The most interesting thing you can do with Morthal is roleplay that your Dragonborn is from there. It gives them one thing, exactly one, to be proud of.
@@plumbus7253 honestly, other than the beggars in the market, the surface of Riften looks very well off (which, to be fair, most of Skyrim feels pretty rich and poor simultaneously)

Well Falkreath, Winterhold, Dawnstar, and Morthal are really just towns. Winterhold(not including the college) is as big as Shors stone. Even though I think Winterhold is the worst city(not including the college) it still is a true Nordic city and used to be the capital of Skyrim.
At least Falkreath has a nice forest. Morthal is just a depressing swamp. Why they “settled” there, is baffling. There are more monsters around them than any other hold. Weird how many vampires you randomly encountered tho. There should only be 2 in town and the rest in a cave.
I've played Skyrim through so many times and watched some many playthroughs and this has been such a fresh series. Joe Joeman makes me cry tears of joy I think?

I actually think Dawnstar might be even less interesting than Morthal. At least Morthal has the weird vampire quest and the spooky haunted swamp. Dawnstar has a quest dealing with everyone having nightmares, and a crappy Mythic Dawn "museum" (some guy's collection at his house). The two towns are so similarly bland that I have to check the map to remind myself which one I'm in.

Honestly. Frickin' Falion. Dude just says "Here we go!" when you transform into a vampire lord. Bro knows he is an essential NPC, and he isn't afraid to flaunt it.
eh, i mean dawnstar has the dagon questline, the vaermina questline, and the second dark brotherhood sanctuary. morthal only has the vampire cure and the vampire den quests. its the area around morthal thats pretty cool though

I tried to tripwire an orc chief during a brawl once, and he immediately fully ragdolled. Like, the talk button was still there, but it didn't do anything, and he was very clearly dead. Just fucking tripped and snapped his neck smh.
Hey, Fallion curing your vampirism isn't the ONLY reason to go there... he also sells black soul gems. And for cheaper than the guy at the college of winterhold.
It's my belief that Morthal exists because the housing prices got so bad in Solitude that the poor were basically forced out into the swamp.
As a mushroom, this brings in good moneh. Continue raising the prices, it means more company in the cold swamps of Morthal.

I'd have probably said Dawnstar. Hjalmarch has a fairly interesting environment at least, while the Pale is just snow.
