  • The dumpster fire we know as Motorsport Games continues to disappoint NASCAR fans as once again we got bad news from the company. One of the biggest of these was reporting a net loss of $36 million in 2022 alone. Yet, time and time again they manage to skate by both on luck and seemingly getting money out of nowhere. So today we are going to look more into how Motorsport Games has not only continued to screw over NASCAR fans, but also IndyCar fans. How Motorsport Games keeps getting worse!!! When Motorsport Games got the nascar game contract, they bought the rights to the Heat games......hence why they were able to "update" Heat 5 with next Gen cars when they didn't make that game. So not only has Motorsport Games Fucked up their own game, they also Fucked up Heat 5 as well. I think you hit the nail on the head with the pre-order take, it's the single largest reason for the downfall of modern gaming imo, NASCAR or otherwise. Companies are enabled by pre-order culture, why finish the game by release when everyone has already bought it ahead of time? The day a large majority of us stop pre-ordering games full stop, I fully believe we'd begin to see gaming releases increase in quality.

I'm gonna compare Motorsports Games to Rovio:
Rovio removed "Rovio Classics: Angry Birds" from the app store since it performed better than their newer titles (which to me that decision is still complete bs), but their CEO and community managers are engaging with fans and the community on ways to bring back more beloved games from back in the day.
Motorsports Games on the other hand has a shady owner with bills shoved up his ass engaging in Russian ponzi schemes. Dmitry Kozko is a criminal, and he deserves to be locked up for life not only for the crimes he's committed, but for also betraying NASCAR and their audience. It's like they secretly want the sport to not grow and fail.

This mess isn't about Motorsport Games anymore, it's about Nascar.
Nascar helped create this situation where a single developer could have a stranglehold on an entire fan base. The reason we aren't getting a new Nascar game for at least a few years is because of the exclusivity that Nascar hands out with their license.
Nascar has been dead silent on anything regarding the video game side of the business, and don't seem aware of the negative effect having nothing but garbage for the past decade is having on their brand.
It seems like they never even bothered to make sure they had some kind of "out clause" in their licensing deal. Clearly Motorsport Games has already proven that they are never going to deliver anything worth playing, so their silence pretty much shows you that they are stuck without any options except for a possible court battle.
Motorsport Games is just the latest in a long line of developers who have failed to deliver a satisfactory game that represents Nascar, so Nascar should have been more careful in striking their deal with this latest developer.

I mean, I remember when sports games in general used to be good. It's not just a NASCAR problem. But I will say, if someone managed to make a good Nascar game, that would do a LOT in the sports video game market, as well as encouraging young fans to start watching Nascar. But it's likely we won't see that for a while.

I'd like them to bring back the gameplay that we were accustomed to back in the early 2000's. Heck, even the late 2000's. Some of the games in the last few years have been dumpster-worthy to say the least.

I have a hot take. The best NASCAR experience since 07 was the NASCAR DLC for Forza Motorsport 6. With no 40 car feild (might have still been 43 at the time), no dynamic pit stops, and no cautions, it was still better than the Eutechnics (probably spelled wrong), HEAT, and Ignition games. Solid physics on a controller, serviceable on a wheel, great visuals, the paint booth and marketplace, and the ability to modify your car to get that 4th Gen high horse power. A fucking DLC for a console exclusive racer was better than the official games.

The future of NASCAR console gaming in my opinion will rest on the shoulders of whoever ever buys out MSG when they end up going bankrupt. It could be someone good like iRacing/Monster Games or another grift similar to MSG. The success of the NASCAR event on Jailbreak (Roblox) shows that there is a demand for a good NASCAR game.
