I did used commercial yogurt with active cultures and unbleached all-purpose flour as you indicated in your "Easy Sourdough Starter". As early as the four day's morning after starring the process my starter had more that double its size. Thank you for your guidance.
Regarding mold…This is one the most information packed videos I have come across concerning all the different paths mold can take to invade sourdough starter! I didn’t even consider there could be reasons my starter was failing that I couldn’t control. We live in an old farmhouse, the battle with mold is REAL!!!
You’re such a good informational teacher! I love baking and love making artisan breads, I have seen other whom aren’t in the home showing how to do it as you are, nor are they as informative. Thank you so much! I just found and subscribed to you, I will enjoy watching all your other video posts. I grew up with a garden and had one about 10 yrs ago, I will in the future again one day too!!!
I started mine on Tuesday and it was perfect by Saturday. I was very careful to follow each step! This will be my first time making sourdough starter, I have made other breads in the past. Thanks
OMGoodness it's the next morning my dough rises and I seasoned my pan so I'm thinking the room was too cold and I prayed over it this was my first attempt at making sourdough thank you so much I think o love you
It went flat when I picked it up to put in the pan so fingers cross lol if it doesn't raise in the oven it's bread for stuffing I live in the city they won't let me have chickens
Thanks for this follow up. I hadn’t had a chance to try this yet, so it’s good to go in with that little of more info! God bless you in all that you do!!
I am going to start my sourdough journey soon! I appreciate all the information that I have gotten from you. What are your thoughts on the Brod & Taylor sourdough home?
I made my starter last sunday with organic spelt flour and coco yoghurt 97% and live yoghurt cultures from Abott Kinney's and it is already bubbling in kitchen 19,5 but covered it with a towel.
After watching your other video, I pinched my nose and jumped into the deep end. I've got an active starter! It's just me and my hubby and we are not big bread eaters and i figure it would be a loaf every 2 weeks. I need to experiment on keeping it going with long periods between using and actually making a bread.
If you use the cultured buttermilk and you end up needing water in a few days, is it okay to put water? Cos I know you had said skip the water step when first making the starter when using buttermilk. Thanks!
I used the jovial einkorn unbleached organic all purpose flour and king author unbleached organic flour my starter was the einkorn and buttermilk cultured the starter was good in 3 days but the bread has not rising yet
For me my starter did great it's foamed over the top of the vessel it's on twice but the bread has not raised the dough I mean it's 12 hours later and it's just sitting there
Mine wasnt going very good so on day 5 I added more flour/water and dayv6 it looked beautiful but then checked it again day 7 it was quite moldy. Disappointed but I'll just start over and tend to it daily.
My first 2 tries failed, I thought I followed your steps. It seemed to start well and then it just stopped bubbling and grew mold. I've given up for now. 😢
I used King Arthur whole wheat and didn't even add any culture just mixed 1:1 ratio flour and water. Covered with a cloth and it's day 3 and is very active.
lol that’s funny, what money? We have been offer big ministries that can pay but have refused them to keep our small family church open in a poor community that can’t afford to support us. So my husband works 5 jobs, runs a business, Pastors, and I do RUclips teaching videos for a living and most of what we make goes back to take care of poor kids and families in the church and community. If you are referring to the “studio”, I built it myself (with the good Lord’s help) for less than $300. So our youth could reach their generation on the stoical media platforms that they frequent.

Once again excellent information! On my second try and 3rd day and realize I need to move my starter. Thank you!

My house is very cool, like 59°F. Will that be ok? I don't have any constant warm spots neither...
Put it on top of your fridge. Fridge generates heat.

Can someone give me some good brands of flour to buy and where to buy from. Thank you!
King Arthur brand is all I will use unless it's Einkorn.
I used King Arthur whole wheat and didn't even add any culture just mixed 1:1 ratio flour and water. Covered with a cloth and it's day 3 and is very active.
😮🤯🤯🤯
Ok I didn’t stir it, it looked thick to me
I'm sure the glyphosate doesn't help...
wow if you husband is a minister where is all the money comming from?
