Depends on the point of the program, to be fair. If it's a kind of recycling campaign to get used digital cameras off the market so they could be recycled instead of gathering dust in drawers, no problem. If they intend to sell them on, however...
Be more specific with promotions? No this is the entire point in the promotion. Do you really think gopro is hiring a crazy staff to resell these? They still make great profit selling their cameras with a $100 discount and their marketing promotion clearly worked (as we all watch a video about it)

Some older oppo phones and the samsung a80 have it
IMO it's a terrible idea. It adds complexity, moving parts and failure points for a gimmicky feature. I prefer to have a dedicated camera because of the larger, higher quality sensor and lenses, but that's just my personal preference.

So, saying "The one with the evil sisters and the stepmother" can literally ONLY describe Cinderella. It's just a discount. I'm not saying it's not a good deal but companies give discounts all the time. The only difference with this one is you get to recycle some old junk. (even the components in a shitty camera are worth something). Better than chucking it in landfill.

Interesting story - I own a GoPro only because I won it out of a "Keymaster" arcade machine at CiCi's Pizza. I actually won a Kindle directly after that too and gave it away to someone. Those machines are rigged but I managed to get it at just the right time I think.

Yeah likely reuse the materials the same way all those mobile phone recycling programs do it, which is namely for the metals
They will take a completely broken and not working camera. I doubt they will spend the time to test if the cameras work or not, so I am guessing they will just be recycled.

@@austinedeclan10 They're a pretty big company, they could just research cameras and then... buy therm. Having people send them in would be more of a pain then a boon considering people probably won't send in the latest stuff. Plus they can't use any patented technology either, so even if they reverse engineer it... it wouldn't matter.

I honestly think they'll just dispose of them. Actually going through all of them and assessing them would be a lot of work, and thus cost them a lot of money.
Making customers send them their old electronics is more to make the offer a bit bothersome, so not too many customers will actually do it.
