keep the goods coming. Love what you have going here.
Yes Yes Yes!!!!! Someone else commented about doing another sidewalk video there has to be some gold diamond store or row where you live please please please do another video!!! The NY one has to be my favorite video of the channel!!! Pretty please????
It's important to understand this type of product was never designed for professional world renowned gold panners such as Klesh but catered to tourists looking to pick up a quick souvenir. Still, a great historical find.
I’m a new subscriber, I’ve learned so much since I started watching your videos. I hope this finds you well and enjoying the 4th of July. Thank you 🙏 for passing on your time and knowledge Sir. From an old Navy Photojournalist.
I have a metal pan that I used one time. I dried it out and put it up. It is now orange from rust. Only a few years old and just from sitting up in display, it rusted. To find one similar in packaging still clean after 50 years is amazing find.
staples should have been pried from the back - lifting both side of the staple, then pulled out from the front. you could then put a new baggy in there , new staples, and resell it. lol
Hey man hope ya know that you're the reason I got into this hobby and that you're the realist no BS youtuber ive seen. Keep up your originality! Much love. The corgi.
nice (been binge watching Klesh videos all day. ordered a big amount of dirt From Klesh a day ago, and doing a binge watch for the days waiting for it to come in the mail.)
Shane, Do you sell the gemstones that you find? I love your videos, and seeing you with Pioneer Pauly and Dan Hurd was nice as well, although I a viewing older videos it is all new to me. I love watching you when you crevice as you actually work hard at retrieving anything in the crevice. wtg. Love seeing the AU...
you should have put all the dirt back together along with the gold and then tried panning using the original pan and instructions and then seen how much you recovered the second time just to see if the pan and the technique worked
Shane, you should run that calc. using the price of gold in 1972 which was $63.84/ounce. I was hoping while watching, that given the very low price of gold back then, they might have put in like 10 grams or so, ha ha. I guess not. It is a really cool relic from the past and, I actually like that little pan. I enjoyed the video.
When I learned how to pan I learned with one of those tiny metal pans. Bought a bag of paydirt from the Silver Queen mine in Rosamond California. I panned that bag over and over and over...counted the flakes...put them back in and did it again. I got good with that little tiny pan.
Most people will spent ten times that in petrol to get out to the goldfields in Australia here and come away with less. But generally all paydirt is a scam.
Bought my first pan today. Came with a few spoon fulls of some dirt. Also came with a bunch of other stuff. But I thought it was cool they gave the dirt. Wasn't expecting anything. But found some gold. Not much but found some.
I am always impressed more when someone goes to a national park and kicks over a rock discovering a huge deposit of gold in the back side. To me, there's your real find. It's like picking up a penny and finding it's a 1914D. Those things were more for kids you do know that? Also they were salted. Sure they had gold, just not much. Kinda like those glass vials with gold flakes, what a joke.
I grew up working at Calico Ghost town from 71-78 when I turned 18. Big Silver mining town, but there is some gold there too.. They used to sell this package at the Lanes General Store. Store has been thru many hands since then, and last I was there it was closed.
Wow that was cool, fun watching the magnet. My parents went to Alaska in 1971 I doubt they bought any pay dirt lol their car broke down and they had to sell my moms gold wedding ring to fix the car haha. exciting that you are almost to 100k!
That's exactly where you got them. Who knows if there was really anything in it. I never wasted my money on those. I think they were $8 or something. More than a model car back then. I was more interested in the model car.
I'm guessing these were sold in some of the tourist trap gift shops in places like Juneau and Skagway or possibly on the Seattle waterfront bank in the day. Probably didn't cost more than a couple of bucks when purchased. When I took an Alaska cruise a few years ago the Walmart in Juneau had little vials of water with some very thin gold flakes (probably tiny bits of gold leaf) floating in it for something like $1 each. I'd be surprised if there was more than 10 cents worth of gold in there, but it still looks cool.
Now that is pretty darn cool, I couldn't bring myself to open that package that one would be hanging on the wall! But It would kill me not knowing whats in it also lol..
Yep and that’s pretty much the exact same amount of gold I received from the first and only bag of dirt I’ll buy online lol. Total rip considering I paid three hundred bucks I had a ton of fun though planning for my first time!
Nice! 37 cents. Lol. You should have checked the price of gold in 1972 just to see how much it would be worth. 37 cents was lots of money back then...lol
Honestly I expected more gold in there with it being from the 1970s, gold didn't go too crazy till the 80s but with the little pan that'd be alot of gold for a kid to find anyhow. Probably wasn't a bad price on it back then either.
I can remember when I was a kid you could pan for Gold at Knotts Berry Farm in California that was about 60 years ago. Jesus I’m OLD. Love your Videos 👍
Being 2 years older than that package thank you for reminding me that I'm now literally older than dirt.
Damn bro, you got the whole squad laughing
Ian Jimenez damn bro, you’re so original.
moto lyfe fr
Ian Jimenez
You probably think you are cool or some shit but you just seem pathetic
Tv Confusion 😂chill
I remember seeing something like that in the mid 90's at a place in Colorado Springs called Ghost town. It was 25 Dollars back then.
Thanks!
Oh wow. Thats hilariously overpriced for what you‘re getting for it.
@@kduhtdkzrt Highway robbery
Never thought I'd be watching gold panning videos.. Thanks RUclips
More to come!
Covid got us all wacked up
Next thing you know you’re ordering his pay dirt lol
Nice 69
the more i watch the more i wanna try it
The most satisfying thing EVER is seeing the black sand get pulled out 😩
Klesh I found a jar from 1967 from Cali and it was opened, on eBay lost the bid! Tried hard to, went for 47$ and I had $45 sitting forever! Would’ve been a great video! Thanks for sharing
I think there used to be adds for that in the back of comic books when I was young.

Stephie Pefie sure, those videos are fun and I usually find lots of gold
Seconded!!!
KleshGuitars Can not wait thank you soooooo much!!! Watching you guys find everything literally put a smile on my face!!
When i was a kid in the 70s they had items like that at gift shops at toured caves.great video, thanks
It's important to understand this type of product was never designed for professional world renowned gold panners such as Klesh but catered to tourists looking to pick up a quick souvenir. Still, a great historical find.
That's exactly right haha (except for the world renowned gold panner!)
Cool the pan is metal. back when they made things to last. If it was made in 71, I was nine years old. Cool, groovy, far out, peace and love. lol
I’m a new subscriber, I’ve learned so much since I started watching your videos. I hope this finds you well and enjoying the 4th of July. Thank you 🙏 for passing on your time and knowledge Sir. From an old Navy Photojournalist.

Yeah it was a really rare find on eBay, and got it dirt cheap no pun intended LOL
I'm an avid gold prospector and miner up in Alaska, this is probably my favorite paydirt video you have made due to the history and age
It's definitely a little bit historical, I enjoy making these as well
staples should have been pried from the back - lifting both side of the staple, then pulled out from the front. you could then put a new baggy in there , new staples, and resell it. lol
Well isn't that what he got?Them staples should have rusted 30 years ago.
MrBakedDaily those staples had zero signs of rust
Hey man hope ya know that you're the reason I got into this hobby and that you're the realist no BS youtuber ive seen. Keep up your originality! Much love. The corgi.
ever seen the lockpicking lawyer?
Awesome! Thank you!
After a long day of shoveling paydirt my back feels vintage.......
Nice score !!!!!🍀👍🏻✅
nice (been binge watching Klesh videos all day. ordered a big amount of dirt From Klesh a day ago, and doing a binge watch for the days waiting for it to come in the mail.)
Vintage pay dirt??? I had no idea that even existed!!
yeh because gold dirt was only invented after 1998
Blame USA implying that I didn’t realize people saved or sold packaged pay dirt from the 70’s, unopened.....
Liberty Mining I know others exist as well, I just gotta stay persistent searching for it. Thanks for watching!
Liberty Mining it was subtle ... trolls gunna troll.
That paydirt package was awesome!
Worth more as vintage souvenir. Very cool
Vintage gold! Cool little kit. Congrats on the continued growth of the channel. Well deserved.
That was an awesome find brother, and those bubbles, yeah it definitely was sitting awhile. Have a golden day.

I close my eyes but only for a moment and the Gold dust floats byyyyyy
When it was wet I thought it was so much more!!! I'm loving your videos!!!!
Thanks 🙏
Another great show. Thanks for keeping it AU%
Hey Shane I would take that little tiny gold pan and put it in one of your larger bags of dirt for you-know-what extra little gift
Love your paydirt reviews
That's pretty neat finding that old stuff. Thanks for all you do for us.
That's neat vintage set
Good clean up pan to I use my mini mini pan a lot
When I learned how to pan I learned with one of those tiny metal pans. Bought a bag of paydirt from the Silver Queen mine in Rosamond California. I panned that bag over and over and over...counted the flakes...put them back in and did it again. I got good with that little tiny pan.
I used the tiny metal pan in Alaska. But it wasn't as tiny as this one.
@OBAMFSpike Good idea, never considered that.
Paid $30 for 30cents
And made hundreds from the video, genius
Most people will spent ten times that in petrol to get out to the goldfields in Australia here and come away with less. But generally all paydirt is a scam.
Add up what you spend on your favourite hobby. Then shut up.
Bought my first pan today. Came with a few spoon fulls of some dirt. Also came with a bunch of other stuff. But I thought it was cool they gave the dirt. Wasn't expecting anything. But found some gold. Not much but found some.
I think I remember seeing that sold in Henderson, Nevada. Old Sams Town. I was 7 years old but I remember that tin. Around 1978.
Great memory!

Fifty years is a long time , but yeah that is some heavy black sand, truly enjoyed the video, always nice to see a few pieces of gold ...
i’m on a gold pan binge lol this is my 7th video today of yours 😂😂
I grew up working at Calico Ghost town from 71-78 when I turned 18. Big Silver mining town, but there is some gold there too.. They used to sell this package at the Lanes General Store. Store has been thru many hands since then, and last I was there it was closed.
Very cool to hear that information thanks!
tip for you Klesh, open the staples on the reverse of the packet, you will do less damage to the rest of the package
Great video klesh
6:31 the way he rolled that bag 😂😂😂
I enjoyed this video so damn much. I don’t know why I found it so exciting, but I did. Thanks
That was cool. Its so nice to find something like that today. Thanks for sharing.
Really cool find! Interesting little pan

Very enjoyable Shane. Old vintage How to accessories always nice for a collector. Thanks for sharing with us newbies like me. HH TC AL
100k Subs is so close! Congrats 🎉
another good vidier
those little metal pans are great for drying gold in :)
fyi, alaskan paydirt could also have platinum in it. some of the lightly magnetic material can be platinum (pt) as well
Thanks for that video. I actually have the same thing. I have been dying to find out what is in it. Now thanks to you I know!
Wow that was cool, fun watching the magnet. My parents went to Alaska in 1971 I doubt they bought any pay dirt lol their car broke down and they had to sell my moms gold wedding ring to fix the car haha. exciting that you are almost to 100k!

Alright!
Great Video my friend, keep up the great work. Would like to see more Vintage mining memorabilia.
Right on Shane, I’ll be selling paydirt here very soon. Something a little different though. 😉😁🤙
Wow. This one sounds cool. Vintage, curious on your finds. Fun video Shane. 50yrs to be panned out and Nixon was sweating watergate. Lol
Love that so much!
Vo-Gus Prospecting “It’s pretty average...”
Looks like something i saw at the 5&10 when i was a kid good vid
That's exactly where you got them. Who knows if there was really anything in it. I never wasted my money on those. I think they were $8 or something. More than a model car back then. I was more interested in the model car.
Very cool video! Can we please have some more sidewalk prospecting videos. 😀
NICE KLESH I hate feeling burned on anything... send it back!
😂 Ill send it back to 1974
Love this

heck Shane, I guess that makes me older than "vintage" paydirt ehhh???
my grandkids said I am older than dirt anyway, lol
LOL! Apparently I am older than vintage pay dirt as well! Damn the abuse!
Novelty gold. Pretty nice. Cheers!
Congratulations on hitting the 100K mark
-Ben
Awesome video Shane
Thank you lVlalicious!
Congrats on 100k
Now that is pretty darn cool, I couldn't bring myself to open that package that one would be hanging on the wall! But It would kill me not knowing whats in it also lol..
Almost to 100k subs!!!! Congrats 🎉
Your razor blade is beyond almost dull ! lol 😆
Yep and that’s pretty much the exact same amount of gold I received from the first and only bag of dirt I’ll buy online lol. Total rip considering I paid three hundred bucks I had a ton of fun though planning for my first time!
This guitar channel is sick
You should check my "actual" guitar channel, it's even sicker
You should use that mini gold pan to weigh all your gold in future videos! Would be so rad!
Cool idea!
@@Klesh thanks dude. I'll watch regardless!
I recently found a tiny diamond (maybe fake) in a washing machine when I was taking out my laundry. So that's kind of panning, is it? :D
Miranda Tuntuma I was scraping a Washing machine last summer and I found gold! A 14k earring.
The mini pan would make a cool hold wieghing pan
Paydirt. Im sure someone had a chuckle over that one.
Very nice conversation piece for sure ...
Nice panning Klesh!
Precious ol’ dirt bag
Sweet video as always right up front great knowledge thank u
wow! That must have been hard for you to do. Not a very good ROI. Thanks Shane, I remember seeing that paydirt in roadside tourist traps. Cool.
Cool music during the magnet process what is it
That was still wicked cool
Nice Idea !!!!!!!
Bigger ripoff then the expensive once now adays 😂
Yeah it was pretty bad even for being an old relic.
Super cool vintage paydirt brah Nice
What’s a good beginner metal detector you could suggest? Thanxx man !!
Depends on what you're looking to use it for. Gold prospecting, coins, underwater, scuba, saltwater, freshwater...lots of options!
KleshGuitars (gold) beaches ,park , land..
How did the colors on the packaging not fade after all those years? I have collectibles from 15 years ago and the red is already turning pinkish.
I’m guessing it was in an unopened box from the manufacturer? No idea
You should put that gold in the little pan and seal in in a cube of clear epoxy it would be cool on a shelf
I kept the packaging and have it on display now.
Pretty cool Shane. When will the bucket video be ready?
Weasel 6Three at 100k subs. Soon!
I’m kind of upset the you didn’t use the old pan just to try and pan the old dirt.
Nice! 37 cents.
Very nice video my friend. Good pick up.
Thanks 👍
Hey, that's still more gold than I got digging on the bear River below Camp Far West lol.
Out of curiosity. Why dont you wear Xtra tough boots when you go looking for golf?
Sandals are much more comfy.
that would have been so hard to open. Im a collecter and I dont think I could have done it but thanks.
It was a small mental struggle I'll admit, but did it for the greater good in the long run! Thanks for watching!
