I won $200.00 at a slot machines at the casino. The next day I went to Guitar Center and bagged the Pacifica 112. Because my hands are slightly large, the neck size is just right and also, it plays great! Excellent guitar for the budget-minded players.
I picked up one of these secondhand for $100 Canadian which translates to about $70 U.S. I bought it because I'm a Tele guy, and I wanted to try out a Strat. I was thinking of maybe checking out the 112V with the Alnico pickups as my next guitar. I'd say the 112J is a decent guitar, but it ain't no classic vibe IMHO. It definitely is more comparable to my Affinity Tele. The neck on my Affinity is in my opinion a better neck. The neck on the Pacifica is a little flatter than I would like. Plus my Affinity has a maple fretboard which I prefer. I'd say the tremolo is garbage. It pulls the guitar badly out of tune. I've had the same issue with every Strat I have ever tried. I hate playing a guitar when its out of tune, so I took my tremolo arm off and put it in the case, where it stays. For some reason the tuners on my Pacifica are really hard to turn. The tuners on my affinity Tele are much smoother and easier to use. My Pacifica has a natural wood body, with a clear satin finish. I wish I liked it, but it's made out of four pieces of wood with very different grain and color, and that makes it look cheap. If I bought another Pacifica I'd stay away from the natural finish. Another complaint is the way the humbucker is mounted is nuts. It actually swivels. On the 112V the pickguard goes around the humbucker and the humbucker is mounted directly to the body like on a Les Paul. I assume that's the fix to this problem. I do really like the two-knob setup on the Pacifica as opposed to the three-knob setup on a Fender/Squier Strat. The 112J is a pretty decent beginner level guitar but if I were buying one new I would cough up the extra money for the 112V, for the sake of the Alnico pickups, the better mounting for the humbucker, a maple fretboard, and hopefully a better overall level of quality.
7.6 ounces, that's roughly 7 in a half. that's nearly identical to a real Fender. I have this guitar it's not that heavy, it has a little bit bigger fret radius than the Squier Affinity.

I've always wanted to test one of those Pacifica models, everyone says that they are great for the money. You can't never go wrong with Yamaha!
