The Nature of Fly Fishing: Decoding Biology for Angling Success is a short print book (with accompanying digital media) that explains many of fly fishing's mysteries using ecology, behavioural and evolutionary biology.
Written by Dr Paul Gaskell - a lifelong angler and professional freshwater biologist, this is a book for those who have to understand "Why".
It is not about lists of dry facts - it is about ideas and how to apply them to your fishing and your appreciation of nature.

Hi Paul, I want to say thanks, what a phenomenal amount of inormation you have given over the years. I have just this year discovered an interest in fly fishing, primarily tenkara. I was looking to buy your book fooling trout with simple flies. I'm on a very tight budget and can't afford both books. If you were to buy one, which would you recommend? I'm sure in time I will own both!

I would probably go with "How to Fool Fish" initially as it has a lot more tenkara-specific stuff and practical application. The Nature of Fly Fishing is more about how to see the natural world and some of the underlying "rules" that control what fish, insects and rivers do. Very best wishes and many thanks for your kind feedback. Paul.

Hi Ben - my apologies; the settings for the "countdown timer" for pre-order copies of the first print run had locked the page when it hit zero. I've now reset it - and while the signed/numbered pre-order copies aren't available there are links on that page to regular copies via Amazon. Sorry for the frustration and thanks for flagging up the issue. Paul
