This is from the first two episodes. The scene where it is being cleaned and taken apart is that it was damaged from the combining sequence. The program for combining was still not perfected, so it would damage itself. At time 3:52 the attack GaoGaiGAr used was Hell and Heaven, It combines the right arms destructive powers(like the rocket punch called the Broken Magnum) and the defensive power in its left arm (like when it uses Protect Shade) to create a tornado of energy that holds down the opponent while Gaogaigar charges in to rip the enemy core out. At time 4:48 you can see Gaogaigar using the Dividing Driver, a tool meant to warp space so that a massive battle field can be created in the middle of the city to limit the damage from the fighting. Due to the way the Dividing Driver warps space none of the building, items, or people get hurt from the usage of the Dividing Driver. At time 8:55 you said does the hand control the hammer, it does. The Goldion Hammer is a hammer that uses gravity wave technology to convert matter into light. Goldy Marg is the robot who makes up the Goldion Hammer and the Marg Hand. He was created specifically so that Gaogaigar could use the Goldion Hammer without damging himself, that is the reason why the Dimension Pilers at 8:07 were so beat up, they were not designed to be used like that, they were meant to work on space rifts and such other Demensional incidents.
One of the things about Gaogaigar is that they're kinda working the kinks out of it as the show goes along as they only first tested it out at the very beginning of the show (which is why even though it assembles on it's own they needed to take it apart at the base, it didn't disengage after it's first use like they thought it was going to). That's also why they keep trying new ways to use the Goldion Hammer safely, it turned out to be far more stressful on GGG than they expected, until eventually they created Goldymarg to turn into a big hand for it which solved the problem, at which point GGG finally has a reliable way to take out the Zonder's. It's also the final installment of the Brave series which had been running since 1990, (GGG was in 97) which was basically created by TakaraTomy as a way to sell Transformers toys in Japan after the franchise didn't have any tv installments for a while. Once Beast Wars came out and Transformers became popular again, there wasn't much of a use for the Braves anymore.
There’s conflicting reports regarding Bandai buying out sunrise essentially meaning any new Brave Series show made by them would be basically Bandai making Shows for Takara which is why it ended. Though Transformers didn’t exactly beat the Brave series in terms of popularity outright. In Korea they absolutely loved it that they changed a transformers show (Car Robots) into another Brave series installment. Many Japanese made transformers series would also take after the Brave series as well. Heck the series makes semi regular appearances in Super Robot Wars, one of japan’s most long running and well renowned crossover series
AT time 9:21 one of you asked "What the cores are for?" The cores are humans that have been given Zonder Metal, a metal that attaches to the host and feeds of the negative emotions of the host. The host then becomes a Zonder Robot, and the design and shape are based on the emotions, thoughts, and the random items nearby at its creation. So if there is bunch of motorcycles the Zonder Robot will be a motor cycle themed robot. The organization GGG (Gutsy Geoid Guard) who support Gaogaigar have a young boy who can for some reason purify the hosts of their Zonder Metal. This has the benefit of removing the negative emotions that were fueling the Zonder Robot. Someone who is bitter about losing his ship and forced to retire, after he was purified no longer was bitter about the loss and was enjoying his retirement life.
A little more information, Goldy Marg is unique in comparison to the other Super AI robots that support Gaogaigar. The organization that supports GaoGaigar would normally train the super AI from scratch to let it learn and develop on its own, but due to the constant fighting they had to get something out for the Goldion Hammer so that it would not damage Gaogaigar. They copied one of the top brass members of the organization, Geki Hyuuma who is a hot blooded individual who yells a lot and tends to break whatever communication device he holds out of frustration by crushing it in a single hand. Goldy Marg does not yell as much as Hyuuma, but does get as hot headed like as Hyuuma. Sometimes people think he has gone crazy like one time he started to punch the wall of the space station when the enemy was about to destroy him and the others near him. He broke through the wall to suck the enemy out into the void of space and then had his allies close up the hole he made.
Love you guys! I’d be thrilled to see you react to "Suzaku’s Lancelot vs. Kallen’s Guren" from Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion". Code Geass is another incredible mecha anime, and it features some of the fastest-paced and most dynamic mech battles I’ve ever seen.
Thanks for the watch! There are definitely things that can stand up to the Goldion Hammer and they're treated with the respect or even terror they deserve
Usual foes that stand up to it are usually those who absorbed the Goldion Motor which was meant to counter the hammer in case enemies gained access to the tech where it would neutralize the gravity waves. However there are instances of heavy resistance and one of outright defeating it without the need of the motor. Extra Intelligence 01 AKA EI-01 had power able to resist and likely surpassed the hammer but Gaogaigar’s allies were able to neutralize enough of its power to give gaogaigar the edge and completely annihilate it… well, most of it. There was also the clash against the J Quath whose generating armor could for a time resist the power of the Goldion Hammer though in the end it was destroyed. The perfected Hell and Heaven however was the one true counter without the need of special equipment
Oh man great choice. Gaogaigar is the last in the brave series a series of super robot shows know for being over the top but still have a kind of stories that where mature but still able to be understood by kids. Wich out of all the main characters in the brave series Gai and his mech Gaogaigar are considered the strongest out of them all thair a reason this show got 2 different sequels to both continued and finishes is story including one of thought sequel to be a crossover with the anime Betterman and getting put into a lot of super robot wars games. With all that is no wonder why the brave franchise and the show fans refer to Gaogaigar as the King of all Braves and in its true final form is considered to be one of the strongest super robots around along side the likes of the Getter Emperor, Mazinger Zero and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
