    2012 was an interesting year for Macs. Everything got slimmer, we lost the DVD drives, and we got better looking displays.

    Back in 2012 I upgraded my 13” 2011 MBP to the 2012 15”, wow it was a crazy good machine for back in the day, you could tell it was really special with the display, and it was pretty powerful (no way you’re getting a 6+ core CPU in a laptop or consumer desktop in 2012)... doesn’t have that same feeling when I got my 2019 16”, just felt like getting any other computer, other than the Touch Bar which is meh, really it didn’t set itself apart from the other laptops.

    I just bought my 2013 13 inch MacBook Pro yesterday and I have to say so far it's amazing! I used to have a 2011 11 inch MacBook Air, but I gave that one to my dad. I got my new laptop with the 250 or so gigs and it does me fine. The screen is extremely crisp and I can see everything extremely well. It runs Minecraft as well as DiRT 2 without the fan going on too much. I highly recommend you buy one, if you can shell out $1,700+

    I use a PC. Its got the Windows 8.1 on it now. It's great. This morning I found that it erased all my data from my hard drive overnight. Then a couple of restarts and approximately 3 hours of idk-what-the-fucking-fuckery after it all got back. Did I say it's great? Also its a high end laptop with 2.7GHz and 4GB RAM yet it still takes about 6 minutes (!) to start up and an additional 3minutes to 1.5 hours (according to how often the message comes up "Please wait we're preparing you desktop 15%............" ). Shutting down is also easy. Now. Before it took me 30 minutes to look up where the fuck is the shut down button. Two of my 6 months old USB port don't work anymore. I hardly ever used them anyway. It's very clever it is. I don't know how to turn off the screens automatic adjustment so when I watch a movie it constantly changes from dimmed to very bright. Love this feature. This is only what happened in the last 48 hours. I had this laptop for almost 6 months now. Its a HP ProBook (lol). You should buy one refurbished. Right after I sent it the fuck back somehow and get a fucking Apple like I was supposed to 6 months ago.

    I love the PC fanboys here who are saying "I can build a computer that will knock your socks off" but we aren't talking about desktop builds, we're talking about a laptop that is thin and light while still able to do demanding tasks like movie and photo editing. Heck, for some of us we don't even care about your "super desktop builds", some of us are aren't looking for a supercomputer here, we're also looking for a great OS with a easy to use UI. So shut up about your PC preaching, nobody except the real Mac @$$holes who give meaning to the word "fanboy" will care.

      Garrett payne alien ware is pretty over priced too. Also, a lot of gaming laptops are just too bulky to be portable.

    • @herranton
      @herranton 9 лет назад

      TheEnderKidTZX The point with desktops is that for the for the price you pay for a apple desktop, you can have a 'pc' that will perform at a considerably higher level. You may not want super computing power, so you are just paying too much for what you get when you buy a mac. You can build the exact same pc for about a third of the cost that Apple charges for their products. Of course if you are an Apple fanboy, that will never, ever make any sense to you.

    • @Windows7Pro2009
      @Windows7Pro2009 4 года назад +1

      Ameet Shrestha you should get the unibody as the mid 2012 Retinas have a faulty voltage controller to power the discrete GPU, meaning if it’s broken then the mid 2012 Retina is pretty much unusable. So it’s better to buy a used mid 2012 unibody.

      It's funny how I thought Macs could play games (when I posted these comments about 3 years ago). In fact, I didn't even know what Steam was, yet I still replied to say that Macs can run a lot of games.
      To me, then, games were just things like Minecraft, and other basic games; however, I obviously didn't realise that the gaming world is much larger, and that Macs are not the machines geared towards these tasks.

I got my first Mac on 2011, when I joined Uni I made some research and found out that mac was my thing ( for performance and stuff ). For 3 hole years it worked, same as the first boot! And now I will definitely get me a brand new MBR I don't like brands, I like thing that works.

      ***** Muhammad Zulkifli Bin Ramil exactly. Don't get a mpb only because it's apple and a lot of people have one. Get it because it has a great operating system, ease of use, reliability, battery life. It really depends on your needs. I use mine for uni and I love using it everyday. It's the computer I always use because it's easy to organise, easy to find files. I left windows for productivity as it was a head ache to use, too difficult for me to use. Programs like Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro are essential to create awesome content easily. I definitely recommend the mbp for stuff like work. But for gaming windows all the way. You'll only be disappointed for using a mbp if you're using it for gaming!

    Absolutely Agree, I have both a Mac and a PC, both very high specced, (this machine in fact) and a Gaming PC and I love them both. The PC I can play games and get some work done. Then I can go to my Macbook Pro and relax, video edit and work.
    What I have noticed however is that it is usually, and I get it's not all of the time, but usually it is the PC users picking at the Mac users creating the arguement. I love PC and Windows, but 'hate' the Users, especially when they haven't used a Mac too.

    Flash architecture, thickness, weight, portability. The Retina display reduces glare up to 75 percent while maintaining incredible color and quality. In fact, it has a 29 percent higher contrast ratio than a standard MacBook Pro display. Blacks are blacker. Whites are whiter. And everything in between is rich and vibrant. IPS technology gives you a wide, 178-degree view of everything on the screen, so you’ll see the difference at practically any angle.

    depends on what you intend on using it for. i was in the same boat as you, when it came down to it, i compromised and got the retina pro 15". its really light for 15", comfortable (it does get hot though at times). in the end it came down to the haswell air vs retina 15. the screen, power and the fact that it only weighs a pound and a half more than the air sealed the deal. i never considered an ipad as a replacement, i just dont see it as such as it was never advertised to be a replacement.

    Yes, you can build a BEAST DESKTOP. But if you want a notebook then you're out of luck. Notebooks with the "same" hardware as a desktop (graphics and so on) are almost always more expensive than their desktop counter parts. Just look at 3.5" 1TB drives and 2.5" 1TB drives - they're a lot pricier.

    just the display, it has much bigger resolution on the same screen size, hence the display looks very sharp.

    well, if you are a mac user you won't need it that much. Since almost all applications can be bought and downloaded online and operation system found on USB stick, you won't need it except few times maybe if you bought a video game or want to install windows. I personally have been using my macbook pro 2010 and never used the optical drive, I even replaced it with an SSD. I accept sacrificing the optical bay for more slim MBP,just buy external cd drive, it's cheaper and easy to replace if failed

    Well, you can't really compare standard parts that are buyable online etc. with the custom build components (main board especially.) that is used in most Macs (I think the only exception is the Mac Pro). In most of Apples computers, they use components that are built especially for them (to match their design goals/self set goals etc). That is another reason that adds to the price of a Mac.

    I agree with you, but I do love Apple's Support and OS X. I also just feels really good to use (if that doesn't sound too childish). Also, why do you think some rich people buy things like solid gold hot tubs. It's not because it works better, but also because it looks nicer and you can sort of 'show off' to other people. That's sort of my point of view.

    At the end of the day there are certain things that the Mac will always be better for. For example, as a graphic designer, I wouldn't go near any other laptop unless necessary, my macs the only one i'd reach for

    It costs about $1,199 for the lowest one. The most expensive MacBook Pro can go for about $1,799 in US dollars.

    If you wanna get a Mac for whatever reason, don't get the 21.5" iMac. It's not that much better than this old PC I'm writing on right now. Don't let the lower pricetag compared to the 27" fool you, the 27" lets you upgrade your RAM which you can buy very cheaply on amazon and get 32GB, freaking amazing. I found out that buying the iMac from Apple's store was cheaper than third party even though I still have to buy a Swedish Apple keyboard... Plan before you buy.
