- It's the real deal! This was one of the most fun videos I've ever put together. A complete saga from the initial purchase of this unique vehicle, test starting the engine, and an interview with a former AM General employee who was able to tell detailed history. A huge thank you to Mr. Williams for all his help on this endeavor.

What a wealth of freaking knowledge. Thanks for taking the time to capture this for future generations 🙏.
Very cool.
Your luck in meeting the very well spoken former employee was remarkable!
That was a great video. I loved the history on that rig. Thanks for doing what you do. I love these old jeeps. My dad has one that burnt up in a shop fire in 2003. Starting to clean it up. It’s going to need most everything. But that Jeep has some family history, so i am going to bring it back and pass it down to my son someday.
I appreciate that you fact checked and it was cool to hear his story. I worked with a guy that was employed by the checker cab company, they had a 4 wheel steer “Jeep” that checker built for the military but it was never approved or accepted So they kept it and used it in the factory as a maintenance vehicle because it could get around easily because it was 4 wheel steer. I would love to hear from other guys if this story is accurate.
Hello it’s Ritch, Sadly this summer we lost both Robert Elkins and Chuck Dadlow. And last month the Youngest Manager that I worked with at AM passed also. There aren’t many of the folks I worked with left.
That’s a wild coincidence you crossed paths with someone who could validate the story!
what a cool piece of history! I would love to sit down with that guy and hear all his AMG stories
I went to a few DRMO auctions at Fort Ord in the early 1990s and they had plenty of HMMUWV and a few M151 for sale, all roughly torch cut (demil) into sections and strapped to pallets.
my dad worked at AM general in the bus division and my schwinn bike was painted in the shop that same red color.
My good friend was an MP in Germany in the 70's. He told me that he answered more then one call of soldiers flipping it and getting killed.
Can you ask the AM General gentlemen to share the status of the factory toolings to make the M151A2 after the termination of production ? Like those stamp machines to make the tub etc... That would be of great value to the M151A2 community. Thank you very much.
Neat video, thanks for sharing!
Super cool! Thanks for the research. So interesting. :-)
I would love to buy this one if I had the money to spend to get it damn
Looks cool, great video 👍
I would love that cause i was a fireman
I wish you weren’t selling it and we’re doing a complete restoration on it.
Me too, but I'd like to focus restoration and research efforts on my APU Jeeps.
@@TurnNBurn hopefully the new owner will make videos of the restauration
That thing is pretty sweet!!
Great video.
Man its a shame that most of the fire fightung equipment from that jeep
Is gone that was what made this jeep historically important
I hope that whoever wound up with it makes an attempt to put it back to the way it was
New owner got it up and running, but it's currently for sale.
@@TurnNBurn im probably fooling myself but how much are they asking for it
@@GeorgiaRidgerunner Currently listed at $10,500 but I'm sure you can purchase it cheaper. Send me an email to turnandburncontact@gmail.com and I can forward you the contact information.
I'm thinking about the weight of the water tank, the pump, the hose reel, the extended body and the weight of the guys in the jump seats on that little 151
There is a guy in Ohio who has a bunch of the Studebaker Deuce and a halfs.
He's a good guy
The Russians called all the big trucks they got from us 'US-6' bc they were all straight six motors. The Studes and the Ford 'Jail bar' trucks went to russia in huge numbers
👍
Whats going on with the FD RX7?
Waiting for the engine. First well known shop in Maryland took my money and ran for 8 months. Onto the second now.
Interesting, where can I find a Flat fender willy's jeep?, I'd love to own one.🇺🇸✌️
You know Dennis Collins will pay you top dollar for that
No, Dennis is a Jeep purist. This is the bastard stepchild of aJeep. I say that with love. The M151 series are my passion and livelihood.
Did you ever get that old picture ?
I did not
@@TurnNBurn 2bad
If you get a chance ask him what Xerox was doing at AM General
Providing copiers and contractual maintenance for them I am sure
I was what was called an XFM Manager. XEROX Facilities Manager. With a very interesting contract.
I serviced machines, and managed a small print/copy facility
I can’t tell you How many Arabic M998 service manuals and parts books I printed but skids worth!
Is there any Update?
New owner resold it pretty quick. Not sure what happened after that
@@TurnNBurn so sorry to hear. Nice vehicle with a Nice story.
I have a lot of parts for any old jeep. Let me know if you need parts!
А вы в США разве не знаете что? Во время Второй Мировой Войны Вы нам поставляли Студебейкеры, Доджи 3/4, Виллисы и ещё что-то.
А ещё интересней Вы их забирали у нас после ВМВ.
