At MD Deathfest 2012 they kept teasing Funeralopolis with the intro to every song, by riffing without distortion for a few licks. The magnificent bastard.
Cool lesson, takes me back to the first funeralopolis lesson two years ago which got me into studying guitar. Always nice to learn a new piece of music. Cheers, Steve.
Spot on man. I read an interview with Jus somewhere that they recorded the album halfway between B and Bb. Maybe worth trying one day? Great work as always.
It’s one of those things that is simple on the surface but a breakdown properly done was much needed. It’s such a amazing little solo that is so integral to the that song.
Good to see you're using the peoples fuzz haha! I bought one after watching your boss comparison to it. It's probably one of my favorites now and I have a few expensive boutique ones. It just sounds great.
Thank you for this! I was using your advice in the previous Funeralopolis vid to work out this solo but there were some parts I couldn't get my head around.
GOOD SHIT BRO, been looking for a video on this for a minute now👍 i bought the behringer sf300 specifically for this song, took 3 months to come in though 😂
Electric Wizard is one of those bands that makes me wanna pass the car in front of me but i cant because an empty beer bottle rolled up under my gas pedal
Incredible tune. So much involved on what you think is simple. As always so much more going on to what you can hear. Thank you for taking the time to pull it apart. That 35rt sounds huge, is there much of a jump in tone from the 20 watt?
The tone here is coming from the SF300 more than the amp for sure. I liked both the 20 and the 35RT. For direct recording like this there isn’t much difference, but the 35 is bigger sounding in the room.
Great content my man...you are always spot on with your interpretation/cover of these songs,.. seemingly effortless... I was wondering... do you play in a band yourself or have any solo stuff recorded that is available to hear? BTW it would be interesting to hear you and Jason from Fuzzlord putting some songs down together....maybe a possibility in the future?
Thanks man! Wish I had more time to play guitar for fun but tbh so much work goes into all of the content that I rarely have time for much else. When I do it’s usually just some drone improv these days. Jason and I have talked about getting together and jamming; I’m sure it will happen someday.
Hey Steve, you have experience over a couple of Gibson and Epiphone guitars. Have you had to file nuts or do something with the bridges when you have gone up with string gauge? I have Gibson and Epi both and would like to try set of 12s but I'm not at all interested at modifying my guitars and would like to avoid it if possible. I like loose feel and normally use 10s for d-standard. I'm thinking C or B standard with the 12s.
Yes, typically you need to file the nut once you reach 12’s. I take my guitars to a luthier to have the nut slots filed when needed. I would pick a guitar and dedicate it to downtuning. Have a luthier file out the slots. It’s no big deal and you can replace the nut entirely if you want to go back.
i would kill for a crush 120! i have a marshall dsl 100h half stack and a randall 4x12.... just for an experiment , i have 2x12 subs under the stack. its so nasty ! i have to kill alot of bass because it just buries everything lol. i wound up putting a 300w crate head to power them so my volume is even. stil vibrates shit off the wall at ''4'' on the marshall , without the subs lol.
Hy Steve im about to tune my 24,75" scale guitar to B standard or Bb to play some Monolord and Electric Wizard stuff. So my question is which strings would be a good start? On my 25,5"scale i have 12-60 for C Standard it fits very nice for me. Maybe you got some ideas for me. Thank you for your content. Peace
@@ariomvitoria9936 I have a 24.75 scale guitar I've kept in B standard for a while and just recently set up in Bb with 13-65s and it sounds great and stays in tune. You could get away tuning to B with 11-56 on a longer scale guitar, but on my guitar using that gauge in the past the lowest I could get it to sound good/stay in tune is C# standard
@@ariomvitoria9936 nah definitely not too loose, Entombed and Type O Negative used 10s for b. Iommi used 9s in C#. This band Thou sometimes tune to drop E with 12s even

The way jus plays it live sounds so evil and great
Different every time. Great piece to jam over.
Cool lesson mate! So many of the Electric Wizard soundalike bands have the drone but forget the blues element...the root of everything Sabbathian!
Wizard definitely keeps the blues element strong.
Such a banger of a song. Thanks for the lesson man!
Thanks for watching, Lie!
Cool lesson, takes me back to the first funeralopolis lesson two years ago which got me into studying guitar. Always nice to learn a new piece of music. Cheers, Steve.
That’s awesome!
I think it's been like the only solo I've figured out by ear alone. I remember jamming this when I was 16 & pretty much nailed in straight away.
First solo I ever learned...and the only one))
Nice.
Spot on man. I read an interview with Jus somewhere that they recorded the album halfway between B and Bb. Maybe worth trying one day? Great work as always.
That’s interesting! I always figured they were tuning to something slightly out of tune.
Sounds lame, but I anxiously waited for this one. When I saw them in Philly he trailed off and jammed on this solo, it's incredible.
He always improvises it live. Never plays it the same twice!

Bro, great lesson, I've always loved that clean solo in the intro. Keep it up your vids are always great!

Great! That intro riff makes a great backing track to improvise over as well.
Cool solo! Also after watching some of ur vids I picked up an Epiphone g400 and a superfuzz and it sounds exactly like Electric Wizard 🧙♂️
Great combo!
Great stuff, Steve! This song is awesome live.

thanks so much

Thanks Jason!
The hyper / super / mega fuzz pedal tone that Juss used is still very mind blowing for me. The THE most disgusting tone.
