More range, better route planner, battery heating while charging, better (and faster) voice recognition and faster charging will be coming with the 3.0 update as well. Those features are way more important than a parking assistant in my opinion.

The memory parking, how accurate is that. Like your example, would it just drive in and reverse the same distance as previous and say completed or would it actually take note of things like parking bays and park you mm perfect. I understand it remembering the turns that occurred but you are unlikely to pull in on the exact spot and hence I would think unlikely to end on the exact spot. Ie you pull in 30 cm more right then before so you are likely to be 30 cm to the right of the bay you ended up reversed into - is that correct?

Had the system in my old golf - for me, pointless gimmick - if you are bad at parking, go to car parks regularly then brilliant idea, I found it considerably slower and more time consuming than just doing it myself.

The only hard thing is if you dont know the car and cannot see the corners. Thats why I love 360* cameras - and with those I dont need any further assistance.
They should focus on the charging experience and route planning.

can't help but feel like being trolled by VW for being the early adopter and not buying a Tesla Model 3 instead.
OTA updates are useless if you need a whole new car to take advantage of the feature. They didn't learn anything from Tesla's success. Should have had those sensors there to begin with and enabled them via OTA. Instead if the software ever comes out it won't do anything but add features you can't take advantage of. Pretty disappointing.

The last feature should be default at all times, so like the 6-series BMW which continually remembers last 50 meters. Idea there is that you can always reverse out of the spot where you're, lets say a tight parking garage where you have to manoeuvre out

  • @catalicos

Seems those new features won't help much with tight parking spaces in garages. Well maybe that becomes a function in a later release.
At least judging from the demo the features will help inexperienced drivers. Hope I can eventually test it myself when my car gets finally produced. 😩

@@computerbob06 If only that was the only cause to wonder. It's also hard to understand why the phone app is so bare bones when they already had a ready one with plenty of features. They had a working steering wheel, but opted to go with the horrible touch buttons in the ID line. They added lighting to ALMOST all buttons, but of course not the ones under the touch screen - good luck guessing where to push in the dark. Plus they are so close to the touch screen you almost always accidentally hit one or the other while trying to access the screen. EVERY SINGLE ONE of these is done better in a Golf. So why re-invent the wheel? And why make it even worse?

@@BatteryLife It's not the tires I'm concerned with ... it's the steering gear. I have always been told to always be slowly moving forward or backward when making turns since cranking the steering wheel while stationary puts major strain on the steering components, and on a heavy car like an ID.4 will be even worse.

Hugely disappointed at a basic feature being limited only to cars not yet built. And the ones that have are already obsolete after less than a year of existence. At the same time other VW dinos have this feature and have had it for ages. eGolf, too. The same thing with the WeConnect ID with it's single feature, turning on heating remotely.
I thought I made a good choice going for VW instead of Tesla. Regretting it now. Now I just need to find someone to buy my maxed out ID.3 so I can get a Model Y. Oh well. Lesson learned.

Owned the car for almost a year and now WHOOA, they are relesing the new update 2.4 that really should be a damn silent fix. How about 3.0? Is really second half of ’22 a ”when”? Besides it seems that most of us will only be enjoying seeing the % of battery since were early adopters and hoping for the higher charge speed to be applicable
