Base Wars was a game that stuck out to me so much back when I first started playing roblox in 2013. I always used to camp in trees and snipe people and it took so long for people to realize where I was. I'm glad to still see people playing it to this day.
I personally dont like it these days because of the strength gap being so much greater than before. Before someone with low kills could easily kill someone with more kills, now there is extreme armor and weapon upgrades to the point where if you dont have those things aswell no way will you beat the guy with more kills. They also buffed the hell out of planes, which i dont like. The armor for extreme vip is literally tons of health, with 80% bullet damage reduction, even though explosives should be the weakness, I find myself never killing people wearing those armors anyway because they can oneshot me while I can only 3 shot them with rocket.
really well made video! a game you didn't mention but was very good for 2013 was BATTLEFIELD by DeadzoneZackZak, which no one seems to talk about anymore there's lots of videos on it if you're curious, even maxxz reviewed it for the roblox channel back when it originally released warblox FPS by StereoBan is a good example of a 2012 fighting game. very underrated game. the maps were also created with scripts, according to the creator, which is pretty impressive for 2012 :)
thanks :~) deadzone was one of those games that i almost included but cut out last minute to keep this from going over like 40 minutes, same with phighting, hedgerows 2 demo, arcane adventures, and a few others
I wish Apocalypse Rising was still in its prime, as someone who played it during its downfall, I am here to say I have never experienced this game when it was the most popular game on the platform, seeing only 5 servers with a 99% chance of hackers makes me sad knowing this game was revolutionary. However it is, besides my point, my favourite Roblox game of all time
idk if when i found it was when it was in its prime but it was when there was still over 1k players on pretty much 24/7, wasnt many hackers that i came across but yea it was great. these days tho a great alternative is unturned on steam. granted some of the servers get a bit questionable but the fact it can borderline completely change how you play the game depending on what map you pick. its far from its prime tho but imo still decent.
I remember Heli Wars taking several years to be dethroned from the front page. It not only was a classic, but was one of the first games to truly hog the front page for extended periods of time
23:50 neighbor war is my favorite fps game by far, there are now WAY better fps games out there but i just love the simple design and the fact that you can cuff someone and torture them for an hour then get headshot its just great! i also like how you can do this but instead go into the bunker before getting headshot and putting the player you cuffed in a secret cage for the rest of eternity.
Darn bro, I thought u would mention Ultimate Power by Mzh3000, that game was my jam! It was also quite advanced with many attack buttons, animations and power effects, it was pretty popular
Absolutely great video on the history of fighting games but I do think you have missed some notable fighting games. Blackhawk Rescue Mission 5 for its unique tactical and openworld gameplay, The flappy men for its cartoony aethstetic and develop engine and Phighting, a small but promising fighting game with multiple classes based on Roblox gears.
i think item asylum is unique in the fact that it doesnt take itself seriously. all the content in the game is references to various jokes and media and its just a funny little game
Honestly the only old roblox game dev that i saw that was active to this day was ZolarKeth, he seems to be the only developer of the game "Starscape" (really cool game, i played it) after all the things that happened in it.
As someone who loves fighting games this has made me notice some of my old favorites (phantom forces) and some of my new (combat warriors) Fighting games used to not be worth playing, but they certainly are now
It's funny because fighting games on roblox are so far from the traditional definition of fighting game. It's really interesting because the games are very good and tbf the anime ones are actual fighting games.
You kinda of missed Allusions on this video. The game used to be a dev sandbox for Klev but it turned popular in 2021-2022 with its crazy updates with Klev and his team eventually adding Weapon Events and the most craziests weapons/arsenals.
i was honestly surprised that fairytail wasn’t mentioned, back in around 2015 or so?? (vague guess) it was very popular in the anime fighting category. that and a really old one piece game that i remember playing around then too
It was made in 2014 btw, but yeah that game was very good for its time and is the reason i started watching the fairy tail series. Only thing I dont like about the fairy tail game back in 2014 is because it started the whole spinning to get a random magic thing. Tons of games afterwards desided to adapt that function later in years including games that was not even fighting games. Which proved successfull. Yeah I think fairy tail 2014 is the reason behind all these overpriced cashgrab simulators with tons of rng functions and a ”chance” to get a pet. It was the kickstarter of all of those reward based on rng kind of games.
Soulshatters might also have been a influential game using a lock on based fighting system, racking up 155.4M visits. Sadly the game dosen't get a lot of updates but there are other games inspired by it like Undertale test place reborn, Alternate battle grounds and untitled combat each with their own spins to it.
@@unsigneddivorcepapers first of all your ratio failed second just because a game was inspired by undertale dosen't make it cringe they made the game with passion and love for undertale what you are saying has the same energy of someone saying minecraft mods are cringe because it wasn't made by mojang even though the modder helped the game keeping its longevity by giving it extra content for completely free and third what makes you think that you decide what this channel produces? All what you said has no value since opinions are subjective. You don't like something? Ok keep it to yourself and don't harass others because they like something that you don't. Normal people don't harass you just because you have a different taste in video games than theirs
I went into this video thinking that SoulShatters was going to covered as a lot of class like fighting have been inspired by SS and one of the most popular undertale combat game, Alternate battle grounds.
Here is another game that has been in development for quite a while. I'm talking about SC:R also known as Soul Combat Remastered. This game is basically a fan made version of Black Magic 2 but didn't start but didn't start out well. It didn't until the creators decided to revamp the game completely. It's been growing ever since that now it has more current players than the OG Soul Combat currently. Currently it only has one class named Brawler but I seen a lot of upcoming classes in the game for example Wraith, Chronos, Warrior, and Doom Slayer, which is an admin-only class.
Strife has to be my favorite Roblox fighting game. It reminds me of Final Fantasy or an anime that's reminiscent of Sword Art Online. I loved the music, the different classes, their abilities and their appearances. It's one of the true Roblox fighting games I'll always be welcome to play again.
I'm honestly shocked that nothing was said about A Universal Time, considering that it alone has been the most influential Jojo's Bizarre Adventure based-game. This game dropped in 2020 and was highly praised, and the mention of A Bizarre Day is a huge slap in the face, considering that they stole assets from the AUT team, and ended up almost being removed from roblox because of this. AUT deserves a shoutout!
A bizarre day dropped before 2020, i don’t really know abt the asset situation, but before AUT and A bizarre day, the OG jojo fighting games were Not so bizarre adventure, and JOJO’s Bizarre World, both from 2017. There have been a lot more influential jojo games on roblox that have come before AUT and A bizarre day combined. Two other amazing jojo games were troublesome battlegrounds, jojo’s bizarre adventure: diamond chains, and jojo’s bizarre adventure PHANTOM.
Because of my strict parents, I never had the chance to play roblox until 2014. (I'm 19 if u wanna know) I only played a guest up until 2016 where I made my first account. By the time I joined roblox, the old school roblox games would get overpowered by the newer roblox games. Don't get me wrong, a lot of these newer games are cool. At that time, I managed to play some of these classic games. It's just crazy to see how far we've gotten with roblox game development.
I think blood and iron should be mentioned in this one. It was created during 2009 and pretty much it was a musket based warfare And I think it was the first game to (maybe) introduce the musket warfare genre. The game is still alive with 700+ players with mobile support. Edit: so uh I found out that it was actually created in 2015 and not 2009. The dev used an older experience to create Blood and iron. Thanks for the person in the reply section for telling me.
So uhh here’s a common mistake: the place itself was made in 2009 when the creator joined right? In 2015 the creator made the game and because it costed money to create a new place he replaced the one from 2009 with this one
I think I’m probably hallucinating, but I thought I remembered playing one ROBLOX fighting game very early from when I started playing (this would be around 2016-2018) where you could choose from many popular Roblox users at the time like Matt Dusek and others, sorta like ABA in that there were many different characters to choose from. It was a team based game, and in particular I remember a map where it was basically a long bridge with two towers on either side as spawn zones. Sadly, I’ve forgotten the name, and it’s likely to be closed now, but I do remember that it was pretty popular because the few times I played it, there were always a decent amount of players.
league of roblox maybe? it was a MOBA game that sounds similar to what your describing, with one of the maps being a one lane map thats just a big bridge. i believe the original game is closed, but the creator made a new(er) version called "battle for roblox" (that is unfortunately, rather dead it seems.)
Also i would loved to see games like ultimate power i think it was called and dragon ball online too Also i think elemental battlegrounds should have been in the video too but anyways great video man it gave me so much nostalgia...
I love how many of the OG fighting games on Roblox have found new life either by the games themselves gaining an audience again or people remaking them so people can enjoy the games in a new polished way but with the same old charming jankiness that old roblox had. Galleons, Armored Patrol, Underground War, Zeppelin Battles, and SFOTH are games I'll still play to this day.

snakeworl has really been around for so long and has birthed an entire genre of games on roblox. i remember going to the public library to play his games and many others.
I love watching these! Thank you for putting so much effort into these amazing history videos, and as boring as it sounds, I love learning about ROBLOX's history! I recognized quite a few of the games, I used to play Phantom Forces and Mad Murderer on the library computers with my friends back in the day! I also got to learn of some new fighting games that I will definitely be checking out after this comment is posted! P.s I love your Yume Nikki skin
16:04 I would like to add more information about Black Magic. Not only was it a class-based combat game, but it was also the predecessor to every combo-style (i.e. Smash bros) fighting game on roblox, having been directly influenced by BlazBlue and Guilty Gear. Early on in its life, one of its main developers, SazErenos, created a handful of the most advanced weapon scripts to exist on roblox at the time, the likes of which would not be succeeded for many years. It was also one of the first games to do "factions", which are basically in-game clans that adhere to the game's story. The original game is closed, but you can find a very faithful remake of Black Magic by nylium named "Black Magic Unleashed". Black Magic 2 was abandoned by Qaeo (Kway-oh) many years ago and he started another sequel to Black Magic named "Shards of Genesis". Both are good games that I highly recommend checking out.
oh my god, polyguns! one of the most polished fps games for its time and it's almost completely dead (although it may be considered as such, seeing that there are never more than 10 people playing at a time). I wish it had gotten updates so it wouldn't be so dead :(

im surprised u didnt mention elemental battlegrounds a single time during the blox fruits chapter, as it is the game that essentially allowed blox fruits to be as good as it is. the experience gamer robot had got from developing elemental battlegrounds would later be used to create a much more polished, modern game of a similar style, that being blox fruits. would have been nice if it was mention at least once, def deserves it

@@DemiCape Very good points.
7:11 Seeing that old pause menu for just a split second there sent me back in time. I forgot it used to look like this, wow
really well made video! a game you didn't mention but was very good for 2013 was BATTLEFIELD by DeadzoneZackZak, which no one seems to talk about anymore
there's lots of videos on it if you're curious, even maxxz reviewed it for the roblox channel back when it originally released
warblox FPS by StereoBan is a good example of a 2012 fighting game. very underrated game. the maps were also created with scripts, according to the creator, which is pretty impressive for 2012 :)
thanks :~) deadzone was one of those games that i almost included but cut out last minute to keep this from going over like 40 minutes, same with phighting, hedgerows 2 demo, arcane adventures, and a few others
@@toastedcherries are you gonna split up the other unused chapters in another video?
Phantom forces felt like a successor to BATTLEFIELD. Fun times
It not only was a classic, but was one of the first games to truly hog the front page for extended periods of time
23:50 neighbor war is my favorite fps game by far, there are now WAY better fps games out there but i just love the simple design and the fact that you can cuff someone and torture them for an hour then get headshot its just great! i also like how you can do this but instead go into the bunker before getting headshot and putting the player you cuffed in a secret cage for the rest of eternity.
also you forgot front lines!
Darn bro, I thought u would mention Ultimate Power by Mzh3000, that game was my jam! It was also quite advanced with many attack buttons, animations and power effects, it was pretty popular
Absolutely great video on the history of fighting games but I do think you have missed some notable fighting games. Blackhawk Rescue Mission 5 for its unique tactical and openworld gameplay, The flappy men for its cartoony aethstetic and develop engine and Phighting, a small but promising fighting game with multiple classes based on Roblox gears.
i think item asylum is unique in the fact that it doesnt take itself seriously. all the content in the game is references to various jokes and media and its just a funny little game
you are one of the channels i flock to for nostalgia, thank god your channel exists ❤️❤️
Also in 2014 be a parkour ninja was created , the game is still popular with around 1k players each day
I play it with Friends sometimes
funny how fighting genre went from "brickbattling in a cool build" to an actual super cool fps game thing. anyways, goodish video :)
Toasted, I've been here since 2021. Keep up the good work. You're amazing.
You kinda of missed Allusions on this video. The game used to be a dev sandbox for Klev but it turned popular in 2021-2022 with its crazy updates with Klev and his team eventually adding Weapon Events and the most craziests weapons/arsenals.
You really need to do a follow-up video on roblox clans like the Vaktovian Empire.
Heli Wars was awesome too.
i was honestly surprised that fairytail wasn’t mentioned, back in around 2015 or so??
It was the kickstarter of all of those reward based on rng kind of games.
they didnt even inculde shinobi life 2
I love these kinds of ROBLOX history videos, please please please keep making them!
Soulshatters might also have been a influential game using a lock on based fighting system, racking up 155.4M visits. Sadly the game dosen't get a lot of updates but there are other games inspired by it like Undertale test place reborn, Alternate battle grounds and untitled combat each with their own spins to it.
this channel isnt about cringe games like undertale fangames
@@unsigneddivorcepapers so you think fast paced lock on combat is cringe?
theres games thats also fast paced combat
ratio + undertale overrated
Should have mentioned that the guy who animated for games unite is one of my friends and he actually works for cod(Call of duty) in animation.
You actually helpped me find a game I was looking for many years that I had remembered playing around 2014, it was called "Strife!". Thank you!
Shrimply mind boggling
I love shrimp joke, it's shrimple! But magical!
Mfw new AUT update (everything is updated and awesome BUT THEY TOOK AWAY P//S’S VOCAL CHORDS AND THEY MADE SANS NOT ABLE TO DODGE ANYMORE AAAAAAAA)
Aut is kinda mid
aut is nowhere near the most infuential, that would probably be PJJ, despite that game being trash, its probably the father of all roblox jojo games
(also aut sucked back then only 6 year olds were praising it)
Because of my strict parents, I never had the chance to play roblox until 2014.
I barely play roblox anymore and don't watch roblox content, but your videos are really interesting for some reason.
Can’f believe you neglected Super Doomspire after mentioning Doomspire Brickbattle - either way, great video!
I think blood and iron should be mentioned in this one. It was created during 2009 and pretty much it was a musket based warfare
And I think it was the first game to (maybe) introduce the musket warfare genre.
Sadly, I’ve forgotten the name, and it’s likely to be closed now, but I do remember that it was pretty popular because the few times I played it, there were always a decent amount of players.
league of roblox maybe? it was a MOBA game that sounds similar to what your describing, with one of the maps being a one lane map thats just a big bridge. i believe the original game is closed, but the creator made a new(er) version called "battle for roblox" (that is unfortunately, rather dead it seems.)
surprising that deadzone wasn't mentioned in apocalypse rising's section
MAN I REMEMBER MAKING SUPER BROKEN GLITCHY COMBOS IN OLD DBZ GAMES THOSE WERE SOOOO GOOD OMG
Also i would loved to see games like ultimate power i think it was called and dragon ball online too
Also i think elemental battlegrounds should have been in the video too but anyways great video man it gave me so much nostalgia...
7:00 Dudeee i remember playing Naruto: Land of the Ninja when I was tiny on my friends PC, brazy I don't know much about roblox but its crazy to see stuff you still recognize from childhood
You definitely missed some like Polyguns and Elemental Wars/Battlegrounds, though I'd say this still covers most of them
@swagalicous397rip hex, the devs basically stopped updating the game and it died.
I loved that game. I used to sit in the spawn and just snipe people on the battlefield. Got to a pretty high level doing that.
snakeworl has really been around for so long and has birthed an entire genre of games on roblox. i remember going to the public library to play his games and many others.

I would like to add more information about Black Magic.
You forgot about Phighting.
polyguns, anarchy, and laser tag weren't mentioned but some of my favs growing up 2014-2016
oh my god, polyguns! one of the most polished fps games for its time and it's almost completely dead (although it may be considered as such, seeing that there are never more than 10 people playing at a time). I wish it had gotten updates so it wouldn't be so dead :(
@@cat__person kinetic code and last strike too if you remember
@@pho323 oh my god I remember kinetic code when it was alive + was in its alpha/beta stage of development when animations were broken but it was still fun as hell. I didn't get to play last strike though :(
I LOVE FIGHTING 🔥‼️
yeahhh 💣💣
yeahhhh!
3:55, can't believe I managed to get into a video as a few tiny pixels on a red doomspire tower in a 1080p video, while wearing the sickest MLP drip outfit.
I love fighting Peope... With Gunes....
I cant find a very similar game to the boss fighting stages where you could get classes and use some magic and they all different by class there was some bloxy cola class related
SUPER SCUFFLE GETS RECOGNIZED HELL YEAHHHH
The original Black Magic has been remade or revived under a new developer and is playable still with frequent updates.
here lies critical strike
A more recent FPS game on Roblox that is absolutely incredible is Frontlines. It doesn’t even look like Roblox. It’s so detailed and polished!
deepwoken....
Toasted should do vids of vr pvp games, like opposers and Clashers, short but sweet! :)
I constantly play catalogue heaven. I just think it is probably one of the best games and I’m really sad that it’s gone to only 22 players a day
I'm surprised Soulshatters was never mentioned on here, I remember it became pretty damn big.
Have y’all heard about Sweaty Combo Making Rehearsal? It’s an extremely dead game but it’s great and very Devil May Cry like
Thanks for unlocking my memories of the games made by loleris, he was my favourite dev when i joined.
I dont care if this sounds like a bot comment. I just genuinely love cherrie's videos. They are always pretty entertaining and informational. I think the fighting genre is pretty cool, but my favorite has to be brickbattler, even though it's in early beta rn.
Fun fact: A bizarre day was one of the main reason kf the creation of R63.
honorable mentions to "POWER" for being a forgotten, old, underrated, fun roblox fighting "dragon ball like" game.
Your voice is so soothing lol, I literally open a video of yours and do my homework, you should continue the [time] minutes of useless information series!
Super scuffle on top (only saying this cuz I’ve been playing it for almost 3 years)
i played underrated boss fighting games like between 2010 - 2013 which is i forgot what game name is.
It's where you play different classes.
Hey toastedcherries I would just like to let you know that your videos are getting better and better and are very informative, here's hoping you'll make it really big.
surprised that nothing from the arcane adventures line was mentioned
I can't believe how fast Roblox has changed from its ui to its fighting games starting from humble origins to giants
7:51 then, how are you playing it right now?
18:19 brooo Strife was my favorite game on Roblox, literally the only reason I played, Ive always wondered what happened to the game
im surprised u didnt mention elemental battlegrounds a single time during the blox fruits chapter, as it is the game that essentially allowed blox fruits to be as good as it is. the experience gamer robot had got from developing elemental battlegrounds would later be used to create a much more polished, modern game of a similar style, that being blox fruits. would have been nice if it was mention at least once, def deserves it
So blockfruut is related to battlegrounds?
Dang this shows how much they developed combat system over the years now we're in the generation GORE
30:14 yoo super scuffle!! I'm so glad this game has been getting popular these past few months, it really deserves more attention.
also hi i make music for this game!!
heli wars was my first roblox game i ever played in 2010.
This man did not mention Stealth Pilot's zombie house (the jaredvaldez game), Hunger Games, Pokemon Arena X or Battleship (2011-2013) or, but Black Magic was a nice touch.
