I suppose I didn't learn my lesson the first two times, so I bought another real expensive bucket of paydirt in hopes of getting rich on gold nuggets! Of course I'm joking. When gold miners make more money selling dirt then gold. Your paying them to clean their dirt, this is not how an economy works. They save the money from not doing it themselves, and make more money from the dirt then its worth. I wouldn't support a system like this, and glad there are people like you doing this test for everyone.
No matter how many people make videos like this, people will still buy these buckets of dirt. And It isn't "paying them to clean their dirt" it is far worse than that. These companies buy raw gold nuggets in bulk, then buy dirt in bulk, put X amount of gold (99 times out of 100 always less than whatever they charge, by a large percentage), sand, sm med and lg rocks in a bucket, shake it around then seal it, then sell it. They aren't selling "unpanned dirt from rivers", they are selling other peoples found nuggets mixed with pre panned "clean' dirt and rocks, they know exactly how much gold goes in each bucket, probably to the mg.

@@Klesh I wouldn't say that, they would make plenty of profit by essentially throwing in a winning lottery ticket every so often, as that is the only way to keep people coming back. The exact same way with 1 dollar scratch tickets, for instance, or loot boxes. Now that may be 1 out of every 100 buckets or 1 out of 500 or 1 out of 1000, but if people don't see a winner at least somewhat of the time, they will stop buying the shit after a while.

But this particular bucket has no guarentee of having any gold. How can it not guarantee containing gold and also put in gold?
there is no way in hell someone would see a nugget and be like "nah, ill just leave it in the dirt and just sell the dirt". The only reason they are selling is because they know they are making a profit, because they probably know exactly how much gold is in each bucket. You would never sell a bucket like that if there was a chance you would lose money on it.

Great video KleshGuitars, always wondered what the total gold recovery vs cost was on these buckets. I was fortunate to receive a "free" bag of dirt from another popular RUclipsr about a year ago. The excitement my kids had when we panned it out is well worth it. Haven't yet bought a bucket from a company, glad I watched this first! Thank you!

It still amazes me that people do not listen to YOUR disclaimer: “YOU WILL NEVER MAKE YOUR MONEY BACK!” Instead they throw in a remark that makes them look and sound quite slow.
I actually got a 3lb 3g bag (guaranteed) from goldnuggetsales.com and got about 3.2g. What I paid for it until I panned it out (about 1.5 weeks) the gold value is about $12 more than I paid. Not huge, but over 100%. I wouldn't say anyone can expect it, but with some companies it's possible with price fluctuations. Buy when prices are down! Maybe I just got lucky though...

This is basically what lootboxes are, you pay hundreds of dollars in the hope of getting something out of a bad game. And in the end, all you did was donating to a scam.

That isnt how it works, because loot boxes are garunteed to have the thing in question. You could get it on the first box, or the 500th. These buckets however dont garuntee anything at all

I am guessing most, if not all of these buckets have already been panned and then they just add the gold to the bucket so the company selling the buckets know they aren't losing money in gold in the bucket, but also giving you enough gold to make sure you are happy and excited when you find the gold. So your real money you are paying for is the excitement of finding the gold. The only way you break even is if the price of gold goes up from the time they created the bucket till the time you buy it.
absolutely correct. pay dirt is more for people who want to have the thrill of finding gold in their pan or ones that live in states or places that doesnt have gold. pay dirt should never be considered an investment

Shane, I love those classifiers, this bucket felt really fake though. Clean almost polished nuggets (prob been in acid), no flour, no black sand, even the dirt looked cleaned, spot on 1 oz haha right. The company should be ashamed of the return %, especially if it truly was an older person or someone who is disabled forking out this kind of money for the love of prospecting.
Would be great to see a genuine sample of unsearched, unsalted concentrates, would never happen with the price of gold these days. I'm glad my gold only costs a bit of fuel money and a 30 min drive!
Was gonna say, lack of black sand was really suspect. Probably as you think that they're just measuring out some flakes and then tossing in a couple of small nuggets and mixing it all together with sifted dirt.

When you are bored in quarantine
Somebody needs to come up with a bucket that you buy that has a little everything in it like gold silver semi precious stones megalodon teeth whatever people are looking for these days in the dirt all in one Pay-dirt that would be cool.
The alleged point of the bucket is that they dig up paydirt and instead of processing it themselves they sell it for others to process at a price that allegedly will be an average payout of all the buckets. The promise is that if you were to buy the whole batch of buckets you would get enough buckets WITH a good amount of gold to offset all the buckets that won't have very much at all.
The reality is they know damn well that most of the buckets won't have anything in them and charge WAY beyond what they're worth if you add all of them together.
There's plenty of gemstone paydirt out there, i've done a few on my channel. They're OK if you're into that kind of thing, I prefer gold.

@@GrumpyIan Mostly they will already know before the pull the dirt out of the ground the amount of gold in each bucket, they will process the good stuff and sell the paydirt nearby that has sprinkles in it.

Glad to see that your still doing it. I and you talked when you were coming to alaska and I could put you up at that time. Since then, the last of my family died, part of me too I think as I am 73 now and can't walk at all now. I do know that some day you probably will come back to alaska and try something on your own although Colorado is high in gold as well. What I have is a crap shoot as I used a mini excavator and made wages for a long time. Gold was always teasing me with a come and find me. I would find ounces on one day and nothing the next few and be ready to leave and bang, three ounces in the conveyor. I don't mind finding gold but a little more consistency sure would of been nice. Between costs of operating and just eating my wages, I never ever really lost when I look back as it was some of the most fun I ever had working. My biggest piece was hung in my mini tracks. It wasn't pure as it shared some quartz and other so it got broken up and now that it is in very small pieces, doesn't have the feel of when first found thinking a gold nugget that would make a months wage turned into a couple days good wage. I just got too excited. So if you ever do make the trip out where I was at, it will be on your own with a camera crew knowing your M.O. and nothing wrong about that. I just had looked forward to meeting you more for the knowledge on guitars.

Klesh, I absolutely love your videos. I know you have probably thought of this and been told that’s 1 million times. It just sucks that you can drop $10,000 and only get 2000 back. I mean these companies got a pay their workers and stuff etc. but usually they only pay them with the gold that they recover. You would think they would at least let you recover $8000 in gold and in some cases put more than $10,000 worth of gold in some buckets to where they can get a little headway and make a profit as well. I get the novelty of them doing that. But $2000 is a really poor way for them to market $10,000 buckets. What’s crazy is Win $10,000 in scratch off tickets would probably get you closer to breaking even or having a better chance of a payday. Anyways this is been a long rant, keep up the amazing continent.
Ha ha. "I'll sell you a bucket of dirt from my house at half price..." Your response was great. I seriously could sell you river gravel/sand that I've collected in buckets over the past couple years and you'll find some amount of gold, but gold isn't the only thing I find in my buckets of river "dirt". I've got four diamonds now which are surprisingly clear, however, they are incredibly small, so they really aren't worth anything. They are worth something to me, but there is no market value. I also process much of my heavy material by roasting and with acids. It's not something I recommend because some of the unknowns I have to deal with are very toxic. (i.e. arsenic, thallium and possibly some cadmium as of last week.)
I wanted to thank you what you said at the end of the video. I'm disabled and even though it's very hard at times impossible for me to go out I have a butt load of equipment along with a generator to go in the back of my Wrangler if needed. During this time of uncertainty I'm going to try and get out with my son as soon as the weather changes. Keep up the good work and I really appreciate that you said that during the video.

He Introduced me to MREs as entertainment, now I have a couple laying around from MRE Mountain. I haven't eaten them yet just in case I need them for Covid19.
