My grandfather bought this suitcase in hong kong in the 80s and i found it in my parents attic when i was about 14. it is save to say that this suitcase has seen some places and A LOT of festivals. You guys know I am a big music lover and i collect vinyl. one thing that always bothered me about the beautiful Technics MKII turntables is the ugly plastic dustcover-so recycling the suitcase into a recordcabinet solves this issue finally! I will update the complete music area in my house so you can expect more music and vinyl related builds soon.
You did a KILLER Job Big L!!! Perfect "traveling and on a mission" music! GREAT solution to the Dust Cover! That's the only thing I DON'T like about Techniques ll is that hideous Dumpster Lid, they call a "dust cover"...Much Love! Have A Super Week!.....Gus
Laura’s house would make for an awesome museum with all the smart gadgets and wonderful furnishings that open to reveal even more incredible artefacts. People would flock to get a tour. … of course, this museum would have the best music playing in the background.
Wonderfully done Laura. I love your cabriole legs on the stand and the new life you've given your suitcase. The brass pegs in the legs in something I must try. Thank you Eric
Super cabriole legs, just looks like you could lift the case off & go traveling. Extraordinary repurposing in ways no one else would think of! Thanks for inspiring!
Your skill is amazing. And not just wood working. To conceive of that final product and make it a reality. Wonderful. Taking your love of wood working, and the physical evidence of your love of music and combining them into something artful and musical.
very cool combo of old family stuff with brass&wood and repurposing. Laura at her best my friend ! Thanks (as always) for the inspiration... Keep on trucking (from France) !
This tape trick to get the hole as deep as planned and to get the the glue leftovers away have just blown my mind! anddd I love how the result turned out
What a gorgeous idea! At first I thought you were using the suitcase to hide the turntable in plain sight. The legs are very curvy like a woman and the brass dowels are a beautiful touch. Kudos laura.
I've always loved your clean, midcentury furniture that you build, but it's cool to see you branch out with something a little more ornamental, and I loved seeing the process of cutting those legs on the band saw. So cool!
What an awesome idea! I don't have a table saw (yet), but next time I find a second hand little stool or table and an old suitcase in my local charity shop, I am going to have a go at something similar! Thanks for the inspiration, Laura x
LG Haui
Step right up folks to the Laura Kampf SHOW OF AWESOMENESS! See this miracle of nature perform magic right before you very eyes! You will stand amazed, you will stand in AWE! Step right up! Step right up!
This is so you. If I were to see this somewhere else, I'd definitely think of you. Out of all your beautiful pieces of work, I think this one tops the cake. 😉
Wow! Beautifully creative. The legs, and brass treatment to them look very cool. Nicely done Laura, thank you! Have a nice day! (We will too soon in Michigan - it is Spring finally!)
Beautiful! I have an old cardboard (or something like that) suitcase my father bought in 1958 when he travelled to Europe with his architecture classmates. It has some travel stickers from de 50's and I added some from my 1986 travel... This is a great idea for my vinyl collection! Thank you so much!
its so nice assembling.......classy...... Never forget to take the turntable platter out everytime you go out.....It demages the spindle... Cheers Rio / Brazil !
Reminds me of the Cabrillo leg foot stool that I made in high school as a freshman. It was very nice and ornate. When I brought it home, my parents weren't impressed. Down played its beauty and craftsmanship. Years later, turns out they were just discouraging me from working with tools and my hands. Thought I was better than a trade job. Now I live in a workshop. Haha! You go Laura! Make awesome stuff the way you want!
Pretty creative, I like the massive collection of stickers on the front as well, I guess that'd be all the character it'd ever need lol Nice work Laura
Saw you with April and thought I'd check out your channel. Love what you did with this project. As a father of daughters and grandfather to granddaughters I love seeing women who can be great role models to them. Keep it up.
Ahh, I love the stand, the legs are so cool! That is a much better life for the suitcase then bringing it to the California makers fair. As usual the editing and music are sharp!
RUclips emails a notice and it was labeled "Laura Kampf hat auf deinen Kommentar geantwortet" so I had google translate for me and it is just a simple "you sent a message" I just wondered what youtube was saying. :)
Laura has a collection of sweethearts. It makes some men jealous. And when she's done using them, she packs them up and puts them in their place. I like those Stanley chisels.
Bittersweet really, that old case must have seen so much action and now it's traveling days are behind it. At least it has a groovy retirement job. There is some sort of life analogy to be made here but it eludes me at the moment. Sweet build Laura :)
Just superb, absolutely loved this build! I was wondering where you were going with it and I got the biggest smile when you put the turntable in there! Awesome work!
Came via April Wilkersons's channel and this is the first video I have seen on your channel, pretty much guarantees i will be going back over and watching them all now :)
OMG Laura you are so awesome! This is so good in so many ways! Love your work! It is amazing how the old suitcase of your grandfather now could be showcased as an art piece where the old object (suitcase) plays the modern part (turntable) in contrast to the new object (legs) that is oldfashion in terms of craftmanship... just stunning Maybe im exaggerating but in my opinion - from an artistic point of view - one of your best works!! yeah, why did nobody ever come up with a nicer cover, right? happy you approve of this solution
Really like that the brass is a nice touch of class
Laura Kampf Beautiful job. That's very pretty.
You are like a magician....putting music inside an empty, old, cozy suitcase.....respect...as usual...hugs from Italy....
Laura’s house would make for an awesome museum with all the smart gadgets and wonderful furnishings that open to reveal even more incredible artefacts. People would flock to get a tour. … of course, this museum would have the best music playing in the background.
Wonderfully done Laura.

That's an awesome upcycle. And a much better way to hang on to something that carries family history. Now it will carry your story too.

How can you be so good at making stuff and at same time be so good at producing and editing videos?
Your channel is a bless for the makers' community.
Wow, I think your grandfather would be really proud of you and the work you did. Really nice work Laura, great idea.
That walnut and brass does it every time! Great project, and great way to keep a treasured item in sight and in use instead of throwing it out.
Thank you, Laura! This build inspired me to give second birth to my old fashioned suitcase from 70-s. cheers from Russia!
very cool combo of old family stuff with brass&wood and repurposing. Laura at her best my friend !
Thanks (as always) for the inspiration...

Watching your videos is a complete delight, as always! What an awesome idea! Beautifully executed
This is one of your most beautiful works of art. A few years ago, I had a bag like I used it to put the rods of my drum. Viva la musica
WOW , what an awesome, creative and practical way to preserve all the memories you've had with that.
hey gib! thanks for your sweet email! happy you like the video!
I've always loved your clean, midcentury furniture that you build, but it's cool to see you branch out with something a little more ornamental, and I loved seeing the process of cutting those legs on the band saw. So cool!
Once again, your classic style is music to my eyes.
I love that project so much! Your creativity knows no end🔨
