Leaflit is totally right about the pauses in the flow of combat, and I think that's what Hyper Light Breaker is really missing. There is no "pause" mid fight for you to re-get your bearings because multiple enemies can attack at once, so even if you manage to Parry an enemy a lot of the time you can use that to catch your breath and maybe get a good clean kill because you'll get shot or clawed by the next enemy from behind 🥺 Hope Heart Machine can iron that out
I think it's actually because hit stop would fuck up your team mates if the world had to slow down. Could be resolved if enemies got stunned or flashed, but it can't work with multiple teammates.
There is something I noticed the guy from id saying when he was trying to hype up his game that I just realized you don't hear a lot of other modern AAA devs say about their game. "It's tons of fun". Seriously go back and listen to Compulsion. I might be wrong because they were really losing me, but I don't think they said the word fun once.
I'm so happy there's finally a character that represents me in video games... That lovable fatty in expedition 33. Man that game looks good. Also can't wait to not play south of midnight :)
It's always been that way. We may be fond of our locally-made videogames for nostalgic reasons (I am of some European games, same goes for Americans), but the real deal, actual peak gaming always came from Asia.
Well, they just retraced the same path we walked before. LOL. It's not like they did something revolutionary. You can see that all the famous Chinese games are pretty much just copies or heavily inspired by other succeful games.
Xbox game pass isn't even a loss for big developers, since it brings in an audience that couldn't afford or wouldn't have tried their game in the first place. There's a reason after all why big name games end up on the game pass every time. Think of it like piracy. Piracy has been shown to increase overall sales of a product because a portion of the audience can't afford or are not convinced by the initial product. But, after consuming the product and developing a level of attachment to it the likelihood they would go on to buy it increases. Game pass is more than just advertising you are paid to put out, it's a hook into a previously difficult to reach audience.
I'm not surprised Ninja Gaiden looks great.Platinum games have an amazing trace record. Bayonetta and Automata are excellent hack'n'slashers with excellent combat.
@@Call_Me_Baha older game maybe decades ago?? I was thinking star ocean 2 and the remake a few years back when she was talking about brawling combat. but fond memories of people that are no longer here and companies that are now just skin suits they wear, I'd be cautious about nostalgia baiting and old IP without the old crew, and even with old crew some people change so much and so into this new thing they must make ya obey that I just check out when they wig out
As a fan of 40k, I like morally grey when I'm doing evil shit so what's grey is that there are no good guys. Your side is evil, their side is evil, but you care enough about your own side to overlook all the evil it actively commit. In the Witcher Geralt does contracts for humans and humans are evil. The trailer where Geralt muses on the philosophy of good and evil concluding with "Witcher's hunt monsters" as he kills a group of guards is the morally grey that I'm here for. Not a grey because of different we need to discuss what we define as evil, most people have an understanding of what evil looks like from their up bringing, a grey because we are meant to be good stained by acts of evil.
38:15 I know what you mean. I've tried designing it as a hobby. Rundown is you have a pairing of up to 4 characters on each chess space. Front and back vs sides. Your characters being side by side, diagonal or infront has tactics available. Of each combat, you can act at the same moment of your allies or in order such as debuff then crit or team attack depending on grouping each turn. Characters have reacts on opponents before, during and after dttacks as passive setups, you can extend atks if some land as your next move. And when atking in orders due to spd, the next character can wait until other's attack first. You get the full flow of battle to your discretion. Another idea I had was like a zombie apocalypse and the turn based eould be on predicting movement, then playing the scenario, allowing you to pause and edit plans, but no turning back time. Food didn't heal until after 2 turns and it was gradual. You can guess why I scraped it. Edit: You might want to look up a game I think called Caligula effect. Liam played it. I think its beat described like a jrpg with setup and folloeup combo attacks. Have only seen a clip, but it might be it.
The chess-like game sounds interesting. It sounds like it has a lot of depth. As for the zombie game, I haven't played it, but there is a game called Phantom Brigade that sounds similar in concept. This one has you control a squad of mechs that can see 5 seconds into the future, and each turn has you plan your squad's actions for the next 5 seconds. You basically plan the battle 5 seconds at a time. Baldur's Gate also has a combat system that is real-time until you pause it, when you can adjust what each member of your party will do (where they will walk, who they will target, what attack or spell they will use, etc.). Another somewhat similar game was a strange turn-based game from Jagex (the creators of RuneScape) called Bachelor's Fridge (the game no longer exists). It was a game where you had to anticipate where the enemies would be and use targeted attacks like punches, linear projectiles, grenades, and jump attacks).
I haven't played it, but there is a game called "Phantom Brigade" that is sort of similar to what Leaflit is describing, a turn-based and real-time mech fighting game with position-based combat. While not a JRPG, it does seem to have simple combat actions centered around a dynamic battlefield. Basically your team can see what will roughly happen in the next 5 seconds of the fight, and you have unlimited time to plan out what actions your mechs will execute in the next 5 seconds -- moving, shooting, etc. You of course have to be careful with your actions, avoiding moving into the enemy's projectiles at the wrong time or even moving into friendly fire. That Phantom Brigade format of combat (but maybe with shorter time limits for planning) is really the only way I can think of that you could manage the sort of game she is describing with multiple members on your team. Otherwise it would probably just be an RTS game. Also, the thing they're describing at 41 minutes might not necessarily be a "morally gray" thing. It could be mechanics like Triangle Strategy where maybe your team composition creates a dynamic story line based on what course of action they vote on, or maybe it could manifest in something like killing off your teammates, bombarding someone's hometown vs attempting a more dangerous up-close-and-personal way to defeat the enemies, or generally increasing the chances of certain negative random events if you have team members who dislike each other. Basically just picking your poison when faced with multiple bad outcomes. Seems pretty fitting for a game where it looks like you're up against an unthinking enemy that just does what it was designed to do. Though, that could just be unnecessary complexity in a game.
At 10:30 The word you're looking for is "Vicariously". And yes I completely agree and have said this for years! The movement of your character IS the majority of your gameplay and if they don't nail it the game often sucks. Fromsoftware nails this!
50:10 I think so too there's so much empty space between things it gets kinda annoying to traverse, probably also why I like the yakuza games maps are small but dense with restaurants and side activities you can interact with
Yeah hopefully Team Ninja is handling most of the combat and Platinum is only a support studio. I do not want it to play like Revengeance and I absolutely do not want it to take influence from Sekiro.
ID is cooking HARD with the new doom. The one SINGULAR thing I am concerned about and hesitant on is the glory "game ends" (I hate having to use double speak because of YT). It looks to me like they got rid of how it put you in a very fast animation which was incredibly satisfying to watch, and instead went with quicker but a bit more boring kick, shield bash, and flail hits as finishers instead. No more flashy glory "game ends". Instead, ones that don't take you out of the flow of combat. I'll hold further judgment till I get my hands on it but it is a concern I have.
I think they did this because even if the glory kills of eternal and 2016 were fast, they still locked you into an animation mid fight. so yes, they did a compromise with making them less spectacular, but faster and more fluid. but like you said, it is probably best to see how the game actually plays to fully judge this decision.
@@rorsieYea, could also argue that it gave you a small reprieve from the chaos though. A nice moment to catch your breath in between moving at Mach 5.
Imo, the removal of the forced animation feels more natural during the combat. Just like in CP when you play melee only and you did a melee takedown, it looks cool but it feel unnatural, in contrast with netrunning and gunning
@publicitytop I'll 100% agree with you on cyberpunk, there was only one bladed animation that looked cool and the rest were halfassed to the point that they were hardly even finishers. But cyberpunk also wasn't as fast paced I'd say, you could slow down time and think about how you wanted to play things. Doom, those were literally your only moment to breath until the fight is over.
@@rorsie TBF the goal of this game as stated is to make you a walking juggernaut/tank of a unit, so IMO this is where you should have those more spectacular kill animations at the cost of slowing the pace a bit. If the general pace is slower to give the player a power fantasy, you should go all in on satisfying that fantasy (especially with 3 separate melee weapons and the saw shield having so much creative potential). Unless you want to argue that Eternal/2016's glory kills offered the player a bit of reprieve from how fast paced and intense the fights would get sometimes, by letting the player collect themselves and plan the next movement. In that case then the new one slowing it down with animations on top of the slower weightier combat could lead to it just getting to slow and boring.
I really need to try getting back in to do maternal, but it’s just been kind of hard to really want to pick it up, including to play the old guard DLC. Spoilers below Basically, the people who wrote the old gods DLC basically did a sucker punch at the very end Where they revealed that in this version of the doom cosmology, Lucifer basically won his rebellion, and God is now the dark lord. It would bother me a lot less if it hadn’t come out of nowhere and we’ve had much less devil good God bad plot lines lately. Honestly, the one thing that keeps me from being super pissed about It is the fact that in these iterations of the game both sides are pretty much Assholes and humanity really is the only good side. Here’s a better explanation I copied from a Reddit convo “I know I'm probably super in the minority here but bear with me bc I don't think this feeling is necessarily exclusive to me-- as a religious man it just left a bad taste in my mouth. I really dug the way that up until TAG2 the series was almost comfortingly clear-cut: Humanity good, demons bad. Then VEGA turned out to be God, and I was like... yeah ok! They're a chill dude, I can get behind that. I'm down. And then TAG1 had the reveal that the reason Davoth went off the deep end was because he was created with so much love for his people that he went mad trying to achieve immortality and the Father sealed him away but couldn't kill him because they had so much love for their people, I was like yeah alright!! I love the sympathetic angle-- I can't wait to feel vaguely bad when I finally get to blast Davoth apart. And then TAG2 was like JUST KIDDING, THE DARK LORD IS GOD, GOD IS EVIL* (see edit below) and it's like... on top of the yeeeeugh factor, and the fact that it doesn't really add anything to the story (more of a lateral shift into more-confusing town) besides a last minute twist for the sake of a last minute twist, and the fact that I can no longer use Doom Eternal as an example of why Video Games Aren't Evil when I get dragged into conversation with more... fundamentalist folk ("no see you're KILLING demons, because you're on GOD's side!"), it's also just... idk, almost a cliché at this point. God being evil is the kind of low hanging fruit I've come to EXPECT from modern cynical storytelling. If you want to get brownie points for it, you better really set it up and nail the payoff. TAG2 didn't. Up until now I found Doom's approach to the quote unquote "religious" side of its content matter surprisingly refreshing. So idk, it didn't "shock" me so much as it just disappointed me on multiple levels. EDIT: I know the twist was more complicated than "God was evil all along", like Davoth wasn't always a bad guy before the Maykrs betrayed him, but it's gonna take a lot of doing to convince me that that wasn't the bottom-line idea behind the twist.” “Hey man, thanks for taking the time to reply! That's a really interesting perspective. I wasn't raised religious so I'm curious as to what about the final lore twist was such a line crossed, especially compared to other plot points in the game like heaven double crossing humanity and doomguy beating the crap out of two major archangels. To me it feels like they're playing very loosely with any biblical analogies, the fact that Davoth came first and created The Father doesn't necessarily make Davoth God any more than it makes The Father Satan. I think they're just playing around with the order of things to emphasize how the Doom universe is so harsh and unforgiving because it was literally created in the image of the devil. For all we know the Father is still a benevolent, altruistic being akin to God, and the reason he sealed away the Dark Lord (rather than kill him) was to protect the universe from his evil. I can see how it could be upsetting for a game that relies so heavily on biblical iconography to take something so fundamental to christianity and present it backwards - but still I encourage you not to let it ruin your enjoyment of this fantastic game!” “Oh no, it doesn't ruin the game for me at all-- it just leaves the experience with a funny aftertaste, which as I understand TAG2 did for lots of people anyway even without religion-related quandaries. I totally get and agree with how the game plays fast and loose with the biblical iconography and stuff- nothing in the game is meant to be a direct 1-to-1 correlation with Christianity. The more I think about the context and circumstances of the twist in-universe, the more I can kinda wrap my head around it in a positive way, like how Davoth WAS a benevolent and loving god in the past, and hey, VEGA is still around (kinda) and he fits the bill for a proper loving creater quite nicely! I'm also interested to see if they decide to continue toying with the idea of other universes, like I think they hinted at at one point, the Doomslayer himself being from an alternate Earth. As for heaven turning against humanity and the Doomslayer beating the tar out of high-ranking angels, it's pretty simple IMO: both Khan Maykr and Samur Maykr were operating on their own agendas, not the Father's. Even the bible itself sets a precedent for rogue angels, see Lucifer. They're not perfect beings. I think more than the twist itself, which like we've been saying has enough degrees of separation from actual religion to be more-or-less comfortably brushed off, what bothers me is that it's very easy to read some of that sort of cynical disrespect for religion that's so common these days into the plot in a meta sense, which disappointed me after how "flattering" a depiction of "God" VEGA was and how the game seemed to treat it before.”
Im just worried about platinum participation, the enviromental additions look sick but the combat its a bit sus, I can already see too much visual hints on the enemy atacks, those indicators of when to attack, and I dont see the enemies dashing or blocking but... lets wait, it could also be about the dificulty level The other thing im worried its the lack of multiple weapons, maybe there is but theres non in the trailer, so it could be no extra weapons, and im worried cuz I personally didnt liked the lack of combos on Nier Automata, go watch the full list of movements of any ninja gaiden weapon, it will probably have more animations and attacks than the whole Nier automata, so im worried this ninja gaiden can have just 10 movements, really cool movements but the same with nier, it becomes boring at the long term
The turn based game is interesting but if the paintress turns out to be a misunderstood woman who only wanted to fight against the patriarchy there's going to be lots of flipped tables.
Hazel is definitely gonna be a protect nature and indigenous activism allegory. Canadian devs SBI Deep South… little gameplay…. Further I can because the way they speak “echoes of the animals and mend them” (so Zelda ripoff?) then the “who could do that to a person” either talking about slavery or some other injustice self insert. Yeah doesn’t take a genius to see what that unspeakable thing was. Not to mention the very first clip taking about some shelter. And the SBI involvement.
Mick didn't meet deadlines at all. He wasn't all that professional. Y'all painting him like some kinda saint 😅 Also to make it clear I'm not on ID's side neither because they didn't have a clear communication with him. If you want to miss on a great game like Doom The dark ages that's okay? Just know that won't help Mick in the slightest or hurt ID at all. That's just kinda your loss.
@@kaijukyruyeah I played WuWa and PGR, SOA combat looks like a soggy bread. But probably I'm wrong and willing to try unless it's infested with DEI then I'm identifying as non-buynary. Edit: guess I'm a non-buynary
Only certain AAA studios are thinking of this out loud. But when it comes to studios from the Far East to go that far with their pricing…that being said… Nintendo is likely going to start releasing their games at $70 come the switch 2 generation start-up… and probably Square Enix will do the same with more of their releases, Capcom probably as well.
For South of Midnight, nothing looks good. They act like the most basic elements of combat, like combos, are something new. The other gameplay is a cheap knockoff of Okami and Loom, which are much better games.
Sweet baby inc did work on Alan Wake 2 and God of War: Ragnarok. I know they have a terrible track record recently, but not even giving South of Midnight a chance is crazy. Alan Wake 2 and God of War were nominated for game of the year.
They hate white people and "gamers" by their own words (the people they hire make the words theirs). DOA, and Compulsion will be shuttered before the end of 2025.
@@kretismeI think that has more to do with AAA studios pumping literally stupid amounts of money into modern games rather than the game actually selling badly.
@@Torikame1 Can you explain that? We screwed the pooch when we accepted Steam and digital downloads period. That's why I have a huge HDD of cracked backups in case of games getting taken down. Like Epic did to Unreal Tournament recently for example. None of these games were live service. Most of those have been falling on their face lately. I just don't see what you're getting at.
Time for My opinions on the games showcased: Ninja Gaiden 4 + Ninja Gaiden 2 Black: Not much that needs to be said, Both games look absolutely Amazing, Super hyped for Ninja Gaiden to be back after all this time. Between Ninja Gaiden, Like a dragon Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii which is giving us the Pirate game poopisoft couldn't, and Nintendo just finally showcasing the Switch 2, as well as games from last year like Shadow generations, Astro Bot, Marvel Rivals, Metaphor and so on, Asian Country Devs and studios keep winning!! South of Midnight: Yikes.... Not gonna lie, it gives of massive Forespoken vibes to me, maybe its personal bias, but its the way the devs talk about it, that really gives off this Forespoken vibe. Also the combat seems very standard to me, its not as bad as something like Dragon age the veilguard, but the combat more so gives off the vibe of Say Hogwarts Legacy, Not bad, but just standard and uninteresting to me. But to give a positive, I do Like the art style of the game, I may get hate for this, but I think the Obsession with Ultra high realistic Graphics that the Western AAA industry has is only hurting gaming as a whole, so While everything else about the game is telling me to stay away, I at least respect it for going for a nice art style. Expedition 33: This is actually looks very interesting I and Think that its at least worth keeping an eye on. I really like the Premise and with the devs talk and showcase of trying to evolve turn based combat, It sort of reminds me of how Paper Mario the thousand year door does its turn based combat, its obviously not a one to one comparison but I just think its cool to try and evolve what that game did on a grander scale. Definitely intrigued me. I do agree with Leaflit about morally grey characters, I am so tired of them. Its like how everyone said Superman was boring so they either tried to make him edgy or just straight up evil, and they did that so much and so poorly that people just wanted good old boy scout superman back, And that's how I've been feeling about Morally grey characters lately, they've been done so much and so poorly 98% of the time that I just want good guys vs bad guys or bad guys vs worst guys back. DOOM: The Dark Ages: What more is there to say but RIP AND TEAR!!!!!!!!! This is absolutely going to be a 9.8/10, the only thing too make it a 10/10 is if Isabelle was here XD But seriously This game is gonna metal so hard!!!
22:48 What I noticed almost right away was that the character seems to be moving around weird right there. Maybe the game isn't done, it just gave off a, "Oh no, is this buggy?" vibe. And also the old, "Women are super powerful because they have some sort of magic," type of thing. It feels fine in other games. Like, I never have a weird feeling about Aerith being super powerful because she has magic. But in this sort of setting, it just makes me think of all the psychic grifters who were telling everyone Kamala is still going to be president. I do like the style. There are just a lot of elements that I feel a bit wary of. They tend to lead to "woke nonsense" games. I wouldn't say, "There's no possible way this could be good." But I'd say, "This reminds me of Dustborn/Forspoken in style and demeanor."
@@emeryltekutsu4357 I don't want to completely write off South of Midnight just yet, But there are most definitely signs of those trappings that lead to those types of games like Forespoken or Dust born. But the things that really throw me off and make me think "yikes... Its going to be one of those games, isn't it?" Is how they talk. Like the dialogue from the characters feel Very artificial or inorganic to me. Like when the house breaks away in the hurricane and Hazel yells "MOTHER!!" Maybe Its just me, Maybe its a culture gap, But I feel like most people would just scream MUM!!" in that situation. Maybe it's meant to show the strained relationship between the two, but I don't know it all feels artificial to me. But its not just the in game dialogue its also how the developers talk about the game too. Phrases like "reweaves these stigmas" and "the world gradually shifts into the surreal" It all feels artificial or forced to me, Like everything is completely pre-planned to the letter, no room for adlibbing or giving real time thoughts, you gotta stick 110% to the script, Its like a door to door salesman desperately trying to sell me something, or an employee that's forced to say the stores slogan every time they greet a customer. But I didn't feel this way about any of the other teams, Granted I didn't read the Subtitles for Team Ninja but I didn't need to because they let the trailer/gameplay speak for itself first. When the showcase for "Expedition 33" started I thought that it was going to be a second verse same as the first situation but I was Pleasantly surprised. When the Devs started talking about Expedition 33 You could tell that they have a passion for the game they are making, even down to reworking their main system to be more manageable, and you can tell the team cares by the way they talk. Id Software is very clearly passionate about the Doom series, and again, you can tell that by the way they talk. Even when Hugo Martin Mouths the title instead of saying it, and then seemingly breaking script he goes "That was so stupid, I mouthed the words" followed by Marty Stratton breaking out in laughter, and if you listen close I think you can hear the Camera man laughing too. And if that was truly a breaking the script moment they could have redid the take or cut it out, but they left it in and that makes them feel Genuine, And with all the other 3 studios you can tell they have a love for the craft. But I don't feel that love with South of Midnight. Everything about South of midnight, from the in game dialogue, to the Generic looking Combat (in My Opinion,) to how the devs talk about the game. It all Screams artificial to me. So it's definitely a "wait til after release) type of game. I hope my ramblings are understandable, I'm not very good at explaining my thoughts...
@ I agree about Expedition 33. At first I was a bit skeptical, but as they talked it felt like they were really into what they were doing, and they were excited to talk about some of the unique features they were trying to implement. Even though it's not a style of game that draws me in, I actually got a little interested in some of the things they were talking about, like the character who takes other forms. It felt like the other teams were very interested in the things they were implementing in the game and the type of gameplay while the one team seemed more interested in their movie. It's not that there weren't any elements that I liked. I think the setting is cool, and the style is neat. It just gives off a different vibe from the others that doesn't give me the same confidence. I don't want to say this is definitely like a Forspoken game. Maybe it's not. I just feel a bit wary about what type of message they might push in it.
@emeryltekutsu4357 yeah, while the other 3 teams feel very passionate about the games they're making, from their mechanics to the worlds and so on. But the team behind south of midnight feel like they're more interested in pitching a movie or Netflix series more so than actually creating a game. I don't want to say that this will be a forespoken 2.0 but I can't deny that south of midnight has the same trappings that lead to games like forespoken. I don't think this will be as bad as something like dragon age the veilguard or Concord, and unlike forespoken, I like the premise and art style of south of midnight, but there's just too much about it, from the way dialogue is spoken to the way the team talks that just reminds me too much of those other games. The best way I can describe it is that it feels like a modern day Sony exclusive or modern day naughtydog game
The game looks fine. Probably the least interesting one they showed but not bad. I think all 4 games in the presentation looked good. What's wrong South of Midnight?
Ninja Gaiden and Expedition 33 are what I’d play. One, I didn’t know that Dead or Alive featured Ninja Gaiden characters. I remember an old friend played Momiji and would smoke ppl daily with her. While the expedition 33 story seems interesting. It reminds me of that “In Time”movie where ppl had their lifespan on their wrist I believe. I wouldn’t play anything made by that compulsion studio and I was never a doom player.
I'm excited for Ninja Gaiden and Doom, the other two meh. I learned when developers like to show their faces more than the game it is a sign to me the game will be mediocre at best.
Ninja Gaiden 4 is easily the best one, in my opinion. Always gotta put respect on Platinum. Their action games are some of my favorite. Games 2 and 3 are easy passes. DEI and French-made. DoA, for me. Doom: The Dark Ages _would_ have been the best of this list, if they didn't add the baby mode options. If you play Doom on "journalist" difficulty, you didn't play Doom. "Accessibility" in this context is just code word for dumbing it down. And the games industry does not need more dumbing down/hand holding. I also worry with stuff like parries, mechs, and dragons, that they'll lean too hard into gimmicks, and water down the core gameplay. It still looks good, but I have my reservations.
I mean, other than dei of midnight, this lineup is looking nuts. Ninja gaiden 4 is gonna be lit, and doom the dark ages is just power fantasy deliciousness chefs kiss.
There is no problem with women devs working on the game so long as they earned their post unlike alot of DEI hires like the one working on Halo yet hates and is uncomfortable with guns. Also the 3 games displayed here were really interesting this time, except did you know that the Ninja Gaiden 2 Black trailer here is the censored version were they cut out all the playable women like Rachel, Momiji and Ayane from the trailer entirely.
Ninja Gaiden Vs WokeAge: Swampguard. East Vs West. One fckn dude in South of Midnight studio has lesbian hair cut and his name's Jasmin 😂 you can't make this up!!!
The French RPG seemed interesting, until it ended up being French. It's about ennui. Edit: Tomorrow Comes would make a much better title than Expedition 33.
Do not let the previews fool you, last year Microsoft put in a requirement for all studios under to prioritize DEI... A big hint is how much they are showing of clips of the Studios and their "diversity" vs the games. South of Midnight is already a known DEI game and I have no doubts the others will be too.
Is that a bad thing like I’m all for more diversity in gaming if the game itself is good and South of Midnight looks at least intriguing ya know Edit: also I’m not sure what DEI means
@@nevermore7285 It was a requirement by microsoft (who owns them), during production. At the very least the studio will be full of DEI which will have a negative impact on the final product. I enjoy how Dark Ages's "stand and fight" design philosophy correctly reflects the age of those of us who grew up with DOOM.
Id Software is solo-carrying the USA for game development right now. Thank you, Texas.
Asians = gaming is back.
Unironically true
It's always been that way. We may be fond of our locally-made videogames for nostalgic reasons (I am of some European games, same goes for Americans), but the real deal, actual peak gaming always came from Asia.
Well, they just retraced the same path we walked before. LOL. It's not like they did something revolutionary.
You can see that all the famous Chinese games are pretty much just copies or heavily inspired by other succeful games.

Yeah, but so are the bad games being inspired by good games. The difference is the Asians copying the good elements.
I didn't know Doom was from Asia. 😝 Gaming has been back since 2016 for me. lol
Are there VODs of Leaflit playing the Doom games? Because if there are, I need them! 😭

I like that there is a wide variety of stuff that takes place in very different settings.

I know what you mean.
Edit:
You might want to look up a game I think called Caligula effect.
These games look sick
I definitely agree on the open world side with so many of them i find it also effects the general story flow of the game
as soon as she saw a mech leaf was hooked lol
At 10:30 The word you're looking for is "Vicariously". And yes I completely agree and have said this for years! The movement of your character IS the majority of your gameplay and if they don't nail it the game often sucks. Fromsoftware nails this!

52:02
Leaflit and I are both thinking the same thing.
Bro im so excited that we are getting a new ninja gaiden game its been years
3:30 Is that the VA for Raiden from Metal Gear Rising?
Welp. Time to play Doom.
I, for the most part, only play anime style eastern games, but that Doom game is calling to me! I hope it comes to PC!
I really need to try getting back in to do maternal, but it’s just been kind of hard to really want to pick it up, including to play the old guard DLC.
Spoilers below
Basically, the people who wrote the old gods DLC basically did a sucker punch at the very end Where they revealed that in this version of the doom cosmology, Lucifer basically won his rebellion, and God is now the dark lord.
Here’s a better explanation I copied from a Reddit convo
“I know I'm probably super in the minority here but bear with me bc I don't think this feeling is necessarily exclusive to me-- as a religious man it just left a bad taste in my mouth.
EDIT: I know the twist was more complicated than "God was evil all along", like Davoth wasn't always a bad guy before the Maykrs betrayed him, but it's gonna take a lot of doing to convince me that that wasn't the bottom-line idea behind the twist.”
“Hey man, thanks for taking the time to reply!
I can see how it could be upsetting for a game that relies so heavily on biblical iconography to take something so fundamental to christianity and present it backwards - but still I encourage you not to let it ruin your enjoyment of this fantastic game!”
“Oh no, it doesn't ruin the game for me at all-- it just leaves the experience with a funny aftertaste, which as I understand TAG2 did for lots of people anyway even without religion-related quandaries.
Would Dragon Age Origins be a good example of what shes talking about here? 37:05

Great video
Im just worried about platinum participation, the enviromental additions look sick but the combat its a bit sus, I can already see too much visual hints on the enemy atacks, those indicators of when to attack, and I dont see the enemies dashing or blocking but... lets wait, it could also be about the dificulty level
The other thing im worried its the lack of multiple weapons, maybe there is but theres non in the trailer, so it could be no extra weapons, and im worried cuz I personally didnt liked the lack of combos on Nier Automata, go watch the full list of movements of any ninja gaiden weapon, it will probably have more animations and attacks than the whole Nier automata, so im worried this ninja gaiden can have just 10 movements, really cool movements but the same with nier, it becomes boring at the long term
Im basically worried about the things I didnt liked at all from Nier Automata being something in this game
Hopefully they will.

Time for My opinions on the games showcased:
Ninja Gaiden 4 + Ninja Gaiden 2 Black: Not much that needs to be said, Both games look absolutely Amazing, Super hyped for Ninja Gaiden to be back after all this time.
The DEI SBI disgusting south of midnight is DOA

Respect ninja gaiden, this is the OG, it was doing this before stellar blade was even a concept in the creator mind
Ninja Gaiden existed before Stellar Blade even entered the minds of
I'm excited for Ninja Gaiden and Doom, the other two meh.
Game pass is straight garbage
Nah. Its a life saver. You know how many trash "AAA" games I didn't have to pay full price for just to uninstall the past 3 years?
I mean, other than dei of midnight, this lineup is looking nuts. Ninja gaiden 4 is gonna be lit, and doom the dark ages is just power fantasy deliciousness chefs kiss.
FEMALE ART DIRECTOR!. WOKE GAME! /s
Edit: Tomorrow Comes would make a much better title than Expedition 33.
im still addicted to Space Marine 2 !
Do not let the previews fool you, last year Microsoft put in a requirement for all studios under to prioritize DEI... A big hint is how much they are showing of clips of the Studios and their "diversity" vs the games. South of Midnight is already a known DEI game and I have no doubts the others will be too.
IdTech -Sorry we didn't get that memo. Too busy killing demons.
Is that a bad thing like I’m all for more diversity in gaming if the game itself is good and South of Midnight looks at least intriguing ya know
Edit: also I’m not sure what DEI means
Waaah.
I seriously doubt Doom or Ninja Gaiden will be ‘DEI.’
@@nevermore7285 It was a requirement by microsoft (who owns them), during production. At the very least the studio will be full of DEI which will have a negative impact on the final product. However I think Microsoft had requirements for the "products" to meet a certain standard too. Google it if you do not believe me.
"I want to see nerds, no hipsters and avocado toast." Second game is all hipsters and dei, even sweet baby inc. Leaflit "give it a chance, it might be good guys dont judge" Leaflit is either a grifter or hasnt learned anything in the last few years
Yeah, imagine thinking for yourself and forming your own opinions on a product without a RUclipsr or commenter screaming “WOKE” in your ear.
@1vandread imagine making hours of videos talking about how bad dei and woke ideology is, then for some reason you say something different. It's inconsistent and dishonest. I knew one of her simps would come out to defend milady.
SBI is 1 of the indicators, not a guarantee. we'll find out whether the whole game sucks soon enough. How they communicate with the customer is also another indication. Woke is like a slider, the more indicators are checked, the more terminal the problem is gonna be. his stance is wait and see, skeptical but not too quick to make final judgement.
@@stefanyuwono1909 Leaflit talking out both sides of her mouth. Hell, I'd do it too. Laugh all the way to the bank stirring up both sides with methodically diffrent content with a small internet group who defend everything I say.
My replies are getting deleted. Free speech defender leaflit
NG4 is just reveangeance reskinned
By this same logic reveangeance is NG reskinned lol
the videos ive seen of Sound of Midnight look like its running at 12 fps
the compulsion games one is woke af and full of libs and it is a sweet baby inc game, donrt be fooled by a fake screenshot of a bunch of asian devs
80% woke shit
10% mid shit
10% actually good shit.
some stupid gamer online: I see this as an absolute win!
