I think the bigger "sin" was the sin that lead your father down a very dark, lonely, hateful path to killing himself... He received no love, no compassion, no support to deal with his mental health issues. People literally die from a lack of love. I'm so sorry for your loss....
He was able to ask for forgiveness and the lord forgave and took your Dad home so he will be the first to greet you when it's time for the lord to take you home. No worries man.
I've been near that in my life. When you're in the depression it feels like it will never end and you'll be stuck like that forever. When you get the proper help and have the Lord it gets better slowly. RIP Henry Yoder.
I am an african american woman from the south but living in California. God bless you for speaking the truth and helping others to speak the truth, too. I've watched several of your posts. No one has the right to judge anyone's relationship with God because nothing can separate us from his love. Your father did the best he could. I'm a victim of incest and suffer from depression. Listening to others who have got out and overcome is therapeutic for me. Keep telling the truth. It's making a difference far beyond the Amish community in positive ways.
I'm very sorry to hear this I've had troubles growing up to parents who didn't want me and I suffered from depression and listening to Eli here and other people's stories helped me and thank you for being a strong surviver and your story its wonderful feeling to see others get to gether and get thro life a positive way and God bless your soul for being a surviver❤🙏
My mom was born two years earlier than you father. She also struggled heavily with addiction and depression, only because of how much pain she was in. I believe her and your father are looking down on us smiling because we are breaking the cycle. Prayers for you and your family. ❤
This verse was brought to my mind, seeing how they buried your father by himself in the corner. In the words of Jesus: “Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me.” John 16:32 ESV Praise God, he is always near to those who call on him.
Eli, love you brother. Glad you could find peace with this sad situation, you honestly are giving me so much inspiration on staying positive with bad situations we as humans have been given
People don’t commit murder against themselves. They get desperate when they think there’s no real way out. Everyone deserves respect in life and in death.
Thank you for sharing your story. He was Ill, he did not "commit" anything, depression isn't the soul talking, the strongest thing we have is the fight to live, God forgives the sick. He's not "by" himself, he's in his own "special" area as he was totally forgiven before he passed and he's free of the Amish. May he Rest in peace.
Many Amish suffer from depression and believe religion will take care of these issues. Bless your father he needed their support not their shunning Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for telling us about your Father. I hate the way the Amish treated him and his death. He didn’t deserve that. Your family didn’t deserve that. He had to be a good man because he had you and your brother (the cop), and you two are GOOD people. I know that you are going to be seeing your Father again in Heaven. And just think! He won’t be depressed and hurting! What a reunion it’s going to be!
Been addicted to your stories, been watching a lot of them. Your dad was sick and I'm glad the Amish at least let him go seek some sort of help. Had they not there's no telling who he may have taken with him when he decided to take his life. Depression is a very serious illness. God bless you and your family, Eli. Thanks for the insight. You are definitely a great person.
I was near tears seeing the devotion a son had towards his father that you showed by making sure your fathers grave was respected. You two will be reunited in heaven. I’ll see you guys there. God Bless.
Eli, I’ve lived and worked on my family’s Dairy Farm not too far from Holmes County in Ohio. I’m the 4th generation & even though I’ve met and spoken with countless old world Amish, New World Amish, & Mennonites I would’ve never guessed from those interactions that the Amish were capable of some of the things I’ve learned from watching your channel. Sure I’d seen those tv shows about “Escaping Amish” but never took it for more than face value but after hearing your stories and your guest stories I absolutely feel for anyone who has to put up with that stuff from day to day. I’m glad you made a channel and began educating us about everything ppl don’t see when they visit Amish Country.
We gotta do something to give this mans father the proper respect he deserves. Just try to imagine how it feels to be at the point where you've made the decision to take your own life, I been there.....a couple times. I didn't succeed obviously but its an unimaginable pain that doesn't feel like it will ever go away when you're in that state of mind. Nothing but doom and it feels you'll never escape. Me trying to explain doesn't do it justice. People that wanna say it's weak and cowardly are ignorant, you have no idea.
Sorry about your loss. My dad has been gone a long time now too and he still watches over me, his baby girl. Good for you watching out for his grave here while he will be watching out for you from above. Much love to you!
You sir are a legend among mortal men. Your quest for knowledge outside of your environment You were raised in is what humanity has done since the dawn of time
My heart breaks for you and your late Dad..I think God makes allowances for people with mental struggles, Your Dad is in Heaven, I'm certain. P.S. You Dad and I shared a birthday = )
@eli yoder I couldn't imagine the position you have been in. Thank God, you have found peace and a true love for everyone. Your dad had his scars just like all of us....scars are often a factor in the scars we inflict on others. I think forgiveness is the key. It's tough but incredibly healing when we see the scars of those who have hurt us. It DOES NOT make it all OK but we are all human...prayers to you and your family. I'm sorry you have been through all you have, especially the situation with finally getting close with your father before he couldn't do it any more. Jesus loves all of us...even those of us who don't know what to do with our own wounds. Christ heals them all if we have the right heart and it's not based on any man made laws of acts.
Sorry about your Father, Eli. I’m a new sub of yours. The way you speak about your dad really shows how much you love him. From different video, i really enjoyed the story about when you guys got pulled over bc the lanterns on the buggy weren’t lit and and was thinking you can get back home in time without having to light them, so y’all made a go at it! How your Pop perfectly blamed it on the horses (him being a “wiseguy” ).😂😂😂😂. You will absolutely be with him again , but when the time is right. Thankyou for sharing Sir. Best always, Joe
I'm so sorry for your loss. And yes, you'll see him again one day! Don't feel bad about where your Daddy is resting. If anyone asks, tell them that he's in the VIP section!
That just kills me to see your Father buried far away from the others. Wow! Terribly sad. Heartbreaking. Suffers in life; suffers in death. Peace be with you Eli.
Thank you Eli for sharing your story. I know it's a hard story to tell. We werent Amish but my father too was an alcoholic. I'm sure my father would have been shunned if we had been Amish! He ended up ending his life when I was 8 years old. So sorry you too lost your father to alcoholism :( It is hard! My brother is now 23 days sober!! We are excited and so proud of him. If you are an alcoholic (or just have a drinking problem) PLEASE seek help!! Losing my father at 8 was hard, and I thought that would be the hardest but even in adult life, I miss out on so much because my father isnt here! No matter your issues, there are people out there that need you and want you sober! It will be hard at first, seek help from a doctor if need be!! My brother had to be on detox meds for the first week (he was hospitalized because he was so weak so he agreed to get on the detox meds to be done with the drinking! He drank for 42 years!! It nearly killed him! He couldnt even walk to the mailbox. A week prior to his hospital stay, he had walked the 30 feet to his mail box and fell, he couldnt even make it back to the house! Now 23 days later after his last drink, he can mow his yard AND check his mail! He's taking it one day at a time and is amazed and how much strength he is getting back. He's in his mid 50's! That may sound old to some of you but he's not "old" he was working up until 2yrs ago when he started becoming weak and couldnt even work. He's so ready to get back out there and work! Your body becomes addicted to the alcohol so just stopping cold turkey is hard on your body!! Please do not try to go at it alone if you can get to a doctor. Another brother had a stroke at 46 due to his drinking. He is no longer able to carry on a conversation (he lost all speech when he had his stroke) It has been about 5-6 years now and he can say some words but still gets frustrated with trying to carry on a conversation. He is no longer able to work. PLEASE if you have a drinking problem (even if you are stubborn and say you do not have a problem, that you can stop any time) Please seek help if you are able to!!
I think even if your dad didn’t have the time to “get it right” God would forgive him because He knew your dad’s pain and that he tried to get his mind right and his mind being like that wasn’t his fault. Your dad is with the Lord. I believe that 100%.
Thanks for sharing your dads story with the compassion of a Believer. But geez, a lifetime of him struggling to be Amish and he gets no love or compassion that Christ himself commanded. As if they were all sinless!
Dang son! You and yer buds KICK-ASS! I've been watchin yer vidja's fer a while now and just stumbled on this story of yer pop's, God Bless you and yer's bud!
I watched this for the 2nd time. Bible says call on the name of the Lord and thou shall be Saved. Absolutely he is in Heaven , someday the 3 of us will sit down in Eternity n have a good Talk. God bless you Eli
Yes sir you are absolutely right we will all be sitting in eternity someday talking about this and how people judge. I have zero doubt in my mind that my father will be in heaven when I get there. God bless you my friend
I'm sorry for the loss of your father early, i lost my father figure last year he was hit and killed by a drunk driver. I hope I can see my father in heaven the same as you will some day.
This is Jennifer Sinclair. I have heard of a lot of rotten things that the Amish have done to their own people, but burying your dad AWAY from other people because he suffered from major depression - this has got to be the most despicable action I have ever heard. And I am GLAD you ripped down the fence. Even if your father died instantly Eli, he would still go straight to Heaven. God does not distinguish between physical and mental health the way some humans do. God accepts anyone that that did the best they could on earth. Whether they die of cancer or depression - it is all the same to Him. Shame on the Amish community that buried him separate from everyone else.
@@eliyoder491 I believe your father is watching you from Heaven and with you spiritually daily and he is so proud of you!!!! His child is speaking about fairness, standing up for what is right and ministering. Your father is smiling he is so proud of you (he was also proud of you for ripping the fence down. He was!)
You're a very interesting person. The Lord waks with you. I'm sure you're father is looking down and smiling from ear to ear, proud as can be of his son and the path he choose to walk. You be safe out here in the mean old world.
I'm so sorry to hear about your father! Been through the suicide attempts of 2 people in my life. It's not fun. Thanks for sharing your story with us. None of this was your fault. You could not have stopped him. If you had been there on that Saturday, maybe you could have stopped him that day, but he would have tried again. When someone makes up their mind to kill themselves, they usually succeed. I feel so terribly sad for your father. The needless suffering he had to endure. Breaks my heart! 💔 He’s at peace now at least! No more suffering in Jesus’ arms! ❤️❤️
Just last week I had a sibling’s husband call me and tell me they had been counseled and decided they didn’t want me to have any contact with them anymore because my first wife divorced me… this conflicts with their religious beliefs and how they want to raise their children….
It’s been 6 years ago now, I haven’t tried to be in their life, so I don’t understand the need to call and tell me! Religion makes ppl do terrible things 🥲🙃🙃😡
God bless you Eli, your family and especially your father. The pain is still raw, I can hear it in your voice. Thank you for sharing. All children are born under the creation of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We all bleed red. We are sinful creatures until we give our hearts to Crist, pray for forgiveness and repent from sin. Rest assured your father is on heaven.
God BLESS you for sharing! Yes, this is very difficult, but I rejoice with you that we WILL see your father when Christ returns for His beloved children! Stay strong!! ~Lyn Wynters, Nampa ID
Maybe the cemetery will get large enough to where he's in it everything's possible just keep burying people back towards him he will be in it thank you Eli
I sincerely believe that even if he didn't have time to pray, the lord knows his heart, knows the pain he was in, and would have forgiven him anyway - the lord doesn't condem those who suffer in his name - his mercy is beyond our comprehension - Jesus freeing us, in spite of knowing who we are is proof enough for me. Only the devine love of the lord of able to conquer the desperate failings of man - bless you Eli
To heal from the pain sometimes we have to let ourselves feel it. Deep down there are mechanisms that will make us feel better. We just have to have faith that that good will come. Thank you for always smiling, thank you for doing something different and great
Bless you bud. It must feel really great to get all of that off your shoulders. Your amazing. Thank you for sharing your closure with us all. I hope to one day be a able to do the same with my father and my brother. I just haven’t found it yet yet. But one day I will. Thank you for sharing.
That is like the love of the Lord to Let him have another chance, so touching, thanks for sharing, Reminded me of the thief on the cross next to Jesus. so sad how many don't understand
Wow. So sorry this happened to your dad. So glad you were able to get your head and heart in the place you are in. Give your wife and kids a big huge. Merry Christmas
Wow, I just want to let you know something and share how I can relate in regards to a parent committing suicide. First of all, I am SO HAPPY when I heard you say that they found him praying. THAT IS JESUS RIGHT THERE! God did that- so he could go to Heaven. I honestly think so. How rare is it for someone to do that, and then be found alive praying. I am so happy that God showed him mercy. He felt every bit of pain he did. You have so much courage and I love how you stick up for Jesus and you talk righteously. You're my brother in Christ. Re. parents committing suicide: when I was 12 my Mom died. My mom had a lot of problems and had an untreated chemical imbalance, was an alcoholic, and even bulimic. She always told me she wasn't going to live to 30. She told me she saw 4 fortune tellers in her life that told her that she was going to die at 29(uh oh..scary). It was a few days before her 30th birthday, and she told me she was going to die. She was fighting and before she left the house she was drunk, said she was going to die, and grabbed her car keys and left. She had a head-on collision with another car and died on impact from her head hitting the steering wheel. I always knew it was on purpose and spent many nights praying to God to please let her into Heaven. God has been so good to me. I was a heroin addict for 10 years and after getting deceived by new age religion (because I never read the Bible-but I DID BELIEVE IN JESUS MY WHOLE LIFE.. I was just confused), I went through a 3-day demonic spiritual oppression and JESUS saved me!! He also took my addiction 100% away and has shown me his presence since then. I am so sorry about your Dad and I understand that that must have been incredibly hard. I hope you can find peace in the fact that our Lord is a good Lord, and he has special plans for you and your salvation. I will pray for your Dad to be in Heaven tonight. I hope you don't lose your zealousness for the Lord. God bless.
Of course he is waiting for you. Even if he had not lived, God knew his heart, and knew he was suffering. I respect that you don’t judge, and that you can talk about him. Don’t know how you do that. It’s a painful thing. You’re a natural teacher, Eli.
Brother. Yoder I want you to know when you gave your testimony of your Dad praying and asking Jesus to forgive him of his sins I felt the spirit of the Lord. Our God gave him that chance to pray and talk to him that is all that matters.. Amen. If he didn't get that chance I would be concern. I know of people killing themselves may not have had that chance as your Dad did that does leave me concern for them.. They are in the hands of a just God.. I don't get it or understand why they burrowed your Dad the way they did that is so very sad.. That brakes my heart and I don't even know your Dad or you or your family he got saved before he died that is all that should matter.. Amen.. Bless you and your family in the name of Jesus have a great day..
For those facing the fear of your loved one not getting a chance to repent or if it was suicide, whatever the case may be, and worried they didn’t make it to heaven; picture this. Your child, your own flesh and blood, says one day, I don’t love you anymore, I don’t want to be near you. They leave. Do you abandon them? No, you’re in anguish all the days of your life. And you pray for them to come back. One day they show up and they beg for your forgiveness, would you give it to them? How much would you give them? All of it, 100%. We cannot fathom the love our Heavenly Father has for us, but if the unconditional love you have your child is even a small fraction of Christ’s love for us, we cannot and should not judge eternal matters, that we know nothing of. But trust that God is in control. Always. ❤
@@albertraber5583 The elders of the church explain to my mother and the family that there’s no way God is going to allow my dad into heaven because he committed murder by killing himself so therefore since he’s condemned they have to bury him by himself, that is how a cult brainwashes people and make them believe things that is not biblical
I'm very sorry for your loss. It's such a shame that the coping mechanisms for such severe depression weren't readily available, though even the best treatments don't always work. Bonne chance, ami'.

So sorry for your loss. God truly is merciful!
God bless you sir. In my heart of hearts I am fully convicted that the Lord forgave your dad. Soon we will sit at the Father’s table in God’s kingdom.

Thank you for your kind words and your support because it means a lot to me and God bless you
@@eliyoder491 I believe your father is watching you from Heaven and with you spiritually daily and he is so proud of you!!!! His child is speaking about fairness, standing up for what is right and ministering. Your father is smiling he is so proud of you (he was also proud of you for ripping the fence down. He was!)
@@tanickasinclair7035 Thank you very much my friend, that means a lot to me
You're a very interesting person. The Lord waks with you. I'm sure you're father is looking down and smiling from ear to ear, proud as can be of his son and the path he choose to walk. You be safe out here in the mean old world.
Thank you for this !..sending Love from Mississippi !
Wow, that is so sad and I’m sorry to hear you’re going through that
It’s been 6 years ago now, I haven’t tried to be in their life, so I don’t understand the need to call and tell me!
AMEN 🙏 AMEN 🙏
I love you man i love these videos keep it up.
Sorry about your dad brother. Im glad you were able to find peace in your struggles.
Thank you for sharing your information ℹ️ GOD BLESS U & your Family.
God bless you brother 🙏
Great story Eli I'm very touched by your words with the lord and your father is a wonderful man and angel God bless you and your wonderful family
I don’t blame you one bit about the fence. I’d done the same.
My condolences to you and your family. ((Hugs)) thank you for sharing such a painful event. Your faith keeps you strong.
God BLESS you for sharing! Yes, this is very difficult, but I rejoice with you that we WILL see your father when Christ returns for His beloved children! Stay strong!!

Heard this already, before...but Just Because. everyone has a Father. "Honor your mother and father, that it may go well with you" Shalom brother
Forget (about it in your daily thoughts) never ever Forget. Forgiveness makes bad things being done again and again.
Much love ✝️🙏
Maybe the cemetery will get large enough to where he's in it everything's possible just keep burying people back towards him he will be in it thank you Eli
My heart goes out to you brother I will pray to my gods lord Odin and lord for you brother to wish you well peace
No sin greater then another there's only one judge and he is at the right hand of the lord amen
Amen 🙏
I’m glad you took the fence down.
Awesome brother taking that fence down. Great
Just subscribe to your channel been watching for a few days and now. I really believe your dad would be very proud of you for what you accomplished
I know one day you will see him again in heaven. Your story was touching.
Thank you Eli for sharing
Always. ❤
Love in Christ
Feel you brother , God has ur papa , and he is no longer alone
Godbless you FOR EVER
Cannot believe they did that to your father 😢……
May your father rest peacefully and I am sorry about your childhood 😥
Hard to understand why they would bury him outside?????
@@albertraber5583 The elders of the church explain to my mother and the family that there’s no way God is going to allow my dad into heaven because he committed murder by killing himself so therefore since he’s condemned they have to bury him by himself, that is how a cult brainwashes people and make them believe things that is not biblical
@@eliyoder491 they might also be doing that to warn others?
Im sorry about your loss
The way you showed where he lies, then panned over to the rest of the graveyard, makes it look like he is finally free.... 🕊
I'm very sorry for your loss. It's such a shame that the coping mechanisms for such severe depression weren't readily available, though even the best treatments don't always work. Bonne chance, ami'.
