Oh gardening friends are awesome enablers. 😂 I totally get it.
We are pure TROUBLE. But like the best trouble. 😂
Even through the screen! 😆
Thanks for taking us along. You can see the creativity and passion for gardening you both have.
Our pleasure! I talk about things being "life giving" and time with good friends is just that. Thank you for being with us!
Camera person did a professional job on this video! Really enjoyed you two ladies talking plants.
That’s Brian… isn’t he awesome?
Ohmygosh! Who filmed this? Jason?? It was so professionally done!! Kudos!❤❤❤❤❤ maybe your hubby Kate? I enjoyed this video so much I watched it 3 times! LOVE IT❤
This was 100% Brian... and he is going to be grinning from ear to ear when I show him your comment. Isn't he so darn talented?!? We hoped it would feel like everyone got to come on a field trip with us and it sounds like it was as much fun for all of you!
@@HelloGarden Oh my, Kate! I was in seventh heaven just walking around with you and Janey!! 💕Garden Girlfriends!!
🩷 Dawn (IL)
@@dawny.9101me too!!
“Not everyone can sing at the same time!” Your analogies give me life! 😆Love your channel and your passion for containers!
Thank you so much. Janey calls them “Kate-isms”. 🤣
Me too!
Ohmygoodness....is there anything better than plant shopping with a plant friend! I can't stop loving Kate and her amazing plant brain 😊
You are SO KIND! My plant brain sure has a life of its own. ☺️
I love the connection between you and Janey!❤❤❤❤
And it's been like this since minute ONE. We feel like we've known each other for years and are already plotting our next adventure. 😊
Oh my gosh, I loved this so much. Listening to the two of you talk about plants and what works in CA vs. the PNW and what is common in one place that is exotic in another. To have you, Kate, walk around and make suggestions for Janey's pots and gardens like a good friend giving relationship advice. I felt so privileged to get to eavesdrop on your conversation at the garden center. Fantastic!
Oh man… thank you for watching and I’m over here blushing. But I think you’re actually touching on an interesting point. I think we are always in relationship with the our gardens so maybe you are right on point… it is an exactly like garden relationship advice!
This was awesome collab 🎉👍🏻🙌🏻 you gals are my spirit animals ♥️✌🏻🫂🇨🇦
Such a fun video. It’s always so interesting to experience a different growing environment that what we are used to. I am so jealous of the citrus trees that have an abundance of fruit just waiting to be harvested. But then when we get home to our own environment, we appreciate what we have. I for one love the change of season.
🥰🌸🇨🇦
I was howling that I'm loving their "parking lot plants"... and I have to pull Japanese maple seedlings out all the time. It's so fun to have friends in other growing zones because it truly helps you appreciate what we can grow.
Love you two together!! You both have such a love of what you do and anything dealing with plants!!!
Thank you so much! It’s so fun to have a friend like Janey. But it’s also best we live in two different cities… we can shop a nursery like nobody’s business! 🤣
Adorable friendship. ❤❤ my garden friends. The joy is Real. What a fun shopping trip. 😊
Aren't we the luckiest?!? After the event, Janey, Robbie and all of our partners just sat around chatting all things gardening, life and being on this RUclips adventure together. It was food for my soul.
Ooh, Janey just said lemon tree! I knew you'd love that - can't wait to see that plant go in!!
Oh yes, to this day! Gardening laughter and just pure fun!
We had the BEST day. Brian got some silly footage of us doing a happy dance over pots that I may throw over on IG.
I luv the way you guys talk and so thrilled about plants.❤❤
We are total garden nerds… and it was so fun to tour her nursery!
Kate, you are just adorable and sooo smart! I'm addicted to your gardening perspective and can't to learn more from you! Rock on with your bad self, girl! 🌱🌿🍃
Oh man. This is really meaningful to me. For a long time, I felt quirky, awkward and nerdy. Turns out I just hadn't found my people yet. 😊 Thank you for all your encouragement... It means the world!
@@HelloGarden You are among your peeps now and you're shining like the North Star!!
How fun seeing the excitement from each of you shopping together! I can't wait to see what you put together for Janey's front entrance ❤
It was so fun to pull it all together! The video is live so go enjoy. 😊
What a treat for us!!! You two...love you!!!
I’m so happy to have you here and that you enjoyed our romp through the garden center. Big hugs to you!
Hi Kate! WOW when you two get together is so much fun❣️I love to walk through nurseries! Love the video the energy is real 🪴👒❤️
Thank you so much for coming along! 💕
Plant shopping with the two of you is such fun!
I’m so lucky. It was the perfect end to a go go go weekend!
So much knowledge exploding from both of you! Great video!
😊 I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Janey and Kate, I just love and appreciate you both so much. You offer such strong educational components, like texture, flow, color, cohesiveness...but your passion and outward zest is the hook for delivery and understanding of design that I do not intuitively recognize. I'm watching this while on a break at work and I just want to pack up and go home and start addressing my back porch.
I’m passing all these notes along to Janey… thank you so much for your support and watching our videos! It’s so meaningful to know that I’ve made a difference!
I need a garden buddy here now!
EVERYONE needs a garden buddy. 💕 I hope you find yours soon!
What an awesome field trip 😻 Thank you guys!
Oh and hats off to whoever was in charge of the camera. Definitely Hollywood skill potential 💯
Brian is grinning from ear to ear… that’s all him! ☺️
Can’t wait to see the white agapanthus in the zigzag planter! That is the perfect solution/accent!
Right?!? I wish I had more time down in CA. That zigzag planter is so cool.
100% agree with the elephant ear and the agapanthus and the staghorn ferns mounted.
YES! I saw those staghorns and just immediately thought "Gallery Wall". It's going to be sooooo gorgeous.
I love this! Kate I want a one on one garden center experience with you! The way you think through your selections is mind blowing. I can’t wait to see what you do on Janey’s porch!
Can you IMAGINE?!? I freaking love plant shopping with friends. Quick! I need a PR person to schedule a garden center nation-wide tour with pre-booked plant selection dates!
@@HelloGarden That would be A MAAAZ BALLS!
OMG!!! I am loving this! I cant wait to see the video about the containers! THIS IS FUN FOR ME!!!!!!!!!! Thank you!
I think it’s coming tomorrow! Janey said she’s feeling much better today, but man she’s been working hard. Hey, it’s a good suspense builder! 🤣
Loved the containers you did for janey. I have grown 550 cloues seeds this year my garden is going to be looking nice.
Thank you so much. And 550 coleus?!? I’m imagining the huge garden these are going in… your garden is going to be spectacular!
I am a new subscriber who lives south of you in Centralia, zone 8. Thank you for the inspirational and informative content. Between you, Dig, Plant, Water, Repeat and Robbie’s channel I have been learning so much and laughing so hard! Can’t wait for what’s next✨⭐️✨
Yay!!! Welcome, neighbor! I’m so glad to have another PNW subscriber. ☺️
I’m so jealous! I want Kate to shop with me and give design tips. But then….that just happened!!! Love this format and, great job Brian. 👏👏👏
Brian is so good!!! And yeah… I LOVE a good shopping trip. I actually taught a class about how to shop like a pro during the Great Growalong. Might need to launch that series over here!
@@HelloGarden Ah, yes please!!
This is an incredible nursery! i need this!
Green Acres was a GEM! Super well laid out and amazing staff. 💕
We all are envious and want another growing zone. I'm lucky that I garden in the summer months in MI 6b and winter months in FL zone 9a. So fun to see such unique plants. You guys are so fun!
You get the best of both worlds! Truth be told, I love my growing zone so much. But I would LOVE an agave. 😉
@@HelloGarden I'll have to check them out for FL!
it's interesting to hear you talk about winter interest. I live in Maine, the garden will be under several feet of snow for three months or more here, so I love noting the difference in other parts of the country.
Winter interest is HUGE here. We may only get a little spell of snow, but it's endless rain and gray skies for several months... so having winter foliage and bright twigs is so lovely!
So fun. I am totally a shop the rack person.
Ohhhhh man. A woman after my own heart! 🤣
Love Green Acres! I drive 50 miles from Ripon 3-4 times a year to shop. Your adventures are so inspiring!
It was a FABULOUS nursery!!! The people were so kind, the plants were incredible... I can totally see why you'd drive 50 miles.
Watched twice (so far…) 💚
🤣 I kinda love that I get to capture these memories and revisit them.
Hi Kate, I loved how Janey grabbed your hand (6:00) as if to draw more energy and garden vibes from you! If I lived closer to you I would so have you as a consultant on a tour such as this one! 🥰🌸🇨🇦
Awww... we totally bounce off one another. And I've thought I should just be hired to roam a garden center and pick plants for people! Wouldn't that be the best?!?
@@HelloGarden Yes it would!! Pick me! Pick me! I'd hire you in a NY minute!
I just love when Kate start throwing out ideas🥰☺️❤
That’s when it gets DANGEROUS. I have a feeling I may be taking a trip to work on a staghorn gallery wall. 🤣
Greatest…….that was fun ..I can see why you all became fast friends , One of the main things that I learn from videos is ……Know ,your own garden. Lemon and olive trees in East Tennessee ,NOT …..but give me a Red Maple . We all have some envy of what we can’t grow. They sell olive and lemon trees here if you have a green house . Thanks as always 🌿🍃
Right?!? That was one of our conversations on the way home and we discuss it on the podcast releasing next week too. Sometimes we need to step back and listen to our garden. What does it truly need from us as caretakers and gardeners? 🍀
This was so fun to watch you two. The ideas you both have and the love of plants is fantastic. Can't wait to see Janey's video.
Awww… her video was SO fun. Now we just need our girl to rest up and feel better! 🩷
Can you explain HOW to do a mount…?! Would make a great video…how to keep them alive!
Oh that would be so fun!!! I’m in Seattle and literally have a staghorn in my shower so it gets lots of moisture. ☺️
Wish I could shop with you two gals!
I wish I could take everyone!
This is amazing!
🤗
What a great team you two make. lol to the part about you saying here about America, I’m thinking well Mexico is part of America(just made me laugh). 😆 love California and all the beautiful plants you can grow year round. I’m in the PNW close to Portland, OREGON. I am sooo envious you found that lambs ear, I ko joke have asked every single garden center around me about Helen vonstein lambs ear, they look at me like I’m making it up. I absolutely love it and can’t have it 😢
Oh hey Oregon neighbor! Isn’t that one spectacular?!! Keep trying. I feel like its availability comes and goes in waves. You are for sure not making up that plant. Ha!
Love Your and Janey's Videos Get well soon Janey. Cape Town South Africa
I know... she texted me last night to say she wouldn't have her video up and all I could think is that she truly put everything she had into the event this weekend. And now she needs a rest. 💕
You both are so enjoyable. I just loved this video.
I'm so glad!!! I even asked Brian... do you think anyone wants to watch us squeal over plants for 30+ minutes? I guess the answer is "yes". 😂
@@HelloGarden I could have watched for 2 hrs, so enjoyable!
Y’all are the cutest! 🤩❤️🩹🦋
No you are! BTW, would you ever ship dried flowers?!? I’m still dreaming of those dried cardoons. 😍
@@HelloGarden Yes! Let’s connect and I’ll ship you some …
💖🌸👍🏻🌸💖
✨💞🌸💞✨
Over here laughing because I was just visiting my mom and we hit like three nurseries and were 100% slinking through the carts of inventory that weren’t put out yet lol!
Heeeeck yeah! I’m so proud of you. 🤣
I would be so happy for you to have a lemon tree . I can’t believe there was never one planted before. I eat a sack of lemons a week at minimum.
I agree Janey should totally have one!
Your front porch is so lovely!!! Where did you get your beautiful terra cotta pots? Maybe I missed it in the video or a previous video.....
I have never seen such a variety of styles in terra cotta before.
I believe she picked them up at Home Goods and TJMaxx. I can't remember which video it was, but hope that helps! She said she shops them early and not all from the same store.
Hi Kate, it was fun meeting you and watching you in action potting a gorgeous container! What a fun, fun event! I’ve been wanting to go to green acres but how does one contain themselves?! 😂 I need a gardening friend to enable me!
The only reason I could contain myself is that I only brought a carryon. 🤣 That place is FABULOUS!
@@HelloGarden right?! 😂
Loving the ideas bouncing btw. you two! Enjoying the plants like kids in a candy shop...having so much fun. TFS...
Thank you for watching... it was so darn fun! We actually chatted on the way home about how being in the presence of other creatives enhances all of our gifts and joy. Such a treat to be together!
So in love with this conversation ❤❤❤
It was SO much fun. Can you imagine hosting a shopping event?!?
@@HelloGardenWell, I can imagine attending one. The Park Winters Proven Winters event was magical 🌺
So much fun to spend time with a friend that has the same passion!!!
It’s so very true! 😊
Hi Katie🌺. I enjoyed this cool video and see you with Janey in the nursery . Have a great day .🌺🌻🌺
Thank you! 🤗 and right back at ya… have an amazing day!
I killed my air plant too!!! You two are so funny. Lots of great ideas.
I’m so glad I’m not alone!!! I literally love them to death. 🙄
Had my first container build for a stranger today, totally felt like you walking around the garden center looking for my thrillers, fillers and spillers. Used all the tips and tricks from your container 101 videos! Turned out to be a big hit! Huge thank you for helping me look like such a pro! 😁
Oh my gosh. CONGRATULATIONS!!! I’m so honored to be part of your journey. ✨
I love seeing you together having girlfriend time after the pop-up event. And I love how you share portions of your special time together on both of your channels.
It was so fun we just HAD to share! 💕 Thanks for coming along!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS!

This looks like the elk gtove location I'm always at green acres
Oh man… you are lucky! That Elk Grove location was wonderful!
I love you guys!!!
Oh my gosh... we love all of you! Also, we shouldn't be left alone in a nursery... I'm surprised we didn't buy out the place!
Was so fun! I didn’t want it to end!
Oh we didn't either! We squeezed in every moment of girl time possible on this trip and it was the best.
Incredible video love both of you❤
Awww… thank you!!! We had a blast.
You ladies are so fun!! I’m a creeper too, always go for the back plants 🪴
Ha ha ha! Plant Creepers unite! 🌱
I want a gardening friend like you to shop with! Someone who speaks the same language and gets thrilled at possibilities!
Step 1: Find a garden friend.
Step 2: Buy all the plants.
Love seeing you guys shop. Good to see your thoughts as you pick out plants.
It was a super fun trip… Green Acres is fabulous!!!
One of the most fun videos i have watched in awhile. I would love to shop with you!
It was equally fun to film. ☺️ I told another commenter that I would love to be hired to just hang at a nursery for the day and shop for people!
Such fun!
SO much fun!
Love this collab!
Ummm… WE are loving this collab. 🤣
So fun video. ❤ This video gave so much information and tips, which I would want when shopping at a nursery.. It was exactly what I and probably many people with me want. You are so fantastic. Thanks ❤
Glad it was helpful! And thank you so much for watching. I figure I do enough shopping that I’ve accumulated a tip or two. And it’s just plain rude not to share. 🤣
Hi Kate, I need to know where did you get your cross body bag from you are wearing in this video? Love it 😍
So I’ve been eyeing this purse for AGES and finally purchased it last year. ☺️ It’s a Mansur Gavriel bucket bag in the color papaya.
You ladies are my friends...I just feel it 😅
Garden people are just good darn people!
Great video!
Thank you so much!
Are you talking about Lamontra grass that is a Southerner Living plant. I guess others have that grass but what I’ve seen and loved is from Southern Living
I should ask Janey. Up until recently, just the all gold, Aureola and Beni-Kazi were readily available. Now there are so many more!
So much fun watching you shop together. Now I have to go shop at My garden shop Van Winden’s It’s one of Janey favorites in napa.
Oooooo… I’ve seen her visit Van Winden’s and I can’t wait to go someday! You’re so lucky!
So fun! Start jasmine is a parking lot/grocery store plant where I’m from lol
That is WILD! It’s so expensive here! Lucky lucky you!
I'm pretty obsessed with Hakonechloa as well! My collection now includes Lemon Zest, Sunflare, All Gold and Aureola. Beni-Kaze is also a good one.
Oooooo… Beni-Kaze is a goodie. And Hakonechloa is one of my first plant loves.
How cool! I was at Green Acres in Elk Grove the day after the pop up event too. Would have been cool to run into you guys! 😂 Hoping I find a plant nerd friend or neighbor of my own. Hahaha Love this video!
No way!!! That would’ve been so fun to run into you! And I’ll send my best Plant Bestie energy your way…
This is my local garden center! ❤
Oh my gosh. You are one lucky woman!!! Green Acres is fabulous!
❤
💞💞💞
Loved this video! I have to know, where can I find your bag??? Absolutely obsessed, need one for myself.
Oh you are so sweet. I was looking for the perfect bucket bag in a bright color for a long time. It's a Mansur Gavriel bag in the color Papaya.
How much fun in a garden center with a special friend from to different growing zones. Question: Did any customers ask for your advice while shopping?
Not a single one! But I do notice sometimes people follow behind to listen in. 🤣
Janey hope your feeling better. Fun trip with your friend. I wanted to know where dud you buy your green stripped shirt. I love it...
I’ll ask her when she feels better. 😊
Do they have an online catalogue? I am picking out things even as you are going around the shop. 😂
Kate David, when you mentioned Janeys outdoor dining area plant wall, it’s like we are on the same wave length. Janey, you need to hire Kate to do this!!!
No online list that I know of, but this is what happens when you’re my friend. I accidentally design your garden over a cup of coffee or glass of wine. 🤣
Thank you, Kate, Janey and Brian! This was so fun!
You are so welcome! I’m loving the Brian shout out. 😍
Fun to see your shared enthusiasm and brainstorming ideas. Special Request: Can we go back and talk about the agapanthus? I always thought of it as a California plant but have started seeing it in Portland area nurseries and it is supposedly hardy. I took a chance and planted three last year but lost all of them over the winter (and they were not inexpensive). The roots were just mush... Assume they were just too wet but it's PORTLAND. What doesn't get and stay wet all winter? (I keep losing nepeta, too.) Would love for you to share some tips on agapanthus, and for that matter, other plants that don't like the winter wet. I've struggled with plants, even "tough perennials", that love the warm dry summer months in the PNW but can't tolerate wet feet all winter...
Yes! Great question. I think it sounds like your soil may be clay heavy. If that’s the case, the excessive water in our region makes it a challenge. My sandy soil works well for agapanthus. I’ve also used it in lots of raised beds and containers because they drain so freely! One thing you could try is amending the soil with sand and some more barky mulch.
I find it hilarious that people always want to grow what’s hard to grow in their area rather than embrace what naturally thrives.
That is exactly why we kept that part in and love shopping with each other! It’s a natural, beautiful reminder to appreciate the common in our respective worlds.
Janie are you keeping a secret?
Sadly not. She’s been working really hard to put on the event and then talked for 12 hours straight. Her voice was soooo shot.
A good thing you don’t live in the same city. It would have a new meaning to plant poor😂
Oh my gosh. 💯 Ha ha ha!
