I like it that you are realistic. I wish I could be like Mike heck I wish I could be like you, But being a 58 and a woman I just don't have the might I used to. I don't let it stop me. I just do what I can. Thanks for all you have taught me
I work in the door industry. A lot of the hinges that you find on doors are steel, but certain models are brass. It doesn't matter what the finish is it can still be brass.
You are one of my favorites, Thub. You explain things as you work: categories and the type of metal/steel/tin etc. That is really appreciated. Plus, you are genuine! Oh, and maybe stop jumping off your truck bed? It hurts my knees watching that.
If I jumped off my tailgate the first thing to hit would be my feet followed by me knees but luckily my fall would stop when my face was planted on the pavement!!!!! Good haul!
I've noticed watching other scrapper videos that most scrappers don't see the value of certain things beyond the scrap value. And most don't seem to know how to do any other job besides collecting scrap metal, and most can't identify the non ferrous from steel or iron without a magnet.
That's all pallet racking for warehouse storage, the orange steel bar is the laid bearing, the wire racks with slats are the bottom that goes between two orange bars
Dude, If you help me emigrate to the place that you are located, I could easy live in your scrap yard, help you collect various metals, break them down, and help you film this, you would't even need to pay me a dime, just a small cut of the scrap. Looks like heaven. Love your videos. I'm super happy that youtube recommended me this channel. good quality content here. keep it up
It amazes me how peoples brains can operate so differently. Meaning there would never be a day under any circumstances where I could chuck that heavy duty shelving into a trash dumpster. I tend to be judgey against those who would. But good for the scrappers I suppose.
Thank you, yours as well! And yeah, I’m always amazed at the size of the heap they stack up there. That’s even kind of small for them, it looks like they just shipped out a container.
Nice haul, and I think a lot of us know what it’s like to have good stuff in a skip be “unavailable” due to a few hundred pounds of stuff sitting on top of it. Thanks for another great video!
Thank you! It’s a pretty fun hobby and doesn’t really need a whole lot of tools to get into. I hope my videos can help you quickly figure out how to make the best use of your time!
Another great video, I love how you engage with your audience and you don't leave them wondering what's going on. Plus why you don't make a big deal with it you can easily tell that you enjoy doing the work. Your videos are definitely less about scrapping and our bottle picking their about Adventure and you definitely show us an adventurous time. I agree with one of your other commenters when they say you're the Bob Ross of scrapping have to fully agree, because you've often provided a calming effect on me when have been upset about something usually after having a run-in with a Karen or Kevin just wanting to cause me problems if you know what I mean. Thanks again for your wonderful videos and I hope you and yours are doing good. Can't wait for another adventure with thumb the Scrapper man, but maybe get some knee pads because us old guys whenever you jump filled-in those knees of ours haha.
He worried about hitting a car outside dumpster with scrap. Much more common for scrappers to not secure dumpster door & a guest of wind blows it into a car, etc.
You took the time to pull the blower motors to strip later for copper but skipped the inducer motors and wire out of the furnace assemblies? Maybe #2 insulated and copper bearing motors not paying much in your area?
İ'm guessing that i'm the only one who thinks that trying to restore the fans would be time better spent than chopping them into their constituent parts.
Didn’t see you remove the little arms in the furnace that spit the natural gas out. The tips on those are brass and there are often 4-8 of them…. Very easy to recover(most of them will fit a socket)
Have you thought of putting some eye hooks through your walls to attach your tie downs? I have two in the front on both side (one low and one high), two more spaced out down the side and two on the back. They are a game changer for being about to secure stuff standing up like water heaters
Hey Mr Thub I'm from South Africa please could you explain how it works when you scrap stuff there, like how much do you the different material weigh I don't see you putting it on a scale. One love awesome video 📹.
They have big truck scales for the big tin/ferrous stuff and smaller ones to weigh non-ferrous stuff at scrapyards. Maybe they don’t want video inside where the valuable scrap is.
I'm betting your gonna put your chimney thru that metal piece you cut off that door. My father did the same for a old house furnace used in the garage.
Do you still go do your route of picking in the cans? When I first started watching you you did that in the bottles in the cans. Now you seem to be doing more scrap. I'm sure that brings more money.
To be honest, I miss picking cans sometimes 😅 collecting scrap metal is often better money but I wanted to move away from cans because it felt bad knowing I was potentially taking bottle money from pickers who need it more than I do. I’ll still make time to do it for a video here and there but scrap/dumpster videos seem to do better anyhow
@@CovidConQuitTheCensorship I appreciate the feedback! Really, it means a lot that you took the time to let me know how you feel. I do miss the adventures, and I am aware of what you’re talking about. I’ll have some treasure hunts keeping the focus on the exploring up next. I’m sure you understand why making “clickable” or “evergreen” content serves me well over the long term, but my intention has always been to sprinkle those in rather than focus on them. Thank you for being here with me, and thanks for communicating 💙
Thub my man. Just started scraping. Retired & needed something to do & what better than to scrap & help the environment & having fun! I still have problems with identifying the difference between copper & copper covered aluminum. I don’t see the metallic color vrs the white color?? I’m a nube & still learning!! Keep the videos coming.
There was a lot of good stuff in that open top, too bad it wasn’t in a better place where you could’ve taken more time. 🤪 Gotta watch your step up there in the land of snow ‘n ice! 😎 Question’s: 1) You measured the window in inch’s, I thought y’all was metric? 2) Also why didn’t you clip the wires on the furnace’s and squirrel cage’s, low grade? God bless 🙏🏼🇺🇸🇨🇦

It’s a truck spring brake chamber, and it stores spring tension to assist in creating brake compression. I had no idea until some folks pointed it out, it sounds like they can really blast off dangerously
When you say called in to pick up scrap does that mean you advertise or do you have any advise to someone just starting out scrapping do you just go to business and ask alot? Do you ever get yelled at to go away?
Don't know what to make of it, King Trash Panda. Is it too much of a coincidence since I send you the so-called don''t know what it is bronze piece that a lot of blessings were coming your way? Could it possibly have a mystical properties to it? Been watching 4 pass vids and it seems a possibility. NOT, lol! As I mentioned a few vids ago, I noticed that you haven't been picking up bottles and such. Has your region stopped buy back redemption? Let me know....
I used to work a lot harder to collect every little piece of wire, but they’ve kind of lost their sparkle a bit. Wires are still good but the teensy tiny ones make very little difference to the total weight. At least that’s my perception
I like it that you are realistic. I wish I could be like Mike heck I wish I could be like you, But being a 58 and a woman I just don't have the might I used to. I don't let it stop me. I just do what I can. Thanks for all you have taught me
Man you are the bob Ross of scrapping
You make me happy. Thanks.
Those rails you put on the truck ages ago have sure helped with loads like this! Well done Thub! 😊
I work in the door industry. A lot of the hinges that you find on doors are steel, but certain models are brass. It doesn't matter what the finish is it can still be brass.
FUN! Keep burning those bridges as you come to 'em!. "Preciate you right back, Thubbie.
get it all
scrap was at 140 a ton but haven't checked in months
Yeah thats what i thought thanks for the info.

😆 thanks Donna! I can’t promise not to jump out of the truck though, it makes me feel like Spider-Man!
Don't give up, one piece at a time can move a mountain! Keep it up!!!
Those fans are worth keeping for ventilation in the warmer months.
The gray furnace had copper for the heat coils
Nice haul of scrap 👍
very cool disks
Scrap metal prices are way down where I live in the United States.
Wow good stuff.
save the plants!!!!!!!!!!
That dumpster was stuffed, to the point of being unmanageable, good call
Those bottle bags are huge
Got my bottle bags today love them so much can't wait to fill them thankyou so much for being you keep doing the thing ✌️🤘
Great video I do drive a roll off truck and you would be amazed at the amount of steel we dump at the landfill
As Mike the scavenger would say, ya gotta be strong in this world!
I straighten t-post by sticking it in my trailer hitch. I imagine If I needed one bent in half I would have tried that.
I use the dumpster itself, one can find a way to bend a lot of stuff with just a little ingenuity.
If I jumped off my tailgate the first thing to hit would be my feet followed by me knees but luckily my fall would stop when my face was planted on the pavement!!!!! Good haul!
😂 oh dear! It almost sounds like you’re speaking from experience lol
I’ve watched almost every one of your videos over the last 3 weeks
Thank you for your full cooperation

7:50 saw that coming!
Watching Thub , stripping cables and a couple of old T.V's while having a beer and a special herbal cigarette
Now that's a perfect Saturday evening
That's all pallet racking for warehouse storage, the orange steel bar is the laid bearing, the wire racks with slats are the bottom that goes between two orange bars
Found few new scrappers from their comments on other scrappers videos. Entertaining video Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for taking us on another adventure.
I love your videos

Nice run! Congrats on the new forge. I have a big one and a little one... you may have hit on the just right one!
I’m pretty pleased with it! Was worried the smaller crucibles may not work very well in that big can but they seem to run great
I just hit- Share, Copy Link Thub! Might have to get scrapping in my 84 F250

Yes, there are two very big springs in the brake servo. You have to put a special bolt in it to release the spring to safely disassemble it.
i would hit that dumpster again it looked like a home depot dumpster great video

Not clipping wires?
Unrelated to the video, I have a question. Have you ever thought about getting a copper granulator?
Where do you get all that scrap metal
And before i forget what about circuit boards can they be recycled?
Hey Thub. Great content lately. Keep it up broski!

All those little pieces add up, right?
where do we find the merch?

Don't they give more for iron rotors? You just answered my question..
13:42 curious- what was it? I like cutting stuff open, so it would be nice to know.
I LOVE YOU❤💚💜🎅
Does motors pay same as shred
Can plastic from appliances and old stereo equipment and such be recycled or is it just trash?
It absolutely can, but the city specifies what they can process in the blue bins and unfortunately my city doesn’t include plastic appliance housing on the list
need you a helper like your kids or someone who likes doing the scrapping me and my son does scrapping here and there
And why are you not cutting the wire from the furnaces???
Is there a link to your merch?
do they pay more for your rotors they do here it's carbon steel
It is a bit higher yes, mine calls it “auto cast” but they do pay better than shred or prep
Another note, why don't you strip the wire out of the air conditioners? I probably would.
