This is amazing. No wonder she is still a famous name, and had a great success. Also amazing is the thought that we can listen to recording a hundred and fifteen years old! The gramophone has given us such valuable and worthwhile performances from a time well beyond living memory! Reviews of the time can really only give an idea how fine an artists is in terms relative to the standards of the day. Not much can really be imagined beyond that singer X or player Y was a significant musician of the day. Recordings, whilst not being as technically brilliant as newer ones, give a huge insight into the real style and quality ... Thanks and best wishes from George
Her voice and technique are sublime (the unequal registers don't bother me at all). The music, however, is sublimely silly. I think I first heard this piece on a Bugs Bunny cartoon and can't get that out of my head.

Thanks George. All agreed!!
Hyperbolic, brilliant, dazzling, simply ... Tetrazzini!
@@pietrodi1 Thanks. Yes, certainly one of a kind!
Brilliant !
I always find it interesting that acoustic recordings could capture the voice so well. Thanks, as ever.
Agreed!
In this recording the openess of the throat is so clear, no squeeky sound, not even in the highest range

@@Stanvansandt "Sublimely silly" is probably a good description: but she certainly enjoys herself!
@@vintagesounds3878 As did I. I love your channel by the way - so glad I discovered it.
@Stanvansandt Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy it.
