I had a radical hysterectomy 10/16... I had such an amazing anesthesiologist...I can't say that's always been the case.... I have relapsing polychondritis... I've not had airway issues as of yet.... but I didn't want to start either. I made sure to let the anesthesiologist know about my RP and about the possibility of airway problems and collapsing possibility in RP and I made sure to tell him I've never had airway issues but could he please use a smaller tube and be more gentle so that I could hopefully avoid any irritation.... I'm pretty positive he went and looked up my condition.... because it's my understanding that giving pulsed steroids before or during surgery with this condition is recommended to avoid airway issues and I did not ask for that but my chart shows that's what he did. Most of the time I'm blown off and gaslit and pretty much told I don't have scleroderma or RP.... and that I made it up.... even though I have a rheumatologist who diagnosed these.... all this guy though.... he listened to me and he was nice and he must have actually cared. I made sure to leave his name and say some good things about him on my review that the hospital wanted me to do on how well they did...

@MedicalSecrets When exactly do you stop a Doctor from lying? At what point do you stop him, when you know that he is bull s******g you? I knew for a Fact When he told my dad "Oh it's Okay it's Just a little Fentanyl it only has 2 side effects drowsyness and possible Confusion When given with Anesthesia,
I'm sitting here going " 😮, what a F****n idiot I Know that you are lying because I have have DILAUDID, AND FENTANYL AND I GET ONE OR THE OTHER WITH EVERY NEUROSURGERY I HAVE ON MY SHUNT IN MY HEAD FOR HYDROCEPHALUS YOU JUST SAT HERE AND LIED TO MY FATHER YOU JACKASS"

Melody - for knee or hip surgery, I highly recommend getting a hospital type bed that mechanically raises and lowers legs. I used it constantly after hip replacement surger and it was so much more effective that using pillows to get height on your legs. I had very little trouble with swelling. In comparison to the mechanical bed versus pillows, it made a world of difference. If you can't buy a bed like that then see if you can rent one.
Also, highly recommend a bidet. I got one that attached to toilet seat and had a plumber attach it also to the hot water so I could get warm water. (Tip: a lot of people say there is a bit of leaking. I agree as the water seems to spray between the seat and the toilet. I minimized that problem with Press N. Seal plastic wrap. )
Not sure about the recommendations for knee surgery but I had 4 walkers all over my condo. Didn't use them for walking as much as they were used as a balance/safety device. I had two in my bedroom as kind of a railing that I could use to get to my bathroom.
Make some food ahead of time that you can microwave or get straight from the frig. For instance, I made small containers of mashed potatoes and also rice. And tuna salad. And containers of mandarin oranges.
    /.
Sign up for the grocery shop and delivery at your local grocery store.
Highly recommend laptop plus streaming services like Hulu, Netflix, Paramount. Kept me company when my sleep was messed up.
Handheld shower head with long cord. Also, check Amazon for package of stuff that helps after surgery (I got the Lumex Hip Kit - Post Surgery. Very helpful.)
    Hope these help.

I used to do lots of kratom, but one night we took just a tiny bit too much. We were having a great time and chatting like energised bunnies, then suddenly it just became too much. You get a kind of motion sickness any time you move. And the only cure was to just sit and wait it out for a few hours. Never took it again after that night. I kinda regret not becoming a doctor... Was accepted for computer science as I decided at the last minute to apply for that rather... But I'd had to be a an ear or eye doctor or something where you don't deal with lots of sad stuff all the time... I always enjoy your videos... I'm anxious as dog poop as I am in for very awkward surgery next week.

I had a meningioma brain tumor removed in 2003 and was told I would likely be fine neurologically; the tumor was cutting off the blood supply to my brain, pressing on the middle temporal artery. Recovery took years. I now feel I am autistic. I am over sensitive to loud noises, repetitive noises and light. I get overwhelmed and need to shut down, be in a quiet, known place. It is difficult to try to make people understand I have these issues. The Doctors and most medical professionals understand and will do all they can to accommodate me. It is the lay person I have difficulty with and by the time I try to explain the reason I'm acting so weird, I am usually at an overwhelmed
state. Yesterday I saw my Ophthalmologist and had to sit in a waiting room after having a tech do her light thing. I had to plug my ears, close my eyes and do deep breathing to stop a full on panic attack. Am I now autistic?

I have very easy veins btw. I have a procedure coming up and I'm sure they will require the IV be in my hand again. I dread that much more than the actual procedure! Is there anything I can do ahead of time to help with the pain? Thank you so much for what you do.

I have carcinoids few months ago had colonosopy. It was done in office.
I told them about condition and that they may want to talk to onocolgist as they didn't know the problems with anesthesia . They went out and and back said they had read on it no problem, but this is nurse giving meds. Long story they gave me propofol and threw me into a two week of mild(thankfully) carcinoid syndrome. When talked to my doctor renting to file and posted that only an anesthesiologist should ever give me meds like that and no excuses the documentation states exactly that for carcinoid patients.
How do I make it clear to doctors how dangerous it is for anyone but an anesthesiologist to give me meds like this.?
When had first surgery for this condition lost my BP 4 times.

He then cancelled the testing on the spinal fluid.. The cover up that ensued is like something no one has ever seen before and spanned over 4 months.. They failed to consider I would remain alive despite not getting the IV antibiotics treatment that would normally be given.. Less than a dozen true deaths are attributed to kratom. Most deaths have been drugs like fentynal mixed with kratom and this is misleading since fentynal is deadly by itself. I have had to get some chemo induced para neoplastic poly neuropathy pain relief since the govt and medical community took away my oxycodone that was my savior for twenty years. I find most doctors are stupid when it comes to treating pain. Four of us girls in my family developed CIPNPN after breast cancer. One of my sisters committed suicide because of the pain that doctors refused to treat. So how should her death be recorded?

I’m so sorry about your sister 😢 (Just a subscriber here) but the problems that have been created due to reclassification of pain meds that were working and now are prohibited is a concern that hits home for me.

I know about Kratom. Been using 9 years. I get my unafulterated powdered Krayom from a reputable online vendor yhat has it tested before they send any out. If not for this miracle plant i would be bedridden. I was on so many narcotic pain meds before that i totaled 3 cars over the 12vyears on pain mgmt. Was thrilled when a friend told me about this and linked me with lots of groups and dicumentary about it, rather than what main stream media ia saying, esp now. Many of us are advocates and some go cross country to advocate for it where they are trying to make it illegal. There are many products at the gas stations and smoke shops that claim to be Kratom, as well as Extracts which are bad and are what are causing all the bad rap. We only advocated for pure unadulterated powder Kratom. We even speak out ahainst these in our own groups.

Hi Everyone, is it ok to refuse to have a pre op nurse put an iv needle. I prefer to have my anesthesiologist do it?
