  • In this video I showcase both of my Mouldking QJ's. I go over some mechanical mods I've done to the both of them as a supplementary video to my original review. I also show the 2 engines double heading a passenger train.

    My modifications :
    I used 2 axles for the valve gear so splitting these so I could correctly set the phase (90 degrees). I also changed the flanged wheel placement moving the front flanged to the second axle so it would go round curves with less friction, but it did need a slight change to the front leading wheel
    Most important, I changed the gearing so it runs about half the speed which is a bit more realistic and less stress on the running gear.
    I do think this is a great model though and well worth getting. The full and correct implementation of the valve gear is great and produces a nice model with a lot of movement.

      I’d be interested to see what you did to gear down the loco’s transmission for better running.

      @@Dronesword123 I will dig out the instructions and compare them with build I did. Fundamentally I changed the vertical drive axis with a small black gear with 1 to 1 gearing to the 2 motors to a tan mid sized gear on the vertical axle so now there is about a 2x reduction in gearing.

    Dont use oil to lubricate plastics, use a silicon based spray lubricant.

      Why not use oil whats the difference also what about wd40 would that work aswell

      @nicjasno 2 года назад

      @@Kaithelegoguy oils/wd40 have acids in them that dissolve/damage the plastic, while silicone based lubricants don't.

      @@nicjasno so would a Vaseline type substance work then

      @@Kaithelegoguy Vaseline is also pertoleum based, so i would be sceptical.

    My channels profile pic is of the grand engine IAIS 6988. Sad that it is now in need of its 15 year mandatory rebuild and her last run was in June 2022 to Silvis, IL

      Some of the coaches are lego brand, from the old hogwarts set from the mid 2000's, one from the old red passenger set from lego, and a coach from the lego Emerald Knight set. The other two coaches were from a bootleg brick company called "Enlighten". If you are looking for nice passenger cars or even freight rolling stock, a german company called BlueBrixx makes nice rollingstock. You can find them on Bluebrixx.com
