I'm not invested in fishing, but the whole system feels weird to me. If you for example want to use the new +800% size or +150% rarity premium baits, you first need to catch a legendary fish in Brimstone, you salvage it into legendary bait so you can fish for fat salmon, you salvage the fat salmon into fish roe to craft fish sauce. You then craft the fish sauce and fish pheromones into the 800% size or 150% rarity premium bait, just to fish with a slightly better bait that won't give you back all those resources you just wasted, so much work for something that seems pointless to me. Not only that, but literally all the cooking recipes using fish usually have better and cheaper alternatives for the same attribute bonuses. Fishing is way too confusing for me, and it keeps me away from doing it.
in short a bullshit game that bullshits your time, why play it?
@@pierreracine128 Yeah, at least the fishing part of the game needs a huge rework from someone that has more than two braincells. Legendary fish should be something exciting and hard to find, with big rewards and useful recipes. With a BiS fishing set, BiS pole and 3 major trophies, you won't catch anything else than legendary fish from 3 star hot spots, most legendary fish currently sell for 5-25 gold. Imagine if you for example could get a golden fish that gives you 10k gold if you get one, with like a 1/200 drop chance from 3 star hot spots. They probably need to add some anti-macro mechanics to fishing too, so it's not possible to afk/ bot.
Great summary and I wish devs worked with creators like you to get fishing right…….
Worst part is it's not even strictly fishing, I've always been of belief AGS should make a 'player council's kinda thing of mix content creators and some reliable players to have meetings with to discuss and get feedback when designing these kind of changes to make the game more appealing in all parts
@@jamieapps6566 In the February Q&A Vlog, they claimed to already have a panel of 'Expert Players' they consulted with for game improvements. Of course, I've never seen anybody acknowledge that they're part of this council, or that they feel like it has had an impact on the game's design decisions. I remember when 5head discovered a way to quickly level up the Season Pass on the Season 1 PTR, they only contacted him due to their metrics data they found rather than the public RUclips guide he published about it.
Today I watched your old videos about how luck works and how they changed the loot tables for fishing in s2. I was going to sleep and got the notification for this video lol
I broke my neck to go from 0 - 200 fishing yesterday. I got 10 whole roe. Yeah very much not impressed after forking out all that gold for the gear and trophies. It's pretty dumb when you catch more legendaries than blues. At first I was excited then went to sell the legendary fish. Wah Wah not worth shit. LOL.
As a returning player to a fresh start server starting all over again this was exceptionally disappointing. Targeting anything but freaking common legendary fish is almost impossible now. I feel basically scammed by this patch when it comes to fishing.

Maybe it's whoever is in charge of all the "game play decisions"....never played an MMO in its entire life. Only reason I kept coming back to NW was for the fishing...it was fun. Haven't even seen a treasure chest in 4 weeks now.

Ya, I don't know what happened but some of the 'Hot' spots did not give any rare or better Fish most of the time even in Full Fishing gear w/ Bait. I am seeing a huge increase in small tapoles.

Yupp so irritated with what they did this past week. How badly they dropped the ball with fishing and music, the two main pillars of this event made me lose complete interest in it. I was so excited for this event last week since i missed it last year and was ready to grind hardcore and wanted to make fish trophies and get the cool spotlights but now the past 2 days i havent even logged in to do my cooldowns. Im sort of in a fuck it mindset and playing other games atm
I Agree with your Assessment of catching too many Legendary Fish. I started the Fishing quest on a New Toon at the 1st spot next to the Fishing NPC and the 2nd round of Fishing out that 1st Spot I hooked 14 Legends. I was only Fishing level 3 or 4 at the time. My 1st thought was as you said, it Felt "Not So Legendary" I remember a few months ago I was Hunting the 4 Legends for the Ultimate Fishing Trophy, (yes I know it's not in the game) I just wanted to have all the Resources for when & if it ever does get added. Hunting them down took me Multiple tries at a few different Spots but I did finally get them all. The one spot in Great Cleave south of Cleaves Point took me about a week to Hook the Legandary even once.
I have to imagine that the devs have never fished IRL and have no concept of specific baits for specific fish. Kinda like fly fishing with a minnow and youll catch a Marlin on a Wyoming river type nonsense.
There are a few times i recognise they change sth and it’s like that for a while, like the chest luck and things like that. Same was last year, don’t know when the change came, but fishing luck was unintentionally changed and you can’t get the fish you normally get after an update, but they changed it back outbid nowhere (both scenarios wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes). Same thing with 3 iron nodes in the north of weavers, event village is dropping and the nodes disappear (they are 300m away from the village) but they came back when the village got deleted after the event :D things like that happen sometimes and i think it might be the same in this scenario…
and the legendary bait: i would like to see have the bait be hard to craft but you can use it 100 times, so it feels like you crafted sole very special and rewsrding thing :)

I had watched your old video's in the past, then your newer one about targeting specific fish and could not get it to work... i'm not smart but am persistent and I was loosing my mind because they I was trying to target fish post the summer event. Thanks for what you do and keep up the good work.
makes sense why i caught 20 legendaries today but only 1 treasure chest of the wrong variant trying to complete the sunken treasure quest for the fishing quest line… great.
I am having the same issue. Takes for ever to get a chest (the punch card shows i caught a chest from fishing) The quest doesnt care, and i am doomed to keep fishing.

Have you fished in Edengrove outside of the Valor Hold stronghold recently?
That entire area gives sturgeon and paddlefish now, whereas it never did before (that I'm aware of).
I got 23 fish roe in 4 days fishing there alone.
I totally agree about the legendary fish, it's nothing to get all of them in a day or two fishing.
Pretty sad really (cool for others who may have never caught them before though, I'm sure)
Some spots you can even get multiple legendary fish from on the same hotspot timer.
The one in Weavers Fen to the left of the city in the waterfall below the ancients bridge, I caught 2 different types of legendary on the same hotspot timer.
That was something new to me.
I remember 7k plus hours ago when I had fished for months before even getting one legendary fish.
Lol.
Plus now, they are relatively cheap on the market vs back then (because they are no longer rare to catch)
Tadpole's and large salmon used to be a dime a dozen in
First Light, but that's not accessible, curious when it opens if it will be or still or not.
Anyhow, try that spot in Edengrove by Valor Hold (I just make a loop around the entire map there where all the lakes and waterholes are in that area.

Hi 5-Head, I've watched several of your videos with considerations of coming back to New World. I'm not sure which video would most likely get your attention and response so I am posting here in the hopes you will see this.
With regards to gathering professions, do you respec and move your home every time you commit to a specific gathering profession? Meaning, when you want to do Mining, you move your home to an area of the map where your route is best fitted AND respec everything into Strength.
It also sounds like if you plan to gather loads as your main active gold farming exercise, you should always hold onto several sets of profession gear.

The bow changes suck as well for me at least. Roll to gain 15% damage is now at the end cap and gives you a middle of the road feel to the bow now. What I mean is that, you can't be as strong in any tree because of how they mixed up the passives.... I love/hate the game and I'm afraid it is getting worse not better like it has been before seasons started. Oh well, love your videos just the same...

Explains why I caught 15 legendary fish yesterday in a 1 1/2 hour span, and that was from a tier 1 hotspot nonetheless.

I don't have much luck gear and i think I only have one minor trophy for fishing at home, and I have been catching quite a few legendaries just on the questline. Maybe try and fish at those spots you collect and hand in your fishing quests.

Today... while wearing only 3 tier 3 fishing clothing and the medley pole I caught 8... 8! legendary fish in a BROAD fishing hole.... no blues at all. ya BUSTED!
It is strange I pulled 7 legendary fish and 5 chests from a hotspot others its 3 chests and 4-6 legendary fish which are basically worthless. I also cant hang the sturgeon trophy unless i remove my combat and gathering ultimate trophies which means you are removing one of your fishing trophies.
i used to like to relax 10-20 mins fishing, now its a stress. i enjoyed it when i knew where to go get things when i needed them for crafting, including uncut gems.. those chests seem to be gone, replaced with fibres, green wood or iron which you can farm so easily in most zones... and the fish i once knew have vanished or become rarer than legendary fish :/ maybe they increased those for cooking who knows, but the potion making mats have dried up, so have gems.. mining doesnt drop as many either, just xp boosts which i dont really need... several slaps in the face even tho the idea of mixing it up was prob ok, the ratios are very bad for original drops & is replaced with new loot that is the same as i can gather in 30secs elsewhere :/ its almost infuriating !

I've been farming 2 days trying to get the sunken treasure chest to make a trophy out of it. Cannot for the life of me get one. I get every single treasure chest fishing wise going but not the one i need to make the event trophy. I've got max luck fishing gear with trophies and bait. 3 star hot spots i just get pure legendaries. I've tried taking pieces away or using no bait but i still cant get one. Im panicking that i wont get one before the event ends. any tips?

Anyone else not having Roe drop? I have caught probably over 50 sturgeon over the past 2 weeks and not a single roe has dropped

Using 3x 10% exp trophies didnt seem to give me more fishing exp duyring fishing.... havent tested with 1, but seem like the quickest way to get 10 aptitude is just buying the fishing crates from the faction vendor.
Fishing exp trophys works only from 0-200 fishing level.
with the cooking/fishing changes in Season 5...does fishing still SUCK????

I don’t think they are aware, no programmer is even doing fishing
70 casts = 70 premium bait = 0 fat salmon .
The only time I've caught fat salmon was using legendary (from salvaging the Brimstone legendary) bait in open water.
Fat Salmon only come from "Legendary Bait", not Premium Bait.

can you make an actual image guide to what you can catch per territory rather than reading it out in a video, or having to read the .txt file that you ripped from the ptr? like can you please get some effort to make this info easy to find and understand?
