Just in case you haven't looked, the covers you showed may match the cover less books you have. The back covers may match also. Easy to tell by matching the colors on the spine. Enjoyed seeing the books.
Can’t wait to follow you on this journey. It’s great that you know what you want to keep like Superman. Have fun and collect what you like but having a direction and goals can help keep you focused. Allan is a wealth of knowledge and a great contact!
I definitely love the Superman and wonder woman. I’m keeping any and all books that my grandfather signed or initialed on the cover. So cool it’s like a blast in the past of when he was a kid. He told me to sell them all hahah that I won’t do. I’m excited to go down the journey and soak in as much knowledge as I can.
Very cool! I've been getting back into comics recently and have enjoyed Alan's channel as well. That's a cool connection with you and your grandpa. Can't wait to see what's in that collection.
Wow, I'm so jealous, but more so than the comics...you being able to talk to your grandfather about his history with these comics and that he wanted to share that piece of his legacy with you. That's really something.
Alan and Collecto 06 seem like awesome guys. The Disney Parade you had doubles of is labeled as the first cover appearance of Uncle Scrooge. The other one you have doesn't show any key significance but is the next issue in that series. Excited to see how the room turns out!!
Had another thought about displaying....J channel and top loaders. As long as that window is eliminated... The stuff is cheap, doesn't look trashy and easy to work with. As long as you make a template that is five eighths of an inch taller than the top loaders, they easily lift in and out to switch em out. Good for entire wall, floor to ceiling or just strips for certain runs and such. Works exactly the same for the graded stuff. Just figured I'd drop a line brutha...best of luck and can't wait to see which direction you take with the room!
Hey thank you for the comment and for watching! I’m excited to learn all about each and every comic I have it will be fun for sure and I’m looking forward to sharing that experience!
There's maybe a chance that CGC could recognize your collection as pedigree given the story behind it, definitely look into that, and good luck in all your future comic adventures!
The Tomahawk "The Black Cougar" is Star Spangled 113, This story is penciled by the great Frank Frazetta and is considered a classic. You know probably the best thing that you can do is have someone with a good working knowledge of golden age books to go through them with you and highlight what you actually have (maybe your grandfather already did this). Someone who is really passionate about these types of books may be able to really spark a passion in you for these books. Don't talk to someone who is only concerned with monetary value find someone who can educate you in the history and importance of these books.
That’s my hope with this channel! Is to learn as much as possible some people have incredible amounts of knowledge on these it seems! Super excited to learn and continue to go through these! Thanks for the info!
Definitely, definitely bag and board those books! Handle with care because you can easily rip or bend covers and pages. You can learn a lot from Alan the Comic Geek RUclips channel as well as other comic channel. You are so lucky to inherit a collection of these wonderful iconic comics! Looking forward to see future videos. 👍
Don't throw anything out, there are collectors of all sorts out there, some are looking for covers only, some may be looking for a missing page or two, some collect coverless comics etc. It's a very interesting hobby.
Back in the day newsstands would send in their unsold issues for refund. That's why the top of that Journey into Mystery was cut off like that. Marvel was saving on shipping by only wanting the top of the front cover sent in as proff the issue was tossed. Obviously those issues weren't all tossed as they were suposed to be.
Don't assume they are "all complete" without making sure all the pages are there. There are a different number of pages for different issues. Especially in the golden age. Make use of "Grand Comics Database" to find the proper page count.
@@Pocketsfullofcomics For golden age info, there are two channels I have seen that might be helpful for you, Pop Comics, and Automatic Comics. Lunchbox is good too.
You are welcome. It was fun to go through the collection. I mentioned it in my live stream. The Parade book is the 1st cover appearance of Scrooge. The remainder copy of Journey 24 goes for about $15-20. I'm glad I could help.
2 things , the catalog of all the comic books with the prices. There are people who collect those, especially if they are nice shape. And they're that old. You probably will get $20-30 for something like that more it was abig dealer . Second, the ripped off cover goes to the star-spangled comic book with no cover that said Tomahawk on the 1st page . Red Ryder is probably the back cover . It probably isn't extremely valuable but it seems to have all the pieces so it will have some .
Dell Walt Disney Vacation Parade 1951 #2 July 1951 art by Al Hubbard 9.2 went for $807 - in good shape they go for about 250 this is the first cover appearance of Uncle Scrooge Dell Walt Disney Vacation Parade #3 - not a key printed in July 1952 great for Dell collectors in bad shape 10 - 30 That Rusty #15 in 9.0 condition goes for 700 in that shape it’s probably worth around 100 graded or 40 raw, It’s a Timely book published in Nov 1947 Scripts by Stan Lee, art by Harvey Kurtzman - classic cheesecake Journey Into Mystery Vol 1 24 April 30 1955 edited by Stan Lee - back in the day if a book was damaged in shipping the comic book shops (to save on shipping) would tear off the label and ship that back to the printer for a refund the rest of the book was supposed to thrown out but they would usually sell it at a discount as a reader - that’s in rough shape Cowboy Western Comics #25 Nov 1949 James Craig cover he was a massive Western Film Star from the 30’s to the 60’s -having said that it’s a Charlton book with cover detached so not worth all that much The missing cover is Classics Illustrated #2 March 1947 - I think - we would need to check the year to figure out if it’s a first print - unfortunately classic illustrated don’t sell for much esp without the cover - nice art Western Fighters vol 2 #5 - April 1949 - Hillman publishing - that book is a ghost, don’t think it’s ever been graded, great cover - western Horror Tom & Jerry Comics #70 - May 1950 - Dell comics it’s in rough shape Tomahawk 139 - DC Comics - April 1972 - I don’t know about the rest of the book but that first page is drawn by Frank Frezetta which automatically makes it at least somewhat valuable
Holy wow! Best comment ever I sure appreciate the time you took here! This is the info I’m looking to soak in for sure! I’m going to have to look into that western horror book a bit I love the thought of having the only graded book (if I grade it!) kinda neat! Thanks for the info on that torn cover too that’s an interesting thing. I wonder how often the books with torn labels didn’t actually get tossed I’d imagine that’s a pretty common thing since it’s still perfectly readable!
@@Pocketsfullofcomics yep those 1/4 torn labels are everywhere no one likes to throw away books, hey let me know when you're going to do your next shoot I actually really enjoy looking up books - it's May 4th so happy star wars/free comic book day - gotta go hunting
New sub here. Looking forward to checking out the collection. Cannot wait. Let’s #growtogether and would appreciate a sub back. I’ll take the junk binder. Hahaha.
I think it’s awesome you got your grandfathers collection. It’s definitely in good hands. Good luck with the room revamp and look forward to more videos!

Awesome collection! Thanks for sharing the video! Just stumbled onto your channel, new subscriber! Looking forward to more great videos!
Happy to have you! Uploading another video right now!
The coverless Tomahawk may be Frank Frazetta art as it looks a lot like his art work for Edgar Rice Burroughs novel “the Rider”. Check it out.
I’ll do some research thanks!
Adventure into electricity was a promo giveaway most like through general electric, worth keeping
That’s good to know! I think just because of this comment I’ll read that one tonight

No mater how bad of condition a book is, treat it as part of the collection.
That’s what I’m learning and I will for sure from here on out!

very nice! always looking for popeye books.
There’s a handful of them in here!
Good beard!

keep on ., 10 comics at a time. i would think publisher. maybe ?

Very cool and good to know I have kept that binder but was unsure of what went where!
Please don’t practice pressing on these books! If you have to use the western or war books.
I’ll probably start with the low value westerns for sure
Are you selling Jackie comics?
How did you get into my basement?
Dog let me in :)
Can I have the so called junk? 😂
😂😂😂
Do you have any Shadow comics?
Unfortunately that’s not one I remember seeing within the collection
Dell Walt Disney Vacation Parade 1951 #2 July 1951 art by Al Hubbard 9.2 went for $807 - in good shape they go for about 250 this is the first cover appearance of Uncle Scrooge
Dell Walt Disney Vacation Parade #3 - not a key printed in July 1952 great for Dell collectors in bad shape 10 - 30
That Rusty #15 in 9.0 condition goes for 700 in that shape it’s probably worth around 100 graded or 40 raw, It’s a Timely book published in Nov 1947 Scripts by Stan Lee, art by Harvey Kurtzman - classic cheesecake
Journey Into Mystery Vol 1 24 April 30 1955 edited by Stan Lee - back in the day if a book was damaged in shipping the comic book shops (to save on shipping) would tear off the label and ship that back to the printer for a refund the rest of the book was supposed to thrown out but they would usually sell it at a discount as a reader - that’s in rough shape
Cowboy Western Comics #25 Nov 1949 James Craig cover he was a massive Western Film Star from the 30’s to the 60’s -having said that it’s a Charlton book with cover detached so not worth all that much
The missing cover is Classics Illustrated #2 March 1947 - I think - we would need to check the year to figure out if it’s a first print - unfortunately classic illustrated don’t sell for much esp without the cover - nice art
Western Fighters vol 2 #5 - April 1949 - Hillman publishing - that book is a ghost, don’t think it’s ever been graded, great cover - western Horror
Tom & Jerry Comics #70 - May 1950 - Dell comics it’s in rough shape
Tomahawk 139 - DC Comics - April 1972 - I don’t know about the rest of the book but that first page is drawn by Frank Frezetta which automatically makes it at least somewhat valuable
