I think the bigger "sin" was the sin that lead your father down a very dark, lonely, hateful path to killing himself... He received no love, no compassion, no support to deal with his mental health issues. People literally die from a lack of love. I'm so sorry for your loss....

He was able to ask for forgiveness and the lord forgave and took your Dad home so he will be the first to greet you when it's time for the lord to take you home. No worries man.

Only those who have suffered a deep depression understand how it feels to be in so much emotional pain. Rest is sweet peace Mr Yoder.

I've been near that in my life. When you're in the depression it feels like it will never end and you'll be stuck like that forever. When you get the proper help and have the Lord it gets better slowly. RIP Henry Yoder.

I am an african american woman from the south but living in California. God bless you for speaking the truth and helping others to speak the truth, too. I've watched several of your posts. No one has the right to judge anyone's relationship with God because nothing can separate us from his love. Your father did the best he could. I'm a victim of incest and suffer from depression. Listening to others who have got out and overcome is therapeutic for me. Keep telling the truth. It's making a difference far beyond the Amish community in positive ways.

This verse was brought to my mind, seeing how they buried your father by himself in the corner.
    In the words of Jesus:
“Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone.
Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭32‬ ‭ESV‬‬
Praise God, he is always near to those who call on him.

He was Ill, he did not "commit" anything, depression isn't the soul talking, the strongest thing we have is the fight to live, God forgives the sick. He's not "by" himself, he's in his own "special" area as he was totally forgiven before he passed and he's free of the Amish.
    May he Rest in peace.

He had to be a good man because he had you and your brother (the cop), and you two are GOOD people. I know that you are going to be seeing your Father again in Heaven. And just think! Had they not there's no telling who he may have taken with him when he decided to take his life. Depression is a very serious illness. God bless you and your family, Eli. Thanks for the insight. Eli, I’ve lived and worked on my family’s Dairy Farm not too far from Holmes County in Ohio. I’m the 4th generation & even though I’ve met and spoken with countless old world Amish, New World Amish, & Mennonites I would’ve never guessed from those interactions that the Amish were capable of some of the things I’ve learned from watching your channel. Sure I’d seen those tv shows about “Escaping Amish” but never took it for more than face value but after hearing your stories and your guest stories I absolutely feel for anyone who has to put up with that stuff from day to day. I’m glad you made a channel and began educating us about everything ppl don’t see when they visit Amish Country.

We gotta do something to give this mans father the proper respect he deserves. Just try to imagine how it feels to be at the point where you've made the decision to take your own life, I been there.....a couple times. I didn't succeed obviously but its an unimaginable pain that doesn't feel like it will ever go away when you're in that state of mind. Nothing but doom and it feels you'll never escape. Me trying to explain doesn't do it justice. People that wanna say it's weak and cowardly are ignorant, you have no idea.

@eli yoder I couldn't imagine the position you have been in. Thank God, you have found peace and a true love for everyone. Your dad had his scars just like all of us....scars are often a factor in the scars we inflict on others. I think forgiveness is the key. It's tough but incredibly healing when we see the scars of those who have hurt us. It DOES NOT make it all OK but we are all human...prayers to you and your family. I'm sorry you have been through all you have, especially the situation with finally getting close with your father before he couldn't do it any more. Jesus loves all of us...even those of us who don't know what to do with our own wounds. Christ heals them all if we have the right heart and it's not based on any man made laws of acts.

Thank you Eli for sharing your story. I know it's a hard story to tell. We werent Amish but my father too was an alcoholic. I'm sure my father would have been shunned if we had been Amish! He ended up ending his life when I was 8 years old. So sorry you too lost your father to alcoholism :( It is hard! My brother is now 23 days sober!! We are excited and so proud of him.
If you are an alcoholic (or just have a drinking problem) PLEASE seek help!! Losing my father at 8 was hard, and I thought that would be the hardest but even in adult life, I miss out on so much because my father isnt here! No matter your issues, there are people out there that need you and want you sober! It will be hard at first, seek help from a doctor if need be!! My brother had to be on detox meds for the first week (he was hospitalized because he was so weak so he agreed to get on the detox meds to be done with the drinking! He drank for 42 years!! It nearly killed him! He couldnt even walk to the mailbox. A week prior to his hospital stay, he had walked the 30 feet to his mail box and fell, he couldnt even make it back to the house! Now 23 days later after his last drink, he can mow his yard AND check his mail! He's taking it one day at a time and is amazed and how much strength he is getting back. He's in his mid 50's! That may sound old to some of you but he's not "old" he was working up until 2yrs ago when he started becoming weak and couldnt even work. He's so ready to get back out there and work! Your body becomes addicted to the alcohol so just stopping cold turkey is hard on your body!! Please do not try to go at it alone if you can get to a doctor.
Another brother had a stroke at 46 due to his drinking. He is no longer able to carry on a conversation (he lost all speech when he had his stroke) It has been about 5-6 years now and he can say some words but still gets frustrated with trying to carry on a conversation. He is no longer able to work.
PLEASE if you have a drinking problem (even if you are stubborn and say you do not have a problem, that you can stop any time) Please seek help if you are able to!!

This is Jennifer Sinclair. I have heard of a lot of rotten things that the Amish have done to their own people, but burying your dad AWAY from other people because he suffered from major depression - this has got to be the most despicable action I have ever heard. And I am GLAD you ripped down the fence.
Even if your father died instantly Eli, he would still go straight to Heaven. God does not distinguish between physical and mental health the way some humans do. God accepts anyone that that did the best they could on earth. Whether they die of cancer or depression - it is all the same to Him. Shame on the Amish community that buried him separate from everyone else.

Wow, I just want to let you know something and share how I can relate in regards to a parent committing suicide. First of all, I am SO HAPPY when I heard you say that they found him praying. THAT IS JESUS RIGHT THERE! God did that- so he could go to Heaven. I honestly think so. How rare is it for someone to do that, and then be found alive praying. I am so happy that God showed him mercy. He felt every bit of pain he did. You have so much courage and I love how you stick up for Jesus and you talk righteously. You're my brother in Christ.
Re. parents committing suicide: when I was 12 my Mom died. My mom had a lot of problems and had an untreated chemical imbalance, was an alcoholic, and even bulimic. She always told me she wasn't going to live to 30. She told me she saw 4 fortune tellers in her life that told her that she was going to die at 29(uh oh..scary). It was a few days before her 30th birthday, and she told me she was going to die. She was fighting and before she left the house she was drunk, said she was going to die, and grabbed her car keys and left. She had a head-on collision with another car and died on impact from her head hitting the steering wheel. I always knew it was on purpose and spent many nights praying to God to please let her into Heaven.
God has been so good to me. I was a heroin addict for 10 years and after getting deceived by new age religion (because I never read the Bible-but I DID BELIEVE IN JESUS MY WHOLE LIFE.. I was just confused), I went through a 3-day demonic spiritual oppression and JESUS saved me!! He also took my addiction 100% away and has shown me his presence since then.
I am so sorry about your Dad and I understand that that must have been incredibly hard. I hope you can find peace in the fact that our Lord is a good Lord, and he has special plans for you and your salvation. I will pray for your Dad to be in Heaven tonight. I hope you don't lose your zealousness for the Lord. God bless.

Of course he is waiting for you. Even if he had not lived, God knew his heart, and knew he was suffering. I respect that you don’t judge, and that you can talk about him. Don’t know how you do that. It’s a painful thing. You’re a natural teacher, Eli.

Brother. Yoder I want you to know when you gave your testimony of your Dad praying and asking Jesus to forgive him of his sins I felt the spirit of the Lord. Our God gave him that chance to pray and talk to him that is all that matters.. Amen.
If he didn't get that chance I would be concern. I know of people killing themselves may not have had that chance as your Dad did that does leave me concern for them.. They are in the hands of a just God.. I don't get it or understand why they burrowed your Dad the way they did that is so very sad.. That brakes my heart and I don't even know your Dad or you or your family he got saved before he died that is all that should matter.. Amen.. Bless you and your family in the name of Jesus have a great day..

For those facing the fear of your loved one not getting a chance to repent or if it was suicide, whatever the case may be, and worried they didn’t make it to heaven; picture this. Your child, your own flesh and blood, says one day, I don’t love you anymore, I don’t want to be near you. They leave. Do you abandon them? No, you’re in anguish all the days of your life. And you pray for them to come back. One day they show up and they beg for your forgiveness, would you give it to them? How much would you give them? All of it, 100%. We cannot fathom the love our Heavenly Father has for us, but if the unconditional love you have your child is even a small fraction of Christ’s love for us, we cannot and should not judge eternal matters, that we know nothing of. But trust that God is in control. Always. ❤

@@albertraber5583 The elders of the church explain to my mother and the family that there’s no way God is going to allow my dad into heaven because he committed murder by killing himself so therefore since he’s condemned they have to bury him by himself, that is how a cult brainwashes people and make them believe things that is not biblical

I'm very sorry for your loss. It's such a shame that the coping mechanisms for such severe depression weren't readily available, though even the best treatments don't always work. Bonne chance, ami'.
