Hey guys, this my most popular video. Welcome to my channel for those of you who are new here. I was sick this day, so room was a mess and a beater was worn. For those of you that like this video I have a whole playlist of GameStop videos. If you choose to subscribe welcome to the community!
Source: I work for GME (Stock ticker for GameStop) Corporate. So a couple of items: 1.) The conversion of new games to used games is a strategy corporate uses to drive sales for a slow moving inventory item. Pre-Owned items offer more benefits to Power Up Reward members. So converting new items to used items actually benefits the customer. This normally happens as part of an end of life cycle for a SKU. GME has the permission of the publisher to preform a New-to-Used conversion. You're uninformed about the communication and the close relationship GME has with its vendors. GME does not have their own disk manufacturing facility, and producing copies of copywritten items is PIRACY. GME DOES NOT PIRATE GAMES. That is a dumb thing to even allude. 2.) GME will expand their retail workforce by as much as 40% during the holiday session, while more than 50% of the year's sales will come in the last quarter of the year. Its a busy time, and that means more opportunities for employees to make a mistake, and more customers get upset, but that's the nature of holiday retail. 3.) PREORDERS... Preorders are the primary factor publishers use when allocating inventory to retailers. Meaning when Bethesda sends 200million copies of games to retailers GME only gets the number to match their pre-orders plus a little extra. Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy all have to get their inventory as well. Support the publisher, support the developer, and just pre-order the damn game. Overall this was an interesting example of how people get upset with the things they don't understand. Don't get me wrong, GME does A LOT OF THINGS WRONG, but unfortunately none of them are the items you described in your video.
+Dugger Faulkner except the specific items I talk about in other videos is not a slow moving item. When you leave the company your eyes will open to it buddy
+Lee Darklighter you know that almost every GameStop employee eventually hates there job and leaves the company. I'm only a small drop of the horror stories that company has.
Tell them that if they feel so bad about you not donating your trade in money to charity that they could always donate part of their wage instead, but at the same time, offer to donate your middle finger to the manager... I'm all for donating to charity, but that was pretty rude of them... for all they know, you could of made a donation a few days ago, but won't of known about it.
online cases/online ownership will eventually be a thing it's not big now bc there hasn't been dedicated online distributors for that long really but eventually people will recognize the capital/opportunity of online exclusive collector's editions also as society pushes more towards 'green' policies, manuals/paper products and the like will become less common
I dont see them going completely out of business anytime soon but i feel gamestop needs some type of competition. there arent many pure game store where you can trade in games. at least not where i live.
My husband pre-ordered an Assassin's Creed game, a while ago, and it was supposed to come with a replica of Ezio's wrist blade and gauntlet. My husband was SO excited about getting that thing, and it was the ONLY reason we pre-ordered. On the game's release day, we showed up to pick up the items, and the manager told us they were all gone. He told us that we should have come earlier in the day. I lost my mind and started yelling. We had paid for the items, and now we were told we couldn't have them, because we weren't waiting in line when the store opened?! After about 15 minutes of arguing, the manager said they DID have one in the back, but they were holding onto it. He told us that they were holding it because they had promised it to a disabled veteran. This was the weirdest guilt trip ever, and made me even angrier. MY HUSBAND IS ALSO A DISABLED VET. I made them give us the item, and they all did thier best to make us feel weird and guilty about it... wtf. We will never go back. That was the worst experience I have had with a retail outlet in a very long time. EDIT: adding this to avoid repeating the same response over and over.. The disabled vet they were describing was NOT my husband. There is absolutely NO chance it was being held for my husband. The manager was holding it for a "friend" that had "just returned home". My husband served in the Gulf War and has been out of the military for a long time. My husband had NOT told them that he was a disabled vet, and they had no way of knowing that he was. They were shocked when I told him he was. The "vet" they were holding it for had NOT pre-ordered, because he supposedly overseas. My husband DID pre-order. They were describing a completely different person. Even if they were psychic and magically knew my husband was a disabled vet without us telling them, wouldn't they have gotten it when they pulled up our account and saw our names? I do not know if this "disabled vet" existed, but the way they treated us with guilt and shame was unforgivable.
Not entirely true. at least the pawn shop I go to, they look up what the value is online and adjust it depending on box/booklet etc. and since I have a pretty good customer/merchant relationship with one of the guys who works there, I get a slightly better deal than some dude who probably doesn't frequent the store.
CresentMoon18 i hope you meant the gamestop employee doesnt know. trust me. pawn shop owners know exactly what they can get for everything....from there, its how nice they are. gamestop is putting themselves out of business in a time when pawn shops are going up everywhere.
Got hired as a seasonal one year, and never received a schedule even though I've called and went in and just forgot about it and got a much better job that paid more and about 4 months later I received a call from Gamestop asking for my direct deposit information, even though I never worked a shift
Yeah man me too. I have not been to a GS in years. GS is not only a shit hole it also lacks convenience. Why drive to pay maximum price at GS and deal will car sales man tactics when one can pay the same on Steam/Amazon.
Amazon is were I get my stuff also this store is the biggest rip off I didn't like my PSVita so I wanted to sell it it was completely brand new 200$ like the same month it came out they bought it back from me for 50$
Me: Buys a game card. Employee: "Just come back if there's any issues with the code." Me: "Okay, thank you." *Scratch the back code cover off* *Enters in code* System: "Somebody has already used this code." *Had all that recorded in case of these situations* Me: *Comes back* "The card you gave me didn't work. It said someone already used it." *Shows video evidence* Same Employee: "Uh, if you already scratched the back off, you can't get a refund or a new one. Sorry." Me: ". . .Bitch, how can I find an issue without scratching the back off. . .and use it? I never buy game cards from them again.
JARRONJEDI your GameStop is shitty cause I bought an Amazon card from GameStop and it didn't work so I took it back and they got me a brand new one and even offered to give me a refund. So I just think the employee at your GameStop is a bitch.
PlazmaCow they wanted my never taken out of the case Black Ops 3 (duplicate sent by my relative on Christmas) and they wanted it for 2 bucks TWO BUCKS FOR A BRAND NEW $50 DOLLAR GAME
for everybody, DON'T Sell your GAMES at Gamestop. keep them, worth more for you spending a lot money then selling to gamestop. I regret to this day why I sold my gamecube games.
Links595 When I was a game noob, I had a used copy of GTA V for Xbox 360, in perfect condition. I sold it to GameStop, and guess how much I got for it? $4.
From personal experience 1. They actually sell pre owned games that don't work at all 2. They give you little to almost nothing for your trade in games 3. They take forever ringing customers up.
I brought a 1 and a half foot of a receipt worth of games INCLUDING an Xbox 360, I only got 48 dollars. That may sound like a lot, but, if I got them for what they were really worth, I would have gotten at least 80 dollars. And the worst part, when they plugged in the Xbox it red ringed. Then they said they won't give me any money but they will keep it anyways. WTF
Rafael Moran they DON'T take broken systems, I think you're lying cause they would have given it back OR it would have shown on the recipient...I've in Gamestop MANY times
I've been boycotting GameStop for about 2 years now. They are trash. I'd rather just buy straight off of psn or Amazon. Hell, even walmart. Screw you GameStop.
just retro game stores and flea market's, other ebay store's. running a physical store cost a lot. would be nice to run one , one of these days perhaps. been playing around with coding my own sega genesis games.
GameStop wasn't Funcoland. GameStop was Babbages. GameStop was around already when Funcoland was still around and GameStop bought Funcoland. They also bought out GameWorld and eventually their biggest rival Electronics Boutique/EB Games.
I had EB games, then it turned into GameStop... I saw a comment the person said I remember when EB games bought GameStop...? I had EB games stores when I was younger, then it was GameStop.. how did EBgames buy out GameStop, if game stop stores took over EB games...? The Mandela Effect strikes again lolz
I knew they pulled that preorder bullshit when I tried to get a copy of Metroid prime corruption on day of release, didn't preorder it, tried to go in after work to get a copy and they told me I could only get it if I preordered, walked across the street to Bestbuy and there was like 25 copies..moral of the story only preorder if you plan on trading in games towards what you want
So I bought Pokemon Black 2 for my younger cousin because he likes to collect those older Pokemon games for some reason and it was like $38.00. I didn't really question it, but the guy said it was new. He told me he went to start a new game and found that it already had a save file. I was like "damn, I got swindled..."
I stopped shopping at GameStop for the most part in 2012 because I noticed this. I believe the very last thing I bought at a GameStop was a "new" copy of Super Smash Brothers for the 3DS. I say "new" because they had it marked as new, but it wasn't in the seal. I knew GameStop did sole their "display copies" as new at times, so I wanted to make sure it was sealed. I looked over the counter, and saw plastic over the place where you open the case. I assumed that meant it was sealed and bought it. I took it home and went to open it, just to notice that they had opened the game, taken it out of the seal, and then taped the game shut. It made me mad. That day was the day I decided not to buy anything else from GameStop unless I couldn't find it anywhere else. The only thing I use them for now is to look at games I may be interested in, then go to a different store to buy them.
JobeMinacum Why do you ask this? This wasn't the first time I bought a 3DS game, but it was the last time I bought a 3DS game. I know with every other 3DS game I ever bought before that was fully sealed though. I assume GameStop opened that seal and put tape on themselves, because that's the only 3DS game I ever bought that that has happened with. Pokemon and everything else was fully sealed.
Nott Joey I ask because if you'd ever bought a brand new 3ds game you should know they are wrapped in plastic when brand new. If that plastic wrap is broken, I'd say common-sense tells most people someone opened it. Especially if they had bought games before and knew they came sealed.
JobeMinacum Yeah, it was behind the counter and at first glance I saw that the game had plastic over the place in the case where you open it. I bought it without double checking, went home, and went to open it just to discover what GameStop did.
the theory of new pertains to if the disc/cartridge has ever been used. several copies are opened to display and they still sell those copies. however they are still in Mint condition as not used. my gamestop does this to however if you speak up they will give you an unopened if you request it and if they have one.
they tried to sell me an unused game as "used" bc they used it as display. yet, I wldnt get the benefit of a used game by being able to return it in 7 days.
It's a negative bc w a new game, yes u get 30 days but that's ONLY to exchange for the same game (if u remove the plastic). While buying it used, u have 7 days to return & trade it for another game of the same price or get a full refund...unlike buying new.
GameStop where I live is selling a pre-owned Xbox 360 for a round $130 I tried to trade one in they tried to give me $7 for it can you f***ing believe that
Creed Walker I don't understand how you ppl get ripped off by gamestop. I go to the one in Portsmouth cause I live in Ohio and they gave me enough money to buy a Xbox one for trading in a 360 and 4 games
My brother traded in his PS4 to get a slim.. the employee said he was supposed to take $50 off the trade-in bc the grips on the controller were worn and a new controller doesn't even cost $50. Guy was nice though and didn't do it
+Christian Soriano lol neither was I but it rolled off the keyboard easier then Wal-Mart lol who is also a terrible company. I will be doing a video soon on GameStop and their negative impact on the gaming market
I got Alice Madness returns brand new for $10 on Black Friday like 3 or 4 years ago. Still have it new and saw it for like $35 used like 2 months ago at GameStop.
I bought Alice Madness Returns for the '18 Halloween sale for $5. Great game. It was the only time i actually listened to reviews for something, and im glad i did lol
+Kevin The Great , Watch the video, this guy used to work for gamestop and talks about how they would receive boxes full of rare unopened retro games and told to open them, throw away the boxes and put them on sale.
I'm not taking the word of someone who just "worked at game stop" if he wasn't in even the lowest form of management, he has no idea how that business actually operates.
Mine are really great also. All the employees that have helped have been really nice, and everyone is seeming willing to help you with a game. I've always loved GameStop ngl
Yeah, I like my local one. I take guilty pleasure in placing any preorder amount above five bucks. It's such a good feeling knowing you just have to pay the remaining taxes on a preorder and you're off.
I absolutely love buying physical copies. But I'm from Ohio and I have a usual Gamestop. I always go there for my pre orders. I've gone there since I was 7 and the managers begged me to apply. Actually begged me. But The one day I went to a different Gamestop. I purchased Far Cry 4 for like 25? 30? Used. And as I walked out of the store and went home. I realized I paid 10 more. I had a $10 deposit on Until Dawn. (I don't even own a PS4, I'm a filthy Xbox player) I went to my usual Gamestop. And they gave me compensation. I didn't even want compensation I just wanted to see if it would be worth going back. Moral is not all Gamestop's are shit
BiscuitFever Preordering helps a lot of people, so it's not going away. The problem is dangling preorder dlc at us as if promising a worthwhile/working game and future support when that's far from what we get time to time. Not to say you aren't aware of any the issues.
i was hired at gamestop 2 years ago for the season. they called me in twice and didn't hear from them for weeks and got a new job. Manager calls me a month after having a new job asking me to come in. he was pissed.
About the whole pre-order thing, I actually missed school the day Modern Warfare 3 was released so I can play the game and all 3 of my local Gamestop's had run out. But I went to Target and they dozens of copies for sale. So yeah guys, plenty of other stores out there incase you don't pre order
yeah but try finding a game several years later anywhere other than gamestop. you could pay full price to buy digital or go to gamestop and find mw3 for $13 (price at my gamestop) or go to Wal-Mart, best buy or any other retailer and realize it no longer exists there.
To be honest you practically don't have to use money to buy a game from gamestop. Tie your points in with a trade in or two(depending on the game) and you're practically done.
Gamestop tried to rip me off more times than I can count. They tried to tell me my warranty was void because of a sticker I had removed that said "red rings will occur if a/v cabels aren't plugged in properly". They tried to say the sticker said "warranty void if removed". They then told me they didn't _have_ the original xbox 360 and tried to force me to pay extra for a slim instead of honoring my warranty. They did have the original. Another time they told me my coupon wasn't valid because they "didn't have used 3ds". One time when I ordered a game (can't remember which one) they sent me a significantly cheaper game which wasn't the one I had payed for. Then when I brought it back, they said the game wasn't on the reciept so they "couldn't refund me". I fucking hate Gamestop and I think they should be run out of buisiness.
See, I usually go to my local GameStop but that's because those PS2 classics are too good to just pass up. But for PS4 games I just buy Playstation Store Gift Cards and buy it from the playstation store, it's easier because it's a downloadable copy and it's just hassle free. But I preordered Infinite Warfare and I deposited $55 at first, paid for taxes and everything. I asked the clerk if those were the final taxes I ever paid, even if I did finish off the preorder. She said yes. I came back a month later, and she charged me around $15 of taxes for a remaining $25 of a deposit. I cancelled, she got mad, and I got an extra $20 because I guess she was frustrated and counted wrong. Oops.
Ariel Chavarry the problem with ps store is if for any reason your account gets banned you're kinda fucked. To be fair you shouldn't be doing anything that gets you banned but it happens- I had about $500 of díc and games on my account and it got lost over the summer
I remember the first week I worked there, we had our midnight for Black Ops 3 and we had our District Manager coming into town lol. I was nervous as hell because all my employees were telling me to remember the 5-to-drive that I needed to tell him when he asked me everything. My first Black Friday was a damn disaster as well! lmfao I ended up putting 2 years into GameStop and quit this past February due to my boss and I butting heads. lol great video bro, glad I'm not the only one that had to endure the wrath of GameStop
+xxInGodsReachxx I feel it buddy, I don't have many friends who still work there. Most have gotten out while they could. Not sure why the ones who stayed have.
This is accurate people need to avoid working there pay sucks, hours suck, lying to the customer sucks, Circle is trash, marketing sucks, changing prices to the same item sucks and the list goes on.
I went to gamestop and bought the new final fantasy game and went home and decided I didn't want it; was still in it's factory sealed package.. when I went into the store and said I want to return it with the receipt they said it was against there return policy, I said well it's still in the factory sealed package and he said, well it shouldn't have been "we always open it up first before we will sell it"... then the guy said "I'm going to have to open this up for you" and proceeds to actually try and take the game from me to open up the factory sealed game, I said "don't you dare touch my property or open it, I don't give you permission to" he said "it's okay this is what we do with all our games" I said "if you open up my property that I payed for which you won't return with the receipt then I'm calling the cops, it isn't your property this is mine, you have no right to touch it or open it, if you dare put one more finger on my game I will call the cops" .. that's when he realized he was an idiot and said "okay keep it how it is" ... I did just that and returned it at a Walmart for the game I actually wanted WITHOUT A Receipt... seriously fuck GameStop... I was so pissed off they tired to pull that on me, Walmart was so cool about just taking the game that was factory sealed and letting me exchange it for the game I wanted which was the same price(of course I told Walmart I bought the game there).. they didn't even need a receipt to do something GameStop wouldn't do with one... Fucking sad... someone should make a class action lawsuit against these fuckers
I worked at a Gamestop for 2 years and it happened to me before. Sometimes it is hectic in the store or you have a lot of task to complete. It happens... if it's often then maybe you should get a new job lol.
Not always the employees fault. At my store we had open boxes on the shelf for new games, but would have sealed copies behind the counter. The idea from the store point of view was if you had a seal copied that is the one you sell so you don't have to keep gutting new copies to make displays. However on more then one occasion over my 4 years with the company did I have customers that either picked back up the open box rather then the sealed box I took off the shelf and either leave the store completely or I had to run out and stop them from taking the wrong box. But it for sure can also be due to employee error as well.
Not as bad as a lot of companies out there. A lot of companies have some real trickery, whereas Gamestop seems to have these little traps in place, as long as the consumer is willing to step on them. As in, in the end, it's up to you whether or not you wanna step on the bear trap.
Christopher Raspante That's why you always check first especially if it's pre owned I always look for really bad scratches, they were more than happy to switch my CD
I know many people have had horrible experiences with GameStop but I've never really had a bad experience. The GameStop i go to has really nice employees too
I'll never do a preorder launch event again after Halo 3. I stood in line waiting for an hour and a half at my local Gamestop and watched people walk into the Walmart next door and come out 5 minutes later with the same thing. And I'm pretty sure I was one of the people that got screwed by the not pre ordering thing like you said. "well did you pre order?...you didn't?...hmmm let me see if I have any copies left...nope I sure don't..." and I'm like "dude I see the stack of games behind you?"
+Everyday Black Gamer King yeah, they just don't want to have live games on the floor. It's OK if your in a store that doesn't let employees check out new games. But some stores do.
and the only reason I say that is because let's say you buy world of final fantasy from gamestop and I buy it from Walmart, the Walmart copy will be covered in plastic while the gamestop one most likely will have no plastic on it 😒😒😒
Sucking Dick Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Yeah But I Have Been Buying For Years Yo,You Go Get A New Game For Example Say They Have One ☝️ Copy Left,I Guarantee It Will Have A New Sticker On It And It Will Be Used ...
Back Pocket Game Reviews To be slightly fair, it was the morning after midnight release. While I can see them purposely having less copies than they need, it confuses me. All that means for them is that they missed a sale.
+Rookie Yeah I get it. But you didn't preorder, you were being taught your lesson. Sometimes I would get a shipment it 48 hours after release bigger then my first shipment.
Back Pocket Game Reviews Definitely learned my lesson. That taught me to buy from Steam. It's a shame Corporate aren't a bunch of gaming insiders. The company could be so much better.
how to shop at GameStop if that's your only choice 1. don't pre order stuff. 2 . Always see if they have used version of the games you want 3. Don't get a powerful rewards card 4. Don't be stupid enough to sell consoles or games to them 5. never get the disc replacement plan Trust you're better off at best buy, amazon or steam to get your games
My bro got destiny for Xbox 360 for 30 dollars, months later, he sold it to game stop, and got like 2 dollars from it. I looked over, and saw them selling destiny used for 20 bucks. I told him and it pissed him off.
Jake Deschamps how do you think companies make money? Would it make any sense for them to buy it for $20 and sell it for $20? That's like a pawn shop buying a computer for $300 and then turning around and selling it for that. There's no room for profit.
Solerdude well for starters, this has nothing to do with hats. I'm 100% certain if you were a business owner, you would understand. People don't go out and buy supplies and knit a hat and sell it exactly for what it cost, now do they? Since we're using hat theories. No one said you had to sell to GameStop. Clearly they're not hurting for money too bad as people still take their items in there. This isn't a "buy it for $20 and play it and bring it back and we'll buy it for $20" kind of deal. There's no way to make profit in a situation like that. Everyone acts like that's what they should be doing. You do realize that it cost 255 million dollars to make Grand Theft Auto 5. They've sold over 60 million copies. Meaning they've made 3,600,000,000. Hm. By your standards that's robbery. If it only took them 255million to make it and they sold 60mil copies that means it should have only cost $4.25 per copy so that there was no room for profit.
as a canadian who only has gamestop in their city i totally wish i could stop shopping there, but where else would i get good games? walmart only has the best sellers so its hard to find good games unless i go to game stop, i cant shop online either so im literally stuck having to go to gamestop i want to kms
Ruruka Andou I don't know much about what kinds of stores you'd have in Canada, but what about pawn shops or third party game stores? usually there are at least a couple in any decent size town around here. otherwise why can you not buy games from somewhere like amazon? If the issue is not having an appropriate way to pay for it, then you could consider purchasing a prepaid debit card from visa or mastercard. you can buy a refillable debit card to buy from amazon that way without the need to get a credit line or open a bank or paypal account.
Ruruka Andou I know it sucks im a Canadian and we can go to be games or GameStop which is the same company or if u are lucky find a Best Buy with good games
+enough fps games aa i like my games in good condition so honestly game stop is the best place i got for a good game, i dont mind used games from pawn stores but they usually never have the cases, but i dont have a mailing address for shipping packages, as i dont live in the city, i can only get letters. but pawn stores really are a good place if the games are good!
Back when MW3 was popular, I tried to pre-order on the Wii. However the employee kept saying that the Wii version was not coming. Took one well of a fight to get the Wii version.
I bought Marvels Spider-Man for €45.00 (Irish currency-its $53.16) from Gamestop and the minute i put it in my ps4 it started making terrible loud noises and wouldnt download for 4 weeks. When it finally downloaded, it reset and shot the disc out and my ps4 broke and shut down. I had to buy a new ps4 and when i brought the game back they told me they couldnt do anything.
Aaron Maness Thats why I only buy pre owned games from Best Buy. They test the game to make sure that they work. Their also pretty cheap. I got black flag for $15 bucks and works like new. I got Skyrim for $10 bucks works like new. So always go best buy
I'm not defending them anymore= or buying either! My most previous mistake was the PS3,7 airplane games and a barely working i sided headset. Doesn't matter, Ace Combat Infinity shut down on 3-31 anyway! :D
Unless its on steam, I HATE digital purchases... Cause that means, if your console dies, you lose all of those games. Ive had it happen to me... At least with steam its saved on the cloud so i can access my games from any computer with the same files
My dad expected me to swim, and look at me now! I go to therapy twice a week and I have a phobia of public pools. That would be somewhat sad if it were true, I actually just swam to the shallow end.
Astartes Master Remiel technically basing this on experiences with the U.K. based equivalent of GameStop or Amazon but a lot of major new games are £40-45 in the best stores or websites. Just checked the basic digital preorder package for Battlefield 1 (ok thought it was already out but many recently released games said the same price) £54.99, and digital launch games might have dropped considerably in price but could still get a unused on disc copy for £15 less on Amazon UK
+Elite Destroyer I agree just I see where I could improve, just with a full-time job wife and 2 kids gets a little complex. But all in good time. I have only been at it for like 7 months. And thank you I appreciate hearing that
I turned in all my games when I was a kid and they only gave me 1 to 3$ each and the next time I went there thay were selling most of them for 20 to 40$
Learned my lesson on pre order when I went to pick up Halo2. There was a pre order line and the non pre order line at the time of release. There were non pre order people buying their copies 10 minutes after they opened the doors.
Before I buy a game I check the sites of other stores that have physical locations to see if they're overcharging or not. It's just common sense. All those things he mentioned can be overcome with common sense.
Ah this brings back memories of when I worked there back in 2003 and 2004. I made the cut and survived seasonal, sga (3rd key!), and moved up to asm. It was "great" giving someone .01 for their game boy when they traded it and all their games in to upgrade to something new. They often didn't even notice how little we gave for the system itself. And then we sold it for $9.99!
etcher1981 well not really I buy used games and always return them back before 7 days for full refund build lots of points and always get my money back
I buy digital now or just buy directly from the developer's website if I can avoid it. I bought a PS Eye new for 45 from Gamestop and they were trying to sell a used one with no packaging for 40.
how is it less? downloads are the same or more than discs. plus you have to buy the hard drive. check your information before making stupid comments online.
Ian Berkshire No they're not you don't pay tax on a digital download. It's 59.99 flat. In store its 59.99 base with tax that bumps it up to like 64. Meaning say you buy 10 games in a year you're saving yourself almost 50 bucks.
yes you do pay tax. and look at some little older games. nba 2k14 xbox one $30 digital, $5 disc. thats just one example. and who buys 10 $60 games a year? thats stupid.
Ian Berkshire In the PSN store you do not pax tax maybe in the Steam Store or Xbox Store. And that 2k14 comparison while somewhat valid is something you already know when buying digital, you can't buy a used game digital obviously lol and some games are sold for much more in the PSN Store than a Gamestop(GTA5 is still full price I think). But overall unless you get some cool physical items or are buying used there's no incentive these days to buy physical except out of tradition. On top of that guitar stores have real discounts on certain games not oh trade in this and it'll towards this or double reward points. I got the Witcher 3 and AC Syndicate for 55 fairly close to Syndicate's release because there was a holiday Flash Sale. The prices jumped back up to normal after that. GameStop isn't doing that.
nba 2k15 xbox one $11.99 NEW disc, $29.99 digital.digital is not lower. its just the truth. if you prefer it, thats fine .i buy that way sometimes. but unless its on sale, that is not the lowest price way to do it.
Mohammed Alhendi Never sell your games at gamestop. Do it on eBay or sell it to a known person. But I just trade games with family members and people at my school
Mohammed Alhendi I sold me 3ds black normal for 100$ with20% off since I wanted cash there's no way u sold ur 3ds to game stop for 20 unless u stupid af
I've stopped going there 2 years ago. Everything about it is awful. - No, we don't need "Warranty for the game". Useless. I've wasted so much money on that scam. Do people get a screwdriver and scratch disks? - Prices are god awful. Just use/go to Amazon, BestBuy ect.. People there are cool though...I guess.
Before it was "GameStop" it was known by a company called Funcoland. I used to manage 3 stores. The company was started in the owners basement. He sold 424 stores back in the early 2000's. Babbage's was also bought and turned into what all you new people know as GameStop.
+Notellu you said it was a company known as. GameStop was never known as Funcoland they just bought them out. No need to get so aggressive. I read it correctly you should have worded it differently
Back Pocket Game Reviews you knew what I meant. Don't be one of those people. There's enough of them going around being extra technical about simple shit. Seems like you need a friend or 2.
I traded in a bricked 360 to Gamestop years ago and don't feel remotely guilty about it. I get a smile whenever I think about how I fucked Gamestop out of a few hundred dollars. I even took out the harddrive too (I wanted to keep my ME2 saves since it died between ME2 and 3)
So I preordered nba2k17 legend Edition 3 MONTHS EARLY YEP 3 MONTHS I came in 3 days after the game comes out and they don't have it 3 days later they have it but with no code in the box. Bs
Uh...pretty much everyone? Some people want to be able to sell back games that they dislike or no longer play. Plus, some games get limited releases or come with bonuses like artbooks, soundtracks CDs, etc. and become valuable collector's items later on. I've sold SNES games for double the price that I bought them.
People complain about GameStop ripping them off. 1. All they need to do is just put it on eBay or something to get a good price, 2. How else is GameStop supposed to make money? If you don't like it just simply don't trade in your games there
Randommike100 after watching this video I think you may be right. every complaint he has, and for that most people on here has fall into either not knowing how retail works OR potential lies. I have quite a few years of retail experience and can answer every note he made in this video. ultimately if u don't like game stop realize the obvious, brick stores in genneral are dying and the online world is cheaper.
TRUTH ABOUT GAMESTOP. theyre a monopoly and are extremely corrupt and punish their workers for not getting braindead customers to spend their money in their store on games that WERE new but purposely were opened to make USED because gamestop PROFITS off used games by ten times.
Back Pocket Game Reviews their games are too expensive. I go to gamestop because I can find cheap games, I recently got a bunch of games for under 5 bucks
Back Pocket Game Reviews that sounds cool but they never have as much games in stock as GameStop. I bought like 8 used games at GameStop for 35 bucks, that would be enough for like 2 or 3 games at best buy. And about the pre ordering thing, whenever GameStop employees ask me to pre order something I decline, I hardly ever pre order. But I did pre order infinite warfare because I really want that game.
The only thing GameStop does that annoys me is sometimes when I'm buying a used game they will try to give me the generic GameStop case even if they have the actual case
I knew a guy who had a small videogame business and he was around before Game Stop and he could have ended up having his own business chain instead or so I heard
as a previous GameStop employee myself I really appreciate the fact that you put this video out and have clarified somewhat that it's not the employees fault it is the corporations
Oh my god! I am so glad you mentioned the issue with Xenoblade Chronicles! Its easily my favorite game, and granted, while I do think it is a good enough and enormous enough game that spending $65 on it isn't too bad, I don't agree with selling an used copy for more than the new copy! And that BS about it being so rare in the U.S. that it was a GameStop exclusive was ludicrous! Thankfully, the issue isn't as severe nowadays thanks to the New 3DS version and the Wii U virtual console version, but still...buying it before then was a nightmare!
Back Pocket Game Reviews Oh I know you're not lying, I still had to pay $65 to get the Wii version even though I bought it just last year, AFTER the 3DS version was released, because I didn't have a New 3DS or a Wii U; which I still don't. Plus, I've heard the story about troubles buying it from the Xenoblade master himself, Chuggaaconroy.
Back Pocket Game Reviews Yeah, I've heard great things about the Metroid Prime Trilogy, I'll have to purchase it at some point in the future, though that'll be easier said than done, due to the fact that I'd be more likely now to buy the Nintendo Switch than the Wii U, hopefully they make an HD remastering on the Switch. Same goes for Xenoblade, I'd love to see Bionis and Mechonis in 720P HD graphics with a revamped engine on the Switch!
It's a little distracting when with every fact there is a *pause* then "Yeah" which is followed up with the the ever-annoying popping of the mouth, as if you're delivering the juiciest burn of the century. Sounds pretentious & you can literally hear the slurp of saliva, which confusingly, is also amplified in this segment to the degree of wondering if was purposely done. No surprises in the video. Pretty much just info that we're already aware of. So before you have "plenty more" of these videos, why not drink a little water & realize that the info you're delivering isn't Earth shattering nor calling for sounding like a valley girl as a basis for the overall delivery of info that I toned out without even realizing. I hate Gamestop's business practices as much as the next gamer but try to shoot for sounding a bit less like Jimmy Fallon in his "Ew" sketch he does with his guests. There is a reason why people laugh at this & consider it humor. Just an opinion really but if you want to get those "Likes" that you admittedly "like so much" maybe you should try inflection, rather than having so much pride in what you're saying that it feels like you're bragging to a middle school girl about how many rare Beanie Babies you have tucked away in your top secret treehouse you built yourself out of milk crates & a few tarps your mom bought you at Home Depot that, may or may not be, bullet proof material used by Navy Seals but you can't elaborate on because it's classified & you swore on pain of death to protect because you are a super spy that has access to such things. Allegedly. I feel like I just watched 7:32 of what a customer would jabber at me immediately after walking out of the store, which would cause me to say "Whoa man, would you look at the time already? I gotta be somewhere that I'm not within earshot of anything you're saying & I'd probably not shop at Gamestop in the first place due to how they methodically rip-off customers in any way they can. Also, please spit or something. It's off-putting to hear saliva be so loud. It's liquid. Just swallow it." Of course, that's what she said. ;-)
I bought the metroid prime trilogy preowned from gamestop during the wii era for 45$.
I'm going to go to COD in september 26 and I'm going to have a basic computer class there.
+Lee Darklighter you know that almost every GameStop employee eventually hates there job and leaves the company. I'm only a small drop of the horror stories that company has.
*sells soul to gamestop
"That will be $6.45 in-store credit"
Gucci Flippies "what about cash"
"here's a nickel"
This IS the comment i am looking for.
Gucci Flippies 3 dollars cash

Lol. Comment of the year 😂
Gucci Flippies lol
I had a manager try to embarrass me because I wouldn't give my "trade in" money to the charity they had going at that time. Very unprofessional.
Comic Dork that's fucked😂 he probably would have just pocketed it
Tell them that if they feel so bad about you not donating your trade in money to charity that they could always donate part of their wage instead, but at the same time, offer to donate your middle finger to the manager...
I'm all for donating to charity, but that was pretty rude of them... for all they know, you could of made a donation a few days ago, but won't of known about it.
Leviathan TS ikr managers be ruthless af
Comic Dork you should of reported them, not only was it unprofessional, but against company protocol and client ethics!
What did they do to try and embarrass you?
gamestop will eventually die once there is a way to sell and refund game easily online.
good luck trying to sell your downloadable game. itll just sit in your account forever
online cases/online ownership will eventually be a thing
it's not big now bc there hasn't been dedicated online distributors for that long really
but eventually people will recognize the capital/opportunity of online exclusive collector's editions
also as society pushes more towards 'green' policies, manuals/paper products and the like will become less common
yeah true as long as they keep their physical used copies going i think they will last
I dont see them going completely out of business anytime soon but i feel gamestop needs some type of competition. there arent many pure game store where you can trade in games. at least not where i live.
well the only reason i can see as to why i would get a physical copy is just in case i want to get a refund or sell it
Me: I just bought this limited edition PS4 and 5 new games what can I get for it?
GameStop: we can give you 2.00$ store credit

+Dory's Stories yeah they shouldn't sell what was already preordered. It was probably a lie, one of the employees probably wanted it.
I think that is the case. My husband was convinced the manager was going to keep it for himself.
+Dory's Stories wouldn't doubt it
Thanks for talking about this stuff. There is quite a lot of shady stuff I have heard about this company!
+Dory's Stories tour welcome! Thanks for watching
Apparently, they sell returned games as new games.
yes, he said that.........
All I heard him say was the opposite (sell new games as used)
Lapie Lazoolie Wtf, thats fucking good for us then
No they don't.
Lapie Lazoolie yes dude it happened to me a few times at least. I opened it with a huge fucking scratch on it
to hell with game stop. a pawn shop is way less shady ffs.
75rmc75 because half the time they have no idea what they are buying or selling
Not entirely true. at least the pawn shop I go to, they look up what the value is online and adjust it depending on box/booklet etc. and since I have a pretty good customer/merchant relationship with one of the guys who works there, I get a slightly better deal than some dude who probably doesn't frequent the store.
CresentMoon18 i hope you meant the gamestop employee doesnt know. trust me. pawn shop owners know exactly what they can get for everything....from there, its how nice they are. gamestop is putting themselves out of business in a time when pawn shops are going up everywhere.
75rmc75 Well thats not untrue...
word bro
GameStop logic. buy it for 80$ give it back for 4$
Got hired as a seasonal one year, and never received a schedule even though I've called and went in and just forgot about it and got a much better job that paid more and about 4 months later I received a call from Gamestop asking for my direct deposit information, even though I never worked a shift

+Bigfriendly15 they are investing in other ventures to stay relevant. They bought think geek. So now they sell a bunch of collectibles.
I went to gamestop to sell a cure to all diseases and problems and they gave me $7.28
+ErnestGaming trade value sucks there.
RUclips comment gold.
InFuriousGamer, I'd have only give you tree fiddy bitch

Boycotted Gamestop some time ago. I've only bought games through Amazon or Steam since. Gamestop can shove it.
TheSilkyConch Agreed!!
TheSilkyConch wi be doing the same here and so will sony and ms once they dump optical drives.
Yeah man me too. I have not been to a GS in years. GS is not only a shit hole it also lacks convenience. Why drive to pay maximum price at GS and deal will car sales man tactics when one can pay the same on Steam/Amazon.
Amazon is were I get my stuff also this store is the biggest rip off I didn't like my PSVita so I wanted to sell it it was completely brand new 200$ like the same month it came out they bought it back from me for 50$
TheSilkyConch G2A is where it's at
Me: Buys a game card.
Employee: "Just come back if there's any issues with the code."
Me: "Okay, thank you."
*Scratch the back code cover off*
*Enters in code*
System: "Somebody has already used this code."
*Had all that recorded in case of these situations*
Me: *Comes back* "The card you gave me didn't work. It said someone already used it." *Shows video evidence*
Same Employee: "Uh, if you already scratched the back off, you can't get a refund or a new one. Sorry."
Me: ". . .Bitch, how can I find an issue without scratching the back off. . .and use it?
I never buy game cards from them again.
JARRONJEDI your GameStop is shitty cause I bought an Amazon card from GameStop and it didn't work so I took it back and they got me a brand new one and even offered to give me a refund. So I just think the employee at your GameStop is a bitch.
Wow that's fucked up
If you had it all recorded I think you can sue not sure though
I bought a ROBLOX game card from them they supposedly activated it I used it I'd did not work they wouldn't give me a refund...Such dicks
I got an eshop card from them. It works well
They attempted to buy my xbox360 for $7. I said fuck that and sold it for $50 on ebay. SEVEN DOLLARS FOR A GAMING CONSOLE? GTFO OF HERE!
Sold my Wii Fit board for $40 there...
PlazmaCow they wanted my never taken out of the case Black Ops 3 (duplicate sent by my relative on Christmas) and they wanted it for 2 bucks TWO BUCKS FOR A BRAND NEW $50 DOLLAR GAME
so I assume that if I go trade in my never opened NHL 17 then I'll either not get another game or get 2$ for it...
PlazmaCow righ GameStop is a rip off
that guuuuuuuy
NHL 17 will get you 20 cash or 25 store credit
its no secret you pay 60 bucks for a game and return it and they offer you 5 dollars. fk game stop. GAMEFLY!!!!
DC79ism I remember halo wars was $60 and I played it for a week and I returned it for money and got $5-10.....
+FMX X you have 1 month to return a game with full refund. all you need is the receipt. its your fault.
DC79ism also not true they give $30 for new releases
MasterTryh4rd not true as in ANY retail store once you open it is yours unless it doesn't work
such a difference. . thats a joke
for everybody, DON'T Sell your GAMES at Gamestop. keep them, worth more for you spending a lot money then selling to gamestop. I regret to this day why I sold my gamecube games.
Links595 When I was a game noob, I had a used copy of GTA V for Xbox 360, in perfect condition. I sold it to GameStop, and guess how much I got for it? $4.
Not GradeA UnderA yeah try and find a used video game shop if there is one, don't give GameStop your business
sold 7 gambeboy games for 20 dollars back when gameboy was poppin so they were woth more
Agree! Im done with the CONSOLE MONEY PIT, and the hell with buying digital if its not music.
Yes! And maybe try selling on Amazon or eBay used. Get more money back from there than Gamestop would ever give you.
From personal experience
1. They actually sell pre owned games that don't work at all
2. They give you little to almost nothing for your trade in games
3. They take forever ringing customers up.
DarKKnightt07 yeah I have the black ops 3 1 tb custom ps4 and they only gave me 120 of instore when I bought it for 300
The bo3 ps4 was the first model of the ps4 so it has the older hardware so that sounds about right for a value. Sadly
Gamestop be like:
*Brings in a box of games that you wanna trade in for cash*
Employee: Hmm.... all this comes to 20.87
Customer: ......
They're not obligated to buy your used shit. Take it or leave it.
Garrett Williams no shit sherlock
Gio Dude 60 bucks new...1 month old...How's 3.50$ WTF
I brought a 1 and a half foot of a receipt worth of games INCLUDING an Xbox 360, I only got 48 dollars. That may sound like a lot, but, if I got them for what they were really worth, I would have gotten at least 80 dollars. And the worst part, when they plugged in the Xbox it red ringed. Then they said they won't give me any money but they will keep it anyways. WTF
Rafael Moran they DON'T take broken systems, I think you're lying cause they would have given it back OR it would have shown on the recipient...I've in Gamestop MANY times
$60 for a USED xbox 360 controller, smh...
Miku Hatsune he means that's how much they were selling them for
brassmonkeyjew lol new 360 controllers where 60$ back when 360 was a thing. I'm sure they are not still 60 bucks at walmart if they even have any.
+A42yearoldARAB at the some gamestops they don't update the prices on time
Used 360 controllers are $30... Lol.
+Dragonite955 maybe his store is a shady one if it's known to lie I doubt all stores would be like what you think
I've been boycotting GameStop for about 2 years now. They are trash. I'd rather just buy straight off of psn or Amazon. Hell, even walmart. Screw you GameStop.
Jesse Palmateer I miss the small/privately owned game stores
onebozo4u me too
onebozo4u they still exist. it's just harder to come across. ain't no better in terms of trading either.
just retro game stores and flea market's, other ebay store's. running a physical store cost a lot. would be nice to run one , one of these days perhaps. been playing around with coding my own sega genesis games.
I'm boycotting all next gen consoles. Get on my level.
who remembers when Gamestop was still Funcoland
GameStop wasn't Funcoland. GameStop was Babbages. GameStop was around already when Funcoland was still around and GameStop bought Funcoland. They also bought out GameWorld and eventually their biggest rival Electronics Boutique/EB Games.
john ghetto I remember when GameStop was/bought out EB Games (which was essentially the same as GameStop, but not shifty and Devious)
Gamestop was EB games
I had EB games, then it turned into GameStop... I saw a comment the person said I remember when EB games bought GameStop...? I had EB games stores when I was younger, then it was GameStop.. how did EBgames buy out GameStop, if game stop stores took over EB games...? The Mandela Effect strikes again lolz
In canada they don't have gamestop but we have EB games
I knew they pulled that preorder bullshit when I tried to get a copy of Metroid prime corruption on day of release, didn't preorder it, tried to go in after work to get a copy and they told me I could only get it if I preordered, walked across the street to Bestbuy and there was like 25 copies..moral of the story only preorder if you plan on trading in games towards what you want
why you got so many doors bruh
+Orlando Oltivero closet bathroom hallway
Back Pocket Game Reviews ahh, i got the same i just realized. my bad bruh 😂
+Orlando Oltivero I have another door not in the frame as well because I have 2 closets
Back Pocket Game Reviews damn u gotta room then
+Orlando Oltivero yeah it's the master bedroom of my house.
I traded in my old Wii and they gave me 20$. They we're selling Wii's for 80$.
_. Mimadous _. Yeah most businesses are open to make a profit. They are not there for charity. Try opening your own business and you will see!
+Michael K Goode 400% profit margin is ridiculous. Most businesses have a 20-40% margin and that is still generous.
for used products it's 100% margin minimum. for new products there is no rule, some mark-ups are crazy, others are non existent.
_. Mimadous _. yeah I friggin hate that to, they sell a DS game for a 1.47 plus tax, and you sell it to them for .27 cents, like wtf!
$20 is actually reasonable I have no clue what the hell you're talking about.
MrZeopediaR6 You can just reset the file, no big deal
No, I bought it new when it was actually used.
Was that the first time you ever bought a 3DS game?
JobeMinacum Why do you ask this? This wasn't the first time I bought a 3DS game, but it was the last time I bought a 3DS game. I know with every other 3DS game I ever bought before that was fully sealed though. I assume GameStop opened that seal and put tape on themselves, because that's the only 3DS game I ever bought that that has happened with. Pokemon and everything else was fully sealed.
Nott Joey
I ask because if you'd ever bought a brand new 3ds game you should know they are wrapped in plastic when brand new.
That's funny, most of the time they try to sell a used games as "new" by telling people it was just the display copy.
That's what I think they were trying to do, sell me a used game they claimed was new.
It's a negative bc w a new game, yes u get 30 days but that's ONLY to exchange for the same game (if u remove the plastic). While buying it used, u have 7 days to return & trade it for another game of the same price or get a full refund...unlike buying new.
+Kail Habib very true
+Nobody For president no you cant return a new game opened for anything other then the same game if it was defective.
Ryen Moore wait.................... What the actual f***
Creed Walker lol
wow the gamestop around me sells them for 60
My brother traded in his PS4 to get a slim.. the employee said he was supposed to take $50 off the trade-in bc the grips on the controller were worn and a new controller doesn't even cost $50. Guy was nice though and didn't do it
What's Michael phelps gonna do with all those gold medals, sell for 2.60 @gamestop
+Patriot lol
not to mention their "mystery boxes" have been rummaged by employees for rare collectibles
I gotta be honest I don't know any other game store then GameStop.
+Christian Soriano lol Best Buy, Target, Toys R Us
Back Pocket Game Reviews I wasn't expecting toys r us
+Christian Soriano lol neither was I but it rolled off the keyboard easier then Wal-Mart lol who is also a terrible company. I will be doing a video soon on GameStop and their negative impact on the gaming market
Back Pocket Game Reviews ok
+demac741 I just put a video up on best places to buy games
FUN FACT: You can sell a Wii U at game stop (which is about $300) for $50!!!
AWESOME PRICE!!! RIGHT!?
ThePizzaBox 360 buys for 200 trade in for 30
*ARHAGUPUMFLUMSHAPOODLESPLINGCANDOODLEMOPABBLENARSHOMNARGUM*
ThePizzaBox irk 50 dollars is worth 500 xboxs
I sold my wii u at eb games for $150 CAD and they were selling it for $230
gamestop is still selling Blur for the Xbox 360 used for $24 and Alice madness returns ive seen for $35 used. Crazy ass prices
+evilscoobydoo Alice was so good but it's $20 digital on xbox
I got Alice Madness returns brand new for $10 on Black Friday like 3 or 4 years ago. Still have it new and saw it for like $35 used like 2 months ago at GameStop.
I bought Alice Madness Returns for the '18 Halloween sale for $5. Great game. It was the only time i actually listened to reviews for something, and im glad i did lol
Alice is a insanely overlooked but yet amazing game.
@@BPGRYT It really is. Became one of my favorite games pretty quick. I'm surprised it isn't more well known.
Why is nobody reporting gamestop for producing copies of games? They could go out of business for this...
Jose Lara because nobody wants GameStop to go out business
+Cubedude LOL
Jose Lara they make copies?!
Honestly makes me feel bad for my local GS that treats me and other customers with the greatest of respect and customer service!
n1ntndo13 can I come live with you so I can go to your local GameStop
no kidding mine sucks they are total dicks
n1ntndo13 mine give great deals and they're pretty cool
Mine are really great also. All the employees that have helped have been really nice, and everyone is seeming willing to help you with a game.
I've always loved GameStop ngl
Yeah, I like my local one. I take guilty pleasure in placing any preorder amount above five bucks. It's such a good feeling knowing you just have to pay the remaining taxes on a preorder and you're off.
I absolutely love buying physical copies. But I'm from Ohio and I have a usual Gamestop. I always go there for my pre orders. I've gone there since I was 7 and the managers begged me to apply. Actually begged me. But
The one day I went to a different Gamestop.
You're probably seen as a whale at this point and treated accordingly
frosty1130 stop preordering.
BiscuitFever Preordering helps a lot of people, so it's not going away. The problem is dangling preorder dlc at us as if promising a worthwhile/working game and future support when that's far from what we get time to time. Not to say you aren't aware of any the issues.
BiscuitFever oh I know pre ordering is an awful thing. Especially day one items. But truly nothing will really stop pre orders.
solblackguy I'm assuming that's a fat joke? Not sure. Maybe a reference? Truly don't know and don't care
i was hired at gamestop 2 years ago for the season. they called me in twice and didn't hear from them for weeks and got a new job. Manager calls me a month after having a new job asking me to come in. he was pissed.
That sound you make every sentence pisses me off couldn't finish the vid.
i never noticed until now, i'm not okay with this.
*smacks lips annoyingly*
oh god it's so annoying
breathing makes you mad?
CornerGuy MC god I can't unhear it
I once got a game home to open the box and got half a disk.
Never been back.
tobalaz The fuck?
tobalaz should've checked before
The Muffin Man185 damn that sucks. Glad it hasn't happened to me....yet
I once got Pokemon Platinum at Gamestop used. The game had a noticable crack in it that prevented it from fitting in my DS.
TheTanakaHalf
About the whole pre-order thing, I actually missed school the day Modern Warfare 3 was released so I can play the game and all 3 of my local Gamestop's had run out. But I went to Target and they dozens of copies for sale. So yeah guys, plenty of other stores out there incase you don't pre order
Carlos Mayoral thats why i go to best buy haha.
yeah but try finding a game several years later anywhere other than gamestop. you could pay full price to buy digital or go to gamestop and find mw3 for $13 (price at my gamestop) or go to Wal-Mart, best buy or any other retailer and realize it no longer exists there.
Thats almost exactly my story for World of Warcraft WoD, and World of Warcraft Legion.
Ron Keefer the internet you can find MW3 in many other places than gamestop lmao
I fucking hate Gamestop and I think they should be run out of buisiness.
if he sucks his teeth one more damn time
Finish that statement, sir!
Chase Harris Oh lord, the Cell Block Tango popped into my head lol.
Chase Harris it's killing me, bad camera habit
I'm literally only in the comments section because I was looking for this comment lmfao
lmao I love you all
See, I usually go to my local GameStop but that's because those PS2 classics are too good to just pass up.
Ariel Chavarry infinite warfare? Are u serious
+Gospy Exposed PEACEE maybe he likes it what's wrong with that
Ariel Chavarry btw thats a bad idea
Ariel Chavarry I'm so sorry that you preordered infinite warfare! I hope you get a refund!
I just want, a good, wholesome, honest video game store
Jonathan Stallings HAHAHAHAHA GOOD ONE
Its called steam
David Trollston lol no. Support sucks
Jonathan Stallings PLAY&TRADE
toadBob bro ive got a walmart next to gamestop in white lake
Coming from a former employee, this is accurate as FUCK lol
+xxInGodsReachxx it's funny cause a lot of people claim I made it up, but you can tell who the real former employees are
I remember the first week I worked there, we had our midnight for Black Ops 3 and we had our District Manager coming into town lol.
+Nickolis Harris that's pretty accurate. It's more noticeable in a management position.
James Fig I always buy my games at Walmart and sometimes I just buy the PS4 gift cards
James Fig its probably just the employees.
Ey b0ss GameStop is scandalous and has horrible return policies, they give me pennies on the dollar for used items... it's just sad
James Fig they have to return your money if it is not open.
+Oubim Cius that's correct unopened can be returned. Anything else is a trade.
one time I opened a game for my birthday and there was no disc. had to drive back up to the store
Sethb124 lol how the hell do they forget that?
Sethb124 same thing happened to me but with bioshock infinite the employee that sold me it was a 12-13 year old lol
I worked at a Gamestop for 2 years and it happened to me before. Sometimes it is hectic in the store or you have a lot of task to complete. It happens... if it's often then maybe you should get a new job lol.
same
Not always the employees fault.
***** Yeah exactly.
A wiener trap is more like it
Johnny b that would suck lol
Gamestop sold me a game with disk burn
Christopher Raspante That's why you always check first especially if it's pre owned I always look for really bad scratches, they were more than happy to switch my CD
I know many people have had horrible experiences with GameStop but I've never really had a bad experience. The GameStop i go to has really nice employees too
Adam Morris everyone has good employees just the prices you fool
Adam Morris the manager at my gamestop was featured in game informer
Adam Morris same here
NBH BadBoy the prices are $60 for a new released game tats the regular price everywhere
+Luis Roman unless you have Gamers Club unlocked then they are $47.99 at Best Buy
"well did you pre order?...you didn't?...hmmm let me see if I have any copies left...nope I sure don't..." and I'm like "dude I see the stack of games behind you?"
one problem I have with GameStop is that they sell you a game that's already been opened and stick a New sticker on it like wtf...
+Everyday Black Gamer King yeah, they just don't want to have live games on the floor. It's OK if your in a store that doesn't let employees check out new games. But some stores do.
and the only reason I say that is because let's say you buy world of final fantasy from gamestop and I buy it from Walmart, the Walmart copy will be covered in plastic while the gamestop one most likely will have no plastic on it 😒😒😒
Anywhere else game covered in plastic. GameStop covered in scratches.
@@iceking1887 that's the used games lmao all new games are in plastic
Sucking Dick Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Yeah But I Have Been Buying For Years Yo,You Go Get A New Game For Example Say They Have One ☝️ Copy Left,I Guarantee It Will Have A New Sticker On It And It Will Be Used ...
3.
Yup, I remember when MW3 came out. Stopped at three stores, only found it at Walmart.
+Rookie yep and I'm sure GamStop just didn't think it would sell that well. I mean it's just a call of duty game.
Back Pocket Game Reviews
To be slightly fair, it was the morning after midnight release. While I can see them purposely having less copies than they need, it confuses me. All that means for them is that they missed a sale.
+Rookie Yeah I get it. But you didn't preorder, you were being taught your lesson. Sometimes I would get a shipment it 48 hours after release bigger then my first shipment.
Back Pocket Game Reviews
Definitely learned my lesson. That taught me to buy from Steam. It's a shame Corporate aren't a bunch of gaming insiders. The company could be so much better.
+Rookie yeah I definently agree with that. I feel they have lost a lot of the core gaming market.
My parents tried getting me Black Ops 2, yet I got a Ghost disc.
rip.....
CoD is stupidly overrated and overhyped.
Quentin Pittman true dat and IGN praises COD and blast whatever not COD can't spell ignorant without IGN am i right?
Quentin Pittman true dat and IGN praises COD and blast whatever not COD can't spell ignorant without IGN am i right?
Quentin Pittman same thing is it not?
how to shop at GameStop if that's your only choice
1. don't pre order stuff.
2 . Always see if they have used version of the games you want
3. Don't get a powerful rewards card
4. Don't be stupid enough to sell consoles or games to them
5. never get the disc replacement plan
Trust you're better off at best buy, amazon or steam to get your games
+Ron Keefer from 5 to 7...... makes sense
+Arctic Aj yeah I'm against the number 6
2SidedTech wait wait wait whats wrong with the game replacement plan its just another 3 dollars to pay for?
2SidedTech
For one year, unless you never care for games, you will never need
the gamestop i go to is on point same staff. and great service
Kaine Kerrick yeah because the company cares about you, but not their employees. as long as you're happy, screw the employees
Yup, I've only had one bad experience at a Gamestop.
Kaine Kerrick same
My bro got destiny for Xbox 360 for 30 dollars, months later, he sold it to game stop, and got like 2 dollars from it. I looked over, and saw them selling destiny used for 20 bucks. I told him and it pissed him off.
Jake Deschamps destiny with ttk expansion and the other two before RoI is like $5
Jake Deschamps how do you think companies make money? Would it make any sense for them to buy it for $20 and sell it for $20? That's like a pawn shop buying a computer for $300 and then turning around and selling it for that. There's no room for profit.
Brittany Andersen you are true but instead of 2 dollars they could of given it to him for at least 15 or 20 and sold it for 25
Solerdude well for starters, this has nothing to do with hats.
Like gamestop giving $25 for Earthbound when Earthbound is worth $200+.
as a canadian who only has gamestop in their city i totally wish i could stop shopping there, but where else would i get good games? walmart only has the best sellers so its hard to find good games unless i go to game stop, i cant shop online either so im literally stuck having to go to gamestop i want to kms
Ruruka Andou Amazon or something similar perhaps?
Ruruka Andou I know it sucks im a Canadian and we can go to be games or GameStop which is the same company or if u are lucky find a Best Buy with good games
Ruruka Andou "it just better to shop online in Canada I even hear that best buy is good choice if only buy game"
+Iguana G-man lol
Iguana G-man same with me bro
i saw a used Destiny game for 40$ and a new one for 20 .___.
Cesar i see that happen alot too
I bought Marvels Spider-Man for €45.00 (Irish currency-its $53.16) from Gamestop and the minute i put it in my ps4 it started making terrible loud noises and wouldnt download for 4 weeks. When it finally downloaded, it reset and shot the disc out and my ps4 broke and shut down. I had to buy a new ps4 and when i brought the game back they told me they couldnt do anything.
wow i knew gamestop was annoying with there bullshit, but this is crazy
they're
Aaron Maness Their*
Jamie Rydberg there! The jew escaped the cooker
Aaron Maness Thats why I only buy pre owned games from Best Buy. They test the game to make sure that they work. Their also pretty cheap. I got black flag for $15 bucks and works like new. I got Skyrim for $10 bucks works like new. So always go best buy
Ewa Szczech I got black flag new for $20 at GameStop a few weeks after it came out and it was still in the packaging
I'll never forget, I got Diablo 3 on xb1 and went home to go play it and come to find out they put dishonored in the case
ChiKid312 well was dishonored new at the time because you could've just said it was empty and gotten D3 and dishonored lol
i think D3 came out b4 that
it did but I bought it later
did they at least swap it out for you easily without making a big deal??
Steven Tyler no they gave me a hard time saying that there was no evidence showing that they did that
turn down the sensitivity on your mic everytime you swallow its like your Choking down a cup of pudding.
Curseius I was thinking just that.
Curseius LOL!
Curseius
Curseius I was about to comment this, then decided to check and see if anyone else agreed. And thus, great minds.
Curseius this had me razzled
The fact that i worked at a gamestop for seasonal and this man hit all the issues going on. Its really dirty how they do their workers n customers
+Alexander Bryant it sure is, yet people still defend them.
I'm not defending them anymore= or buying either! My most previous mistake was the PS3,7 airplane games and a barely working i sided headset. Doesn't matter, Ace Combat Infinity shut down on 3-31 anyway! :D
John Borlaug good job bro. Online will destroy there stores. Cause ain’t anyone got time to go the store anymore.?
only look @ Target while wife is lookin fer vids nowI! Rght on Jonathan N! :D
John Borlaug tell your wife to stop being a dinosaur
Still surprises me that they are still in business, with the majority of the market and developers going digital...
Jason usually people go to gamestop for collections
didn't even think about that
+Jason
I only ever go to GameStop to receive distribution events that Pokémon might be having.
There's nothing quite like observing a wall mounted from top to bottom with video games. That's something you don't see in an online store
Unless its on steam, I HATE digital purchases... Cause that means, if your console dies, you lose all of those games. Ive had it happen to me... At least with steam its saved on the cloud so i can access my games from any computer with the same files
On Black Friday I got a copy of infinite warfare and battlefield 1 was in there
Jake Rasmusson you won, my friend.
Jake Rasmusson you should've kept it and said the case was empty
Jake Rasmusson that's even better
I went for modern warfare years ago, and that how I got my copy of Modern Warfare 2 lol
S A M E F A C E yas
bro can u count how many times times he swallows and smack his lips
Andrew Mendez about 36
And blinks
Andrew Mendez make it a drinking game
lol rekt
new employees forget 2 put the game in the casket? why not simply check after purchase? I always check 4 horizontal scratches anyway.
Lmao man I don't think the game's having a funeral.
Kelvin Watson lmao
Think this is mostly affecting nongamers who are buying for gamers
I HAVEN'T EVEN BEEN In A GAMESTOP IN LIKE 2-YEARS!!!
force Thrown ikr me too
I think it's been like 3 years since I've been in one lol
+Giggs Will Tear You Apart ???? Check high prices????
I'd buy a game from gamestop but NEVER sell them one
My dad expected me to swim, and look at me now!
I go to therapy twice a week and I have a phobia of public pools.
That would be somewhat sad if it were true, I actually just swam to the shallow end.
what a horrible company to work for. Never going to buy another game there.
angelgodric I will
angelgodric digital is a ripoff (over here at least), never get a new release digitally unless I didn't have a choice
robhigg2203 In what way is it a ripoff?
Astartes Master Remiel technically basing this on experiences with the U.K. based equivalent of GameStop or Amazon but a lot of major new games are £40-45 in the best stores or websites. Just checked the basic digital preorder package for Battlefield 1 (ok thought it was already out but many recently released games said the same price) £54.99, and digital launch games might have dropped considerably in price but could still get a unused on disc copy for £15 less on Amazon UK
Dude your good you deserve more popularity
+Elite Eclipse all in good time hopefully. I don't put a lot in to editing... Kinda wonder if that holds me back?
bro your better than me
+Elite Destroyer huh? What you talking bout man
im saying you have good content you desevere to be more popular
+Elite Destroyer I agree just I see where I could improve, just with a full-time job wife and 2 kids gets a little complex. But all in good time. I have only been at it for like 7 months. And thank you I appreciate hearing that
I turned in all my games when I was a kid and they only gave me 1 to 3$ each and the next time I went there thay were selling most of them for 20 to 40$
TheFallen That's because they make it sound good but they just want more money
TheFallen that's how they make their money. they operate a lot of the same laws as pawn shops and they use the concept buy low sell high
TheFallen sell them on carousell bro
They make the vast majority of their money on pre owned games. They don't make much on new.
In Australia they only make like a $30 markup on new games
Learned my lesson on pre order when I went to pick up Halo2. There was a pre order line and the non pre order line at the time of release. There were non pre order people buying their copies 10 minutes after they opened the doors.
I've stopped buying from GameStop. I stick to ps store and eBay sometimes.
Ebay Is legitness
Gunumstyle everytime i be buying stuff on ebay they give me fake versions of what i order
so that why i think ebay sucks
Same, I online shop because it's easier and I can do it naked
+JappyChan happened to one of my buddy's.
Before I buy a game I check the sites of other stores that have physical locations to see if they're overcharging or not. It's just common sense. All those things he mentioned can be overcome with common sense.
ehh I wouldn't say common sense, but a little more precaution to smart people.
greg davis me too lmao one time gamestop had a game for $60 and target gad it for $40
greg davis me to when i was gonna get gta v when it came out like 6 months at game stop it was 70 and at target it was 40 dollors
I only trust Amazon
Or by simply not going to GameStop.
I also seen with my own eyes a employee taking my returned brand new copy of advanced warfare and opened it right in front of me a d labeling it used
Why would they do that? It counts against the store.
It was purchased and left the store. It's used.
Zap Rowsdower when gamestop sells it as used they gain full profit of the sale
Strictly Better MtG but it was still in the wrapping
Recently?
Ah this brings back memories of when I worked there back in 2003 and 2004. I made the cut and survived seasonal, sga (3rd key!), and moved up to asm. It was "great" giving someone .01 for their game boy when they traded it and all their games in to upgrade to something new. They often didn't even notice how little we gave for the system itself. And then we sold it for $9.99!
GameStop is pretty much a monopoly
Xbox Jared where would get cod Walmart or amazon
Victor Murillo I'm tripping out right now. We have the same first and last name! 😂😂
Vic Mur shit that's crazy lmao You copied my name!
It's as fun as PLAYING monopoly.
cant have a monopoly on selling something that is sold everywhere else. you dont know what youre talking about
PowerUp Rewards is a BIG joke too!!!!
etcher1981 you need to spend 250$ to get a free 5$ from a power up reward. not worth at all.
AL but you are also saving money on the games you buy
etcher1981 well not really I buy used games and always return them back before 7 days for full refund build lots of points and always get my money back
i don't. Just lettin' ya khow it don't work for everybody. Like me. Fuck them.
Only problem is you lose the points when you return them
I buy digital now or just buy directly from the developer's website if I can avoid it.
I took gta for the PS4 up there to get money and they literally only gave me 17$ for it 😂 I just kept it bruh
+Don96 but still sells used for $55
Back Pocket Game Reviews Exactly bruh , They ruining video games for me
Donte’ Harris yo your name is similar at to mine my name is Deonte Harris
they gave me 20 bucks for my 3ds like wtf
Mohammed Alhendi Never sell your games at gamestop. Do it on eBay or sell it to a known person. But I just trade games with family members and people at my school
Mohammed Alhendi I sold me 3ds black normal for 100$ with20% off since I wanted cash there's no way u sold ur 3ds to game stop for 20 unless u stupid af
Mohammed Alhendi I sold mine for about $100 how the hell did you get $20 for it lmao
+Jdud Playz| Graphics & Games | He's probably lying and didn't really sell it. He just wanted to draw attention and make GS look bad.
Mohammed Alhendi I would have given you 90$
I've stopped going there 2 years ago.
Camps2630 you should really only get the warranty for 360 games. They used to get burned by the console all the time
+InsertYourTopicHere he isn't kidding ALL the TIME. Or if you have kids with terrible habits of not putting the game in the case
Before it was "GameStop" it was known by a company called Funcoland. I used to manage 3 stores. The company was started in the owners basement. He sold 424 stores back in the early 2000's. Babbage's was also bought and turned into what all you new people know as GameStop.
+Notellu it wasn't known as funcoland. GameStop bought them. Just like they did EB games 9 years ago!
Back Pocket Game Reviews No shit. I said before it was GameStop it was Funcoland, Babbage's, and EB. Damn you can't read.
Alexander Fonseca Looks like someone needs some attention. Go find a friend you little bitch. I slap douchebags like you for fun.
Bs
get a new fucking profile picture
+Bruh Forreal You do the same
Bruh Forreal my friend had access to my account lmao
think that was 2ks fault. amazon couldnt fulfill their pre-orders either
who the fuck buys physical copies anymore?
Ben Jeffery It sucks buying Virtual games because if your account gets banned like mine you lose all of your games
Ben Jeffery Really pointless cause you still have to install it in the hard drive and wait regardless the disc is just to unlock the game.
Uh...pretty much everyone? Some people want to be able to sell back games that they dislike or no longer play. Plus, some games get limited releases or come with bonuses like artbooks, soundtracks CDs, etc. and become valuable collector's items later on. I've sold SNES games for double the price that I bought them.
are you10?
I buy physical copies of everything. Music, games, movies. That way, I own and keep what I buy forever.
People complain about GameStop ripping them off. 1. All they need to do is just put it on eBay or something to get a good price, 2. How else is GameStop supposed to make money? If you don't like it just simply don't trade in your games there
Customer: I got a PS4, XBOX and 10 games
Game stop: best I can do is 3.00$
+Jeffro C lol pretty accurate
I feel like this guy was fired and this is his response to it
Randommike100 Exactly, because he spent all this time making the video. He probably did get fired for something he believes was insignificant.
isn't that the end goal of every company ever. To get people and their employees to buy stuff.
Spot on.
Randommike100
after watching this video I think you may be right. every complaint he has, and for that most people on here has fall into either not knowing how retail works OR potential lies.
GameStop is the only place that I can get games fast so I have no choice but to shop there
+David Roudebush Best Buy!
Back Pocket Game Reviews their games are too expensive. I go to gamestop because I can find cheap games, I recently got a bunch of games for under 5 bucks
+David Roudebush if you have their Gamers Club Unlicked you get 20% off new games. They also price match Amazon.
+RunningMan492 90% of Gamestops problem are the corporation, not the employees. Employees a lot of the time are the reason people go back to them.
Wow, 11,113 subscribers. I never went to GameStop. Digital downloading is the best.
why do alot of people like digital copies.
J Gamez Because it's easier and you don't have to swap out disks
i only say siad that because i usually bring the games my cousin doesn't have to her house
Eh, I don't really care
but you cant scratch a digital copy like you would a new disc.
keep it up my friend, trying to start up myself, and I would love to see new people on the popular end of RUclips instead of the same old stuff!
So true all I see is Minecraft and Vines
+Zapster64 so you guys want me to make Minecraft videos? Lol
NO NOT AT ALL.
+Zapster64 I was kidding! I hate Minecraft
Back Pocket Game Reviews good :3
+Christopher Andersen dude people keep saying I'm lying about that lol wish I was. It hurts to find out Santa isn't real lol
+Christopher Andersen yeah I bought Metroid Trilogy on my Wii u
Back Pocket Game Reviews Yeah, I've heard great things about the Metroid Prime Trilogy, I'll have to purchase it at some point in the future, though that'll be easier said than done, due to the fact that I'd be more likely now to buy the Nintendo Switch than the Wii U, hopefully they make an HD remastering on the Switch. Same goes for Xenoblade, I'd love to see Bionis and Mechonis in 720P HD graphics with a revamped engine on the Switch!
+Christopher Andersen maybe the switch will remaster it I would love a new Metroid games as well
7k Gamestop workers disliked your video bruh
+xXx_TWOD _xXx lol that's what I thought to
Truth hurts, huh?
Not quite sure what you mean?
No Managers
I hate Gamestop's business
practices as much as the next gamer but try to shoot for sounding a bit less like Jimmy Fallon in his "Ew" sketch he does with his guests. Just swallow it." Of course, that's what she said. ;-)
Chris Cook Best comment 2016?! Jesus fuck I'm dead
Chris Cook I found his excessive blinking distracting too, glad I'm not the only one that had an instant dislike for this guy
Chris Cook
You must be a joy talking to at parties.
Man, if you found something that trivial worth bitching about to this extent, you must be an extremely miserable person.
+Jeremy Sanders people complain about everything. It's almost like I forced him to watch it.
