- In this dead mall tour, I attempt to use footage provided by a viewer of the channel to share some of my thoughts about Oviedo Mall in Oviedo, Florida. We'll also take a look at the INCREDIBLE neon lighting of the Ovideo Mall Regal Theatre.

Because I'd never been there, I found it really challenging to put together a story about the place. Fortunately, this struggle led me to be able to express something about the dead mall community at large... It may not be quite what you're used to from the channel, but I hope you'll enjoy.

I lived in Oviedo for a few years, and had a great time at this mall. The theater was on the second floor and loved it. It offered hope back when America had hope. Ancient history now. R.I.P. U.S.A.
Think it's the same story with a lot of malls - a lot of people, for all sorts of reasons, just aren't interested in going anymore.
The theater is still there.
@@tph2010 - Cool! The best years for me were from '96 to '05, having lived in Beacon Hill. I saw The Mummy and the House on Haunted Hill there. Great memories. Wish I could go back.
This mall was a childhood staple of mine. So many memories trick or treating, exploring stores, eating at the chick fil a in the food court, and even seeing movies at the regal
I’ve gotta say, this mall is super nice! I especially love the neon signs, a lot going on! Lots of different machines, too. Like you said, there must be a lot of stories in this place!
I LOVED THE NEON IN THE THEATER!!! This mall is one of my favorite malls and I have never been to it!!!
Thanks so very much for this wonderful video!!!! Take care and thanks again!!!! 👍🏻😬
Thanks Michelle! Yes, I'd love to see all that neon lit up after dark...
Something terrible did happen. They built a bland strip mall with no personality across the street anchored with a Marshalls and a Sprouts. GNC now lives there.
that music is the absolute business
Hell yeah! Couldn't resist a bit of darkwave...I just wish the top speed was a bit faster on those scooters, haha.
They went a lot faster in 2003.
I love the neon in the Regal Cinema. It's hard to believe that that's owned by Cineworld who just believe in black rooms with red stars.
Yup. It's, err, shall we say...just a little more aesthetic than the typical Cineworld cinema.
The neon in the cinema was the best part! Wonder what the architect was thinking, though. All the storefronts looked the same...
Agreed! Bet it would look great in the pitch black if all the other mall lights were turned off. The mall is kind of a funny shape too, almost like a flower.
So this was the last mall put up by Jim Rouse of the Rouse company. He was a major player in malls and "festival marketplaces" If that theater ever closes, that mall is doomed.
Interesting stuff! Not familiar with the Rouse company, but good tidbit 🙂
@@DeadMallWalking The three biggest developers over here were Rouse, Simon, and DeBartolo. You should look them up. If you wiki "The Rouse Company" you'll see the list he developed. He had sold my hometown on a downtown marketplace that was essentially an instant failure.
This is my mall it really isn’t SO bad with its deadness. Really you should have gone on a rainy day and seen all the buckets out 🤣💧🪣😂
You know what killed the malls the internet shopping!
I hear DKC music 👀
No link to the original footage?
As requested by the person who filmed and sent me it 🙂
