As a professional artist, I said to an aspiring artist that I never felt gifted to paint, but rather that my life was evidence of what is possible when one commits whole-heartedly to living the life of one's choice.
When my dad moved out to LA and was doing a play, my mom pulled up a rollerdex with every casting agent’s contact info and wrote to them asking if they’d come to check out my dad at the play. Nobody responded…except for one. She was so impressed that she made sure to audition and cast him in any role she thought was a fit. It helped keep him afloat for years until he built a solid enough film career. So yes, cold calling can work (if you’re ready and prepared that is).
I love this. Speaking from personal experience it's so easy to not go this route out of fear of rejection. I've started to realize that in this industry you can't take rejection personally and should expect it more often than not, and never let it stop you from pursuing your dreams. Congrats to your dad!
@@sarimakbar3058 well to be fair this was in the 1970s before he hit his big break in the 1980s. So a lot has changed. Though I still believe persistence and doing the work is key.
So grateful for film courage as a channel and this particular video. I’ve been pursuing acting since June 2019 and I am taking the leap of faith into LA by end of this year. Would be so grateful if I could work with her. Thank you film courage for all you do. The woman behind the camera, I love you with all my heart. It’s easy to see you have such a pure heart and that you are genuinely curious about the people you interview. ❤️
Hi Maverex! Thank you so much for your generous support! Great to see you finding such value in our interview with Erica. We thought this one could have a positive impact for many people and we love to see that is the case for you. She also has a RUclips channel - ruclips.net/channel/UC_ijkwjZZISQQNQt3zqmWZg We appreciate your kind words! We are very fortunate to interview many of the people that we do and we certainly enjoy our time with them. Our best to you as you gear up for your move to Los Angeles. In the meantime, we hope you save up as much money as you can. Every bit will help. (No more Film Courage Superchats 😀). Exciting times, good luck!
I cannot even begin to thank you for sharing this. The final hour of this resonated to heavily for me with the last 2 years of Covid (and I'm sure multiple other people). Film Courage you're an anchor for those of in the choppy waters. I've said it before but thank you for creating this channel.

I love this. As a illustrator/writer (original graphic novels and series) this information is very on point for me. Thank you for sharing, Erica Wernick and Film Courage. Oh, I'm also I huge fan of Dr Joe Dispenza. Cheers from Canada.
Wow, thank you so much Janïsa! Great to see you finding value in Erica's teachings. Thank you for supporting this channel. Many blessings to you this year and beyond!
She's right. If I could have anything, it wouldn't be it all. I don't want to be the next Spielberg. I just want to be successful, able to pay for my shelter and food with creativity. My house is falling apart and moldy, I can't keep my pets, my car was totaled, my job is closing soon, 5 year relationship crumbled. I have almost nothing going for me except my hope, my will-- this video has helped crystallize all my beliefs, my dreams.
Shoutout to everyone chasing their dreams against the wind✊🏾❤️ Stay the course

Cold Outreach definitely works. It's a numbers game as well as a strategic communication game. You gotta have guts.

If Erica Wernick is reading the comment section, nonbinary people usually use they/them pronouns. I really enjoy listening to your content! :)
