Honestly, i love both. But Ultimate is still my cup of tea for the over zealous violence compared to 2001. I would love a reboot of Alucards adventures after becoming shrodinger.
Honestly Alucard becoming Michael Mcdoesntexist will simply solve most occult problems for the Hellsing organization, he will just pop out of nowhere and Kill his targets. Tho he may just hang around Hellsing manor as its new butler and leave most field work to Seras since she seems like to be doing perfectly well as the Organization's most capable operative for the last 30 years or so, yeah you know what becoming the new Hellsing Butler sounds exactly like what Alucard will do for shits and gigs.
Honestly, I've never had an issue with Walter's betrayal. Although I've only seen Hellsing Ultimate once and it's been a long time, so I'll admit I'm not too confident that I didn't misunderstand or misremember what happened and thus am interpreting his betrayal and motivations incorrectly years later. To me, it's always felt like he was very much a wolf in sheep's clothing. His demeanor and personality were deliberately presented as very posh and polite, but deep down his greatest passion was fighting and killing monsters. So knowing that killing Alucard was his greatest ambition and that he had aged past the point where he can physically accomplish such a feat, he made a deal with Millennium to put him back in his prime and set the battlefield for their duel. So with all that in mind, it makes sense that he wouldn't care about Millennium destorying Britain and killing god knows how many people. Because much like the Major, his only goal was attaining victory over the greatest monster that ever lived, no matter what he had to do to make that happen. Given his ultimate motivation, he is depicted as someone who only became part of a government agency that protects people because it gave him the ability to fight monsters, not because he cared about protecting people from those monsters.
There is a Prequel Manga Where 50 years prior young Walter teams up with Alucard to take down the Major at the first major Vampire testing site. It's this event that literally triggers the events of Hellsing in the main manga.
i wouldn't even say he "betrayed" them so much as he just wanted a good and honest fight with Alucard to determine the superior of the two. before the beginning of the fight he showed clear respect and affection to Seras and wished her good luck in her fight. he showed no disdain for Integra and the only "hatred" he had for Alucard, really, was a form of jealousy that honestly came from the fact that he was growing older and weaker and Alucard wasn't therefore he could never have tested his true abilities against a truly strong opponent. by the end of it both of them still showed their respect to each other and had no true hatred for each other. but as long as he worked for the Hellsing organization, there's no way he could have gotten an opportunity to fight Alucard 1 v 1 so that's why he did what he did. compared to a lot of other characters, i would say he was honestly at the bottom of the list who had no intention of legitimately destroying his original comrades, but rather taking on the strongest member to determine who truly WAS the strongest. outside that, the victor truly would be the victor, he wouldn't interfere with it.
Hellsing 2001 came out when I was 18-ish and I used to watch and enjoy it a lot. I liked how the characters were fleshed out and their relationships with each other (Integra's and Alucard's respect and friendship towards each other was beautiful IMHO). One of the characters I liked most in 2001 was Walter which kind of killed Ultimate for me, because I never liked nor understood his betrayal.
@@K_30You failed to understand that Walter is a butler second and a vampire hunter first. The entire plot of Hellsing Ultimate basically revolves around the good ol Bram Stoker Dracula theme of Human vs Monsters, It was a running theme that Alucard wants to be killed by a human. Everyone in the show essentially wants to run fades with him, but there are only very few in the show that he could call a worthy opponent, at first it was Alexander Anderson whom he sees as Abraham Hellsing reborn before he used the Nail to turn himself into a monster made in God's image, Then its Walter who wants another shot at him but in doing so turned traitor making Alucard lose all respect to him, then there is the Major, despite being a monster in human skin, is the opponent that actually managed to kill Alucard while completely maintaining his humanity and he did with cunning and guile.
I literally based two DnD characters on the abridged versions of Alucard and Seras. The dad liked to go on moonlit walks causing chaos and the daughter been so long I know she did some Seras type stuff but not a lot.
Honestly, I do think Millennium was being held back for season 2 of the original series. It's just as we now know, the show was cancelled after the first season.
I honestly love both the 2001 and Ultimate. Both have there own flaws and that's why on my collection of episodes, I remove the last non-Canon of 2001 and the first fast phase of Ultimate 😅
so about the first 6 epsisodes of 2001 and episode 3 onwards of ultimate, and the only question you'll really have is why Seras suddenly went from red head to blond.
@darkdialga777 yeah I love her old uniform back then. It just fits her persona. But sadly, it had to end at some point when her character development progresses
The anime from 2001 isn't good nor bad, it's just ok and the villain was quite interesting and original. But nothing tops what they did with Ultimate, very true to the source material while giving the opportunity for great perfomances in terms of voice acting, in the japanese version at least (haven't watched any other version). The animation is also great.
So I know I am going to sound like playing a little devil's advocate here. I think the big reason they changed the whole thing with Seras is that they knew people were already familiar with her origin story from the original 2001 anime. So much like Marvel/Sony did with Spiderman: Homecoming, you knew the backstory and the origin no need to rehash it too much. That said while the side characters were neat and all in 2001, I think Ultimate did a pretty good job over making them feel real. By also condensing the cast it allowed for more focus on the characters we did see. Also I think I got the message of why Alucard does things the way he does them better in Ultimate than in 2001. To Alucard monsters kill monsters its what they do. However when humans kill monsters it means something because in Alucard's mind only humans have the right to kill monsters. Which is why his despair over Anderson using the nail at the end of the series is so impactful as out of all the being in the world, he believed Anderson to be the one most worthy of killing him. Overall though I think I preferred Hellsing Ultimate over Hellsing 2001. Also one last side note, you kept saying Jan's name wrong. It's supposed to be Eastern European. So what we might think of Jan with a 'J' in Eastern European it's actually pronounced with a 'Y' sound. So it comes out more as Yan.
This is my thinking too. Something similar is done between Full Metal Alchemist and FMA Brotherhood in that Brotherhood skips over the first first arc from the manga because that is the portion of the story that the original anime covered as is before they went their own way with it. Understanding that that part of the story had already been animated, Brotherhood just did some quick verbal exposition on the subject and went from there.
@@uprising7416 Basically, because human blood, especially that of blood in bags, is simply like eating a hot dog or a hamburger. But Alucard's blood is unique entirely as it's the blood of a natural vampire.
Well, obviously Ultimate wouldn't be able to flesh out characters as well as 2001. The first has 13 episodes with about 330 minutes in total to tell and pad a relatively short story. The second has 10 episodes with about 530 minutes in total to tell a much longer story. As for Seras, I think her story in Ultimate was much more compelling. Oh, and Hellsing feeling like an actual organization in 2001... maybe but because sped things up in Ultimate by the end of episode 2 counting Walter and Integra all but 10 members were killed (Seras and Alucard aren't counted because they are already dead). Not much time to make it feel like an actual organization.
@urbanyouths are you tweaking off fent, how's she a kawaii lolicon? when she literally had her biggest character development at the end, seras held to her values until she lost someone she truly loved, the mid 2001 will stay a lesser version of the ultimate
Personaly i like to see the 2001 Version as "partially" canon. In the sense how some anime movies are "partially" canon to their respective series without actively beeing in the series. For me the 2001 series Was always a really nice view into the actual work of hellsing and the society. And it could fit. It runs parallel to the first two OVAs until the Valentine brothers raid the hellsing Villa. Luke gives his final hint. After that Burials build up and mercenary recruitment happens. Plus the time that Passes for Training (seras and wild geese even have an joint Camp). The whole icognito shenanigans could also fit into that time period. After that ova 3 would Start. Thats about how i usualy watch hellsing.
I really disliked the 2001 way of treating the organization. If you're going to have a clandestine organization that reports to the Queen, it makes sense not to keep the structure overly large like the series did.
You mention Sera's turning to meet Alexander in Ultimate in a single episode but in the '01 series, three yet you failed to include the episodes' runtimes are also different. In Ultimate, there is 10 50-minute episodes (an episode per volume) while the '01 series has 13 20-minute episodes following it's own unique story.
Ultimate is better. I love both of them, and to some extent I would consider some of the finer details added by Gonzo to be at least dubiously canon. But overall, Ultimate is just a better viewing experience.
2001, will always hold a special place in my heart, because I was feigning for more anime always when I was young kid. I only had so much access to different anime, because blockbuster only had a limited selection of anime to rent. Or back then you had to actually buy most of your anime on VHS to find new options. As a broke pre teen, that wasn’t an option for me. 2001, came out on one of the Starz channels back then. Such a great find as a kid!
I like both the same way I like FMA and Brotherhood. And apparently it's great that the original cast from 2001 reprised their rolls in Ultimate. I do wish that Alucard's theme was in Ultimate.
I have the 2001 anime series on DVD, and have seen Ultimate. The former made me want to write a crossover with Blood Blockade Battlefront as well, but I would want a writing partner for that.
I remember that my feelings on Ultimate, back in '06-'07 (maybe '08?), was that it felt like they spent entirely too much time gushing about how much larger of a budget they had E.G. all time spent on having the camera zoom in and run over the weapons etc. But then, I really loved Hellsing, and I wasn't a fan of (what felt like) 1-2 episodes a year (it took them 6 years to release the entire Ultimate series, I believe). It got really good towards the middle/end. But the start (IMO) felt weak. Edit: On another note, Hellsing is one of the few times the English dub was excellent and might, arguably, have been better than the Japanese version (I can't say anything about Ultimate as I haven't heard the English dub for it)!
Quick correction: Millennium is most definitely nane dropped and the Major is even shown a bit in 2001, the show just got cancelled before it could have its second season and, by extension, our fun "I love war!" speech.
not really that it was cancelled but cause the show added too much stuff that it can't do a second season without it being all original stuff since they can't use the manga stuff without reconing everything they added to the show cause of how the manga wasn't done
Watched the 2001 anime not long after it came out and loved it. So much so I was rather let down by Hellsing Ultimate. Sure the 3rd act in 2001 was...odd to say the least but Walter's betrayal kinda killed Ultimate for me.
So glad people are recognizing these both epic series. Plus, in a way it would cool to see a third new version of the Hellsing manga adapted into anime form with more focus on the organization and the tell of The Dawn within one series while having a new set of better looking art work then both 2001 tv series and Ultimate combined like a weird but kinda cool mixture of digital and traditional if people would like that.
I'm a fan of both, but I saw 2001 first and the mood and music--and Ferguson--tip the scales for me. Ultimate is more faithful to the manga--but I've never read the manga, and so the emphasis on blood and horror is less appealing (though the abridged version is /amazing/). 2001 is the one I rewatch most often--though I agree, in regards to "Alexander MF Anderson," it doesn't hold a candle to the remake!
I read the entirety of the hellsing manga first and tried watching the 2001 adap but i could not finish it, the person who let me borrow their mange then introduced me to a shady anime site and Hellsing ultimate and i was in love
thank you distinguishing the original series as a "detective" story. There is nothing to investigate when every bombastic foe is willingly throwing themselves at you
Gotta disagree. I like both, but 01 Hellsing had so much more depth. Ultimate is better for pure action, but in terms of depth and the quality of the characters i easily give it to 01 Hellsing
personally the only complaint i have about ultimate(i watched 2001 first then ultimate later) is the fast pace that didnt leave time for a lot of character exposure
I have watched hellsing ultimate and the abridged series multiple times. This 2001 series feels like a different universe. And I kinda want to watch LOL.
Since the 2001 show did aired at the time, I assume that it had restrictions on showing the blood and gore violence so instead it was pretty genius of the show to just make it seem like the ghouls and some vampires bled ashes when they get shot or killed.

First I love them both. Second, they exist the millennium in Hellsing 2001, but doing the way the anime goes live a detective thriller anime, it's just leaving that who they are airing around. And you can see the swastika in the vampire chips.
Helling Ultimate the only anime where the german voice acting is surperior to every other ( what is absolute not common) it fits the story even better for obvious reasons. "The Major Speech" Rip van Winkle´s singing, The voices in general what a perfect job they did
I watched hellsing 2001 in the early 2000s and loved it. Fast forward too 2023, i saw a dvd box set for hellsing (ultimate) and decided to buy and watch with my fiancé. I kept noticing differences but shrugged them off as decaying memories from decades ago. Then nazis come out of nowhere, along with theortical science cat boy and walter betrays integra! It was so confusing, and now i know why!
Hey the major was in the original tv show. But his screen of him was cut. It was in DVD features on one of the DVDs. It's called Hellsing Psalm of the darkness. The little 3 min video is set to music. It shows all the deleted scenes & different versions of scenes that was changed. Remembered the op.. will some of that was a post to be in the show. But was removed & the part with the cop girl about to licking the blade with blood on it .. well her master was talking to her & it's longer then what the final version showed in the op. The major was crapping (laughing too) aside his the doc & werewolf in a white room. The priest fight with alucarde had a different dynamic screen with he got stabbed up. And when the priest was laughing; the window behind him showed alucarde body impressed on top of the moon died. And a screen with alucarde head getting blown up too. There's other stuff too. But it's on 3 mins. You can Google it too watch it. Studio Gonzo made it. The DVD features unique animation that was not recycled in the television series.
Only oof on this video is pronunciation on Jan Valentine. The J has the Y sound making it Yan Valentine. But more importantly, I liked both series. Hellsing 01 is a nice mystery, I'm more into Hellsing Ultimate because it drops the mystery and go completely against the norm of vampire shows and stories which is the opposite of why i like Shiki that stays true to most Western vampire stories. I will say when it comes to separate anime versions, the best 2 in my opinion is Full Metal Alchemist.
I always thought the 2001 adaption was better (though unfinished). I do think Millenium would have showed up in 2001 if the show had continued. I'm not even convinced that Walter wouldn't have still turned out to be the traitor. The Valentine brothers make it clear they had someone way on the inside. Hellsing 2001 felt like a slow burn that got cancelled before the good part. Also, possibly just me, but I found Alucard far too chatty in Ultimate. Too me he's much more epic as a mostly silent, grinning figure who occasionally has outbursts of rage/excitement.
@@herbalyzoltan409 That's a bit disingenuous to the original work. Abridged is a good parody but it's still a parody, not the official work. Even TFS put a disclaimer at the beginning of each episode requesting viewers support the official release because without it there would be no parody to begin with.
You keep talking about how in 2001 show everything was fleshed out. Well, I remember it differently: it was cliche and boring. I cannot explain my relief than in Hellsing Ultimate Seras didn't have moral struggle about being a vampire. The world doesn't need yet a other "fish out of water" cliche. "Vampire nazis are overused" well, yes, but at least they are fun. I can't say the same about "secret organisation distributes a Thing that will make it's user feel on top of the world, but there is a price to pay", which, btw, is also overdone to death. Also, the ending of Hellsing 2001 was awful. Say what you want about Walter's betrayal, it is not NEARLY as WTF indusing as Incognito stuff. A classic gainax ending.
If i remember right, the Major appeared for a short moment in the 2001 version at the very end, like an marvel aftercredit scene. Maybe it was to tease for a second season that never came. In always tried to think of 2001 Hellsing as a prequel to Ultimate and of Incognito as the first threat Millennium throws at Alucard.
18:20 It is a testament to the flaws of 2001' that until you spelled it out right now, I had NO idea that this is what happened and how exactly Alucard defeated Incognito. It was always, basically "Fuck you, that's how", to me. OVA was definitely better with its exposition.
I’m not sure why the 2001 show is presented as so much better here. I just finished watching Hellsing 2001 and I watch Hellsing Ultimate once a few years ago, I’ve never read the manga. Incognito is so forgettable I almost called him enigma, Anderson and Maxwell aren’t important and while the Hellsing organization characters are cool in the 2001 version, they aren’t as interesting or memorable as pip is. With shorter episodes the expanded cast isn’t fleshed out and really that much in comparison to Ultimate’s. The biggest difference is the ending. Ultimate actually raps up the characters in good ways (I honestly don’t mind the betrayal) while in the 2001 version, the show kinda just ends. Who’s behind the chips or Incognito, doesn’t matter, want to see Seras embrace being a vampire, nope, there isn’t a conclusion or that much of a cliffhanger and all of our main characters are completely fine apart from an injured Walter making the huge show-down seem not nearly as tense as Ultimate’s version.
as both Hellsing are my favorite animes, i REALLY want to give my opnion here. But after reading a few comments and replies, i dont want to do that anymore. London will be destroyed again if i do.
The best Hellsing is Ova series. Because it does show, what is vampires look like. For the me the best episodes are Ova 7 and 8. Seeing Seras becoming true vampire and Alucard restraint Level 0. 2001 show, it wasn’t showing properly how Alucard is powerful and Seras becoming true vampire was lame in 2001. In Ova 7 becoming true vampire for Seras was more depth for the character and emotional.
Heresy alert I guess. Which camp do I fall in? I have watched both 2001 and Ultimate several times because I love Alucard. Regardless the camp I fall into is TFS's Hellsing Ultimate Abridged. TFS managed to draw out an underlying essense of every character that, once played out in the abridged, I found myself saying "Yes! That's what was always floating just beneath the characters in the og animes" And especially in the case of Alucard. TFS made Alucard just the fuckin best. Gave him personality qualities you didn't know were missing and didn't know you wanted till they played out in front of you in the glorious abridged. The abridged drove me out to get two beautiful tattoos of Alucard, one on each arm. Of course 2001, Ultimate, and the manga were how Alucard is, is supposed to be. But like I said: heresy. TFS abridged captured something that stirred my heart.
I watched the 2001 version in 2001. I only found out about the Ultimate version afew days ago when I rewatching the 2001 version so I watched it too. I like the 2001 version better.
Both are great but I think we all know the best version of Hellsing is Ultimate Abridged. For an actual reason other than haha funny swearing, I find the voice acting to be really well done
Have always seen Walter as a triple agent, The Major wanted Walter since WW2, now an old man, a former master hunter unable to take down a single vampire, a prefect candidate to be turned with the promise of eternal life… But once he had fallen, how trustworthy is he? Only one way, see how Sir Intega reacts to Walter “betrayal” The Captain would be able to tell Walter was fully turned when Integra heart’s near stops. Walter now “trusted” can get back into the lab and destroy the source of the artificial vampires at the cost of his life. Of which he accepts. If he had truly betrayed Intega he would have helped the doctor and the remains escape.
When I was a kid I tried downloading Helsing Ultimate which was still unfinished at the time and I accidentally downloaded the 2001 version. I watched the whole thing waiting to see the carnage from Helsing Ultimate. I was expecting nazis but they never came. I hated incognito as well. This was my first real experience with anime and I was dumb.
The soundtrack and score definitely have some scene a much more spooky feel. E Example, in Hellsing 01 When Alucard enters "control art restriction level 1) against Luke Valentine, the music and the shots was slower in the build up...I actually was intimidated by Alucard and a little afraid for Luke, up until Alucard started talking shit...then I started cracking up at how weak Luke was. The OVA version goes by so fast and is so clean in comparison, it's hard to say I felt any kind of intimidation at all

For me, the only thing the original had on Ultimate was the goddamned amazing soundtrack. It might be the greatest anime soundtrack of all time. Right there neck-in-neck with R.O.D.: Read or Die.
Personally ultimate i think is better here are my reasons: 1. It was literally the most tense and epic anime inhave watched 2. You can easily get attached to the main cast and wome supporting characters 3 pip bernadott 4 there is more to the series than the 2001 in content 5 and seras gets cool vampire powers
i dont like to compare anime's like to each other when clearly one is stated to be different for being "based on the manga" but i think that might be a result of being my generation as we learned due to the internet alot of are "shows" stories were diff due story or just dubing, guess i just look at lt like the dub vs sub. both can tell wild diff stories' with out changing the "show"
Ultimate is better than the original cuz it cuts out so much of the useless jargon that makes the original storyline such a bore. Despite what this talking head keeps saying Ultimate is just a better intro to the whole series for someone who has never read the books. A with Ultimate if you liked it enough then go for the deep dive of the original but Ultimate is well done cuz it’s short sweet and filled with imagery. The difference is simply this, the original bores you by telling you everything in great depth and detail. While the Ultimate’s performance decides that you are smart enough to draw your own conclusions an does more showing then telling you what is going on. It is as always up to the individual but I personally prefer to be treated as a adult and allowed to be shown not told what is going on.

It's barely noticeable, I mostly see Seras blond not red head.
@@artisticbang9111 true, that said, i think the blue uniform looks better on her, red head or blond.
Then it got topped by the Abridged
Incognito had no character, no personal motives. He was a plotdevice. Major on the other hand was perfect antagonist for Alucard.
@@metal87power I liked his powers and design but overall the anime story was forgetable
@@jdog2k4 I never watched that, I've seen some clips and didn't really like it
Nah, Ultimate was a simple gore fest, while the series tried to make it into a actual story.
Alucard has such a badass design
Hellsing 2001's "Psalms of Darkness" featured the Major so it's possible that he was intended to appear in that series at some point
The problem with Seras in the 2001 show, is that when she finally drinks blood (out of a soup bowl) nothing really changes about her.
In 2001, she could only become a full vampire if she drank from Alucard himself if I remember
I wouldn't say Walter's betrayal doesn't make sense. The original character wasn't bad, but OVA makes him more deep.
Hellsing ultimate is my favorite anime of all rime because it got me back into anime and I loved to mixture of 2d and 3d animations together
Even though I liked them both, 2001 had the best soundtrack which enhanced the action, Ultimate had the best overall story and action.
If memory severed me right, wasn't new dominion tank police shown right after or right before Hellsing was airing on Starz Encore Action back then
Millenium WAS in hellsing's original run, at the very end the major and one of his subordinates were in the art museam, they just weren't named
I like both the same way I like FMA and Brotherhood. And apparently it's great that the original cast from 2001 reprised their rolls in Ultimate. I do wish that Alucard's theme was in Ultimate.
Honestly, I always thought that at the end of 2001 Alucard was not revealed as og Dracula, but Christ himself as first vampire
I thought he said he was Vlad Tepes and became a vampire when he drank blood from the battlefield when he was dying, or something.
I have the 2001 anime series on DVD, and have seen Ultimate.
The former made me want to write a crossover with Blood Blockade Battlefront as well, but I would want a writing partner for that.
Have the 2001 on VHS box set!!!
that’s badass
Me 2!
And no reference that the 2001 series had the much better sound track....
Its kind of wierd as a show ultimate is way better but the 2001 the feeling is just unbeat
There is nothing to investigate when every bombastic foe is willingly throwing themselves at you
both version are very great
Ultimate is the goat
They didn’t joke with the “Ultimate” label
Gotta disagree. I like both, but 01 Hellsing had so much more depth. Ultimate is better for pure action, but in terms of depth and the quality of the characters i easily give it to 01 Hellsing
personally the only complaint i have about ultimate(i watched 2001 first then ultimate later) is the fast pace that didnt leave time for a lot of character exposure
I actually liked both, as both had their charm
I have watched hellsing ultimate and the abridged series multiple times. This 2001 series feels like a different universe. And I kinda want to watch LOL.
Since the 2001 show did aired at the time, I assume that it had restrictions on showing the blood and gore violence so instead it was pretty genius of the show to just make it seem like the ghouls and some vampires bled ashes when they get shot or killed.
I just started rewatching both of these perfect timing! 😍
I watched both. I think they complimented each other. If you only watch one you are mssing certain aspect of it.
There is a Prequel Manga Where 50 years prior young Walter teams up with Alucard to take down the Major at the first major Vampire testing site. It's this event that literally triggers the events of Hellsing in the main manga.
First I love them both. Second, they exist the millennium in Hellsing 2001, but doing the way the anime goes live a detective thriller anime, it's just leaving that who they are airing around. And you can see the swastika in the vampire chips.
The God damn soundtrack was one of the biggest differences for me. That and Anderson and Walter. I freaking love that music.
Hellsing 2001 is the onl, once. I never forget when i saw the first episode 🎉 Gonzo made such a good job on this ❤
loving the Hellsing videos
Seras „plot“ became bigger
That may all be true. But I'm still more into the ultimate version. Ultimate is just to good for me^^
Helling Ultimate the only anime where the german voice acting is surperior to every other ( what is absolute not common) it fits the story even better for obvious reasons. "The Major Speech" Rip van Winkle´s singing, The voices in general what a perfect job they did
Kouta's main goal with Helsing was cool gunfights and badass vampires
Yes and what a great goal to have
I watched hellsing 2001 in the early 2000s and loved it.
Both are amazing but i still love tfs version the most 😂
Tfs version is hilarious
Hellsing Ultimate and Hellsing Abridged is the one and ONLY anime Ive EVER watched, now after watching this I wanna watch the OG Hellsing.
We need More of this Great Anime, Soon!!!
I agree.
Or we can read a Hellsing fan fiction that’s close to a continuation.
I’m in the camp of Hellsing Ultimate because TFS abridged it😂
2001 ost is sooooo good man.
Personally I liked Hellsing ultimate a lot better cuz it was really really close to the manga
all i can say is i love both shows
Only oof on this video is pronunciation on Jan Valentine.
This video is making me realize I’ve mainly watched Hellsing Abridged and never properly finished Ultimate!
Abridged is superior anyways, you didn't miss much.
@@herbalyzoltan409 I can believe that, I’d assume it’s the same with Sword Art Online and SAO Abridged!
Watched 2001 thinking ultimate was just season 2 so was very confused why every ep seemed to just be a weird half recap
Awesome video. Your voice sounds awfully familiar. Do you also run another channel for comics?
I honestly refer the 2001 Hellsing anime because I like the way the characters back story was fleshed out plus I like the horror detective genre.
The OVAs are still the best tho.
its like Fullmetal Alchemist and Brotherhood. one went their owm way, and the other was closer to the manwha.
The 2003 version was better in my opinion.
The original Hellsing was like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Less gore but something about it just go’s hard
I've seen both. I love both versions of Hellsing
In Hellsing 2001 vs Hellsing Ultimate, the real winner is none of them, but Hellsing Ultimate Abridged.
Amen!
Ultimate. It's all in the title baybe
Have always seen Walter as a triple agent, The Major wanted Walter since WW2, now an old man, a former master hunter unable to take down a single vampire, a prefect candidate to be turned with the promise of eternal life…
But once he had fallen, how trustworthy is he?
Only one way, see how Sir Intega reacts to Walter “betrayal” The Captain would be able to tell Walter was fully turned when Integra heart’s near stops.
Walter now “trusted” can get back into the lab and destroy the source of the artificial vampires at the cost of his life.
Of which he accepts.
If he had truly betrayed Intega he would have helped the doctor and the remains escape.
I started hellsing from 2001 version
later i watched ultimate so i was shocked how much different they are
When I was a kid I tried downloading Helsing Ultimate which was still unfinished at the time and I accidentally downloaded the 2001 version. I watched the whole thing waiting to see the carnage from Helsing Ultimate. I was expecting nazis but they never came. I hated incognito as well.
This was my first real experience with anime and I was dumb.
The 2001 anime feels like a horror movie
The soundtrack and score definitely have some scene a much more spooky feel. E
Example, in Hellsing 01
When Alucard enters "control art restriction level 1) against Luke Valentine, the music and the shots was slower in the build up...I actually was intimidated by Alucard and a little afraid for Luke, up until Alucard started talking shit...then I started cracking up at how weak Luke was. The OVA version goes by so fast and is so clean in comparison, it's hard to say I felt any kind of intimidation at all
Was there supposed to be more of 2001 at some point? Maybe Millennium would have been the second season antagonist?
I think Hellsing (2001) is set in it's own continuity.
I love both 🥰✌️
I like Hellsing ultimate because it has alucard and seras and it tells a good story i also like alucard back story how he became a vampire if had to choose between alucard or seas I chose alucard over wanter any time of the day I think you should read the Hellsing books in order and please tell me what is your favorite character from Hellsing ultimate 21:43
Hellsing organization - Integra, Alucard, Butler, and Ceras... and a lot of disposable meat bags.
And then there's the TFS abridged series, which out did both in my opinion
Both are definitely worth your time
For me, the only thing the original had on Ultimate was the goddamned amazing soundtrack. It might be the greatest anime soundtrack of all time. Right there neck-in-neck with R.O.D.: Read or Die.
Personally ultimate i think is better here are my reasons:
1. It was literally the most tense and epic anime inhave watched
2. You can easily get attached to the main cast and wome supporting characters
3 pip bernadott
4 there is more to the series than the 2001 in content
5 and seras gets cool vampire powers
plus anderson matters more in ultimate then just the few fights he has in OG hellsing and on how far hes willing to go to murder alucard
i dont like to compare anime's like to each other when clearly one is stated to be different for being "based on the manga" but i think that might be a result of being my generation as we learned due to the internet alot of are "shows" stories were diff due story or just dubing, guess i just look at lt like the dub vs sub. both can tell wild diff stories' with out changing the "show"
The Biggest Differences Between Hellsing 2001 and Hellsing Ultimate was missing: the colour of Seras Uniform. ))
Fair to say: The OVA is literally the manga animated!
I don't like detective stuff ^^
It is as always up to the individual but I personally prefer to be treated as a adult and allowed to be shown not told what is going on.
while i much perfer FMA original to brotherhood- i am very split and enjoy both hellsings equaliy
The whole thing with Walter was from a companion manga
