Very nice studio! Thanks for this video, from my very tiny humble home bedroom hobby studio in Scarborough Ontario, Canada. I'll admit to a wee tad of jealousy when it comes to your marvelous collection of toys
The clientele (especially film work) would justify every penny spent. I worked at an 8 room facility 28 years ago that was booked 24/7 that just broke even annually. This business model requires techs, assistants, runners & real engineers. The point of going to proper studio like this would be for the acoustics & top tier equipment.
Ah . . . the background is interesting. I've been collecting gear for decades, since the age when Pultecs and Neves when regarded as too old fashioned and thrown in skips. When my original small studio closed, I came across a space that ticked all the right boxes - easy load in, no neighbours and the kind of space I wanted. So the idea was really to build the kind of studio I wanted to house my gear, rather than a commercial facility. Marco came on board to supervise the build, I blagged favours from friends and people I knew in the industry and some superb technicians but it was to all intents and purposes a self-build. But we didn't cut corners so it eventually cost (very low) six figures, but probably a tenth of what a similar studio would have cost from a firm of studio builders (and better quality behind the infrastructure too; it's no compromise). I had no idea how popular the place would be, and to be honest burst out laughing when we won the Music Producers Guild Studio of The Year award (alongside Abbey Road, Air, RAK etc). So yeah, I'm proud, awestruck by Marcos talent in project managing and then running/engineering and modestly big-headed that we've achieved what we did on a relative shoestring; the cost of a high-end Merc or Beamer. That's still a pile of bucks, mind, but as a poster here says, it's proved a great investment (though the ethos of the place is to make 'musical' records, not turn a buch). Thanks to everyone for their kind comments.
You would NEVER get me out of there. Especially with them vocals from the singer? Truly stunning
Excellent 👌🏼The "Revox" tape recorder expresses the essence of your idea of warm music.
I've never been to Snap (one day 🤞) but can attest that Marco is a proper sound Bradford lad 😎
This studio is stunning and you guys seems to be very passionate, awesome!
Beautiful studio guys! Cheers from Arizona, USA!
