- Testing out ATACS FG v Multicam v Pencott Greenzone in a forest environment. The Pencott Greenzone works exceptionally in a brighter environments, with the ATACS FG working in deep jungle better due to it's deeper shades, with the Multicam working well in most every environment if you just want to get one camo pattern and have no need to specify all your camo needs. ;)
I'm currently in northern S. Korea, and I've used FG on multiple occasions in brush, urban environments, and forest, and it's worked phenomenally well. When playing as OpFor, there have been times when I've only had minimal concealment and the blue force has stared straight at me and then moved on, allowing me to whack them a couple of seconds later. One time stands out in my memory where we ambushed the blue force along a road with heavy brush to either side. It was about 0630, and with the sun just rising, the color of the brush matched the color of my (very slightly faded now) ATACS FG so well that I was able to see them perfectly, and the only way they were able to track me, if at all, was because my rifle was black. I literally heard them shouting "where is he?!?!?!" several times. Just my $0.02.
ATACS was easily seen in all the test for me, multicam I missed twice, but must admit Pencott was the hardest for me to see. But hats are really small a shirt would have been nice to see. Still each one has their place and non are perfect for everything.

first test I saw FG first, had an disadvantage though due to a big shadow, which sticked out at first glance. second was MC.
second test MC first, FG second, Greenzone not until you zoomed on it. wow.
third test: FG an MC clearly visible on the stump, Greenzone like a part of nature. now I'm stunned.
I'd say Greenzone won, MC would work best in winter where I live, but still not as good as Greenzone, which is almost unbelievable. In summer it would almost stand out, when Greenzone really beats them all.
FG is not working at all. weird, it looks like it should, but it always sticks out. almost as ineffective as UCP if you ask me.

For great testing, do tops on people with neutral pants (Tan, ect) at 25 to 50 meters. After 100 meters the eyes turn everything into one color anyway.
In this area the top color is green and the forest floor has browns. So the best might be a combo of two for a patrol. However, when you take a knee everything changes and you stand out. Camo is needed the most on the move in the most exposed ground you will cover. Go Multicam.
Never saw the pencott until you zoomed in.
Sandstorm and Snowdrift are good too, Pencott has come up with some nice patterns, no question. My main issue is it comes from the UK so it costs more because of VAT and shipping. Its high quality though, no doubt.

Actually it looks fine, it has green in it. You cannot change how it looks in the environment. ;). This is directly from ATACS, so I am sure the print was not messed up as well.
Great video, as you said in the end it depends on the situation and where you are to say which one is best.
I could usually pick out the Atacs first at distance, Mulitcam, And then Pencott. I've never heard of Pencott before. Thanks for introducing me.
Your review was spot on. I was surprised how noticable the FG was in that environment. I wish more Tactical Equipment companies made more things such as Battle Belts and plate Carriers in good ol' Woodland. Many of our Special Operations Units are going back to it to use overseas.
I disagree, I think the Pencott was one of the best with the ATACS not being hid to well.

I felt that Pencott was best in everyone of those, Multicam came in second, followed by A-Tacs. I am in the western part of the United States and Multicam serves me the best.

Greenzone is good, and they have one called Badlands which tests out real good Fall/Winter.
Yea, I am unsure why there is a huge brown spot on the bill of the hat, if it wasn't there it would have been better I think.
All I have are my old Marine Corps issue uniforms in three color U.S. Woodland. I wonder how it would compare in a side-by-side against the multicam? I think I may even still have an olive drab cover tucked away in a closet that would make an interesting comparison with those others you used in that environment. Here in the high desert I just stick with the old three color, but I've considered trying the multicam and newer issue MARPAT.

I was seeing the Atacs first, I think because the tan in there is really light. The Multi showed up next. Then the greenzone. I was surprised by how bright and noticeable the atacs was.
Multicam is amazing... its hard to fathom why the army is testing new patterns when they already have a superior product in service. ATACS and Greenzone aren't horrible, but they do not compare with Multicam, its not even a contest.
The crazy part, There was a ninja holding them all up in every shot.

i was spotting the multicam frist, however that being said sometime different camo's can "pop" better to different sets of eyes then other sets of eyes.
personally given the choice between those 3 i would have to take the pencott greenzone
i have found multicam is very flexible in a wide variation of brush/forest/fields it seems to me that the atacs is meant for a more "sandy" then "wooded" environment
I would like to see some more actacs test. I really like it but would am not sure about it's capability. I would also like to see some krpytek in there as well. Thanks for the upload
First, I saw the PennCott, since I was looking at ground level for a human shape (wasn't expecting hats hanging on a tree). Second round was FG, and I didn't see the PennCott until you walked up to it.
I'd like to see how Flecktarn does in the same test.

For an all around great camo option, my vote is ATACS AU with Multicam as my second choice. I prefer a brown base... so if you need to add local foliage it balances overall, rather than sticking out like a green blob.
I seem to have picked out the ATACS FG each time. I think there might be a really dark spot on it or something. Tactical orange would work the best...no one ever pays attention to a guy wearing orange!
I have really been diggin the pencott greenzone and thinking of getting a shirt/ jacktet and hat but I would really like them to make a version where the bright almost neon green was a little more subdued. I know it blend well with vibrant greens in nature but a more faded olive drab would be better I think.
My eyes picked up the ATACS first, but I think it could have been because the greyish bandoleer/bungee thing sewn in stuck out so much.

They all work. Movement and noise will give you away, long before any difference in the camo. Throw on some natural vegatation and the difference will be even less. Again skill trumps gear.
1st Pencott GreenZone,2nd Multicam(Tropic's)3rd Kryptek Mandrake for Summer Woodland environment BUT you won't find that out hanging hat's on tree's guy's!. Even Woodland in the Summer is Transitional as you pass threw different scenery. Also if you really want to Taylor the best Camo for your invironent. As the forest floor is more light brown going darker as you hit the Base of the tree line then lighter green again as you rise.Therefore it's more complex than putting one Transitional and two fixed Camouflages together on a tree and saying "Which Do You see 1st!.Goodluck...
I would love to test it, just do not have any. I know it is more green than MARPAT, that is for sure. I am adding MARPAT to a future camo comparison though.

Not certain, I find MARPAT Woodland to be better as it has no black in it, like AOR2 does...

I always saw the Atacs first. Then the Pencott. Only ever saw Multicam as a silhouette. I still do not like Multicam, I am going to stick to my MarPat thank you.

I always like camo tests. Why didn't you have ACU in there? LMAO! Really camo changes so much anymore. One thing that irritates me is when great new camo comes out but it isn't offered with NIR technology like multicam unless it is now I haven't looked. I still like MARPAT in a lot of woods.

Honestly, I think this environment is just too bright for ATFG, I'd bet money that it would do /way/ better in a darker area.
ACU...lmao. MARPAT I am going to add in the future as well.
first round, atacs and pencott at almost the same time, second round, atacs. Last part none. Lesson to take away.....tactical black is best lol.
