I was quite sad that no fragrance from L’art and la Matiere made me go wow from the first sampling, but today I received a sample of Oud Khol and here it is the WOW, it’s stunning. I am not the fan of oud in general, my only other oud fragrange is oud silk mood from mfk. Oud Khol made me sniff my arm the whole evening, the blend is extremly well done and when I thought it can’t possibly impress me more, the drydown is to die for.
A shame indeed - L’Art et la Matière contains some of the best scents ever created in perfumery: Cuir Béluga, Bois d’Arménie, Tonka Impériale, Angélique Noire, Spiritueuse Double Vanille, Embrûns d’Ylang, Néroli Outrenoir to name just a few. The newer entries pale in comparison to these. But that’s just my opinion. 🤷🏽♂️ Oud Khôl, while the best of the three ouds, has nothing on Bois d’Arménie, for instance.
For me, these were very disappointing and smelled chemical. I was also anosmic to Oud Nude. Not saying they are any more “chemical” than any other perfume, but this happens to me with a lot of modern, mainstream and trendy perfumery. I think it’s because of the use of certain aroma chemicals or at least heavy use of these. L’Art et la Matiere was not like this before, certainly not in their resinous, vanilla and incense perfumes that had those beautiful fixatives instead. Ah well…
I somewhat agree. In the sense these do not belong in the l’Art et la Matière, they are simply not crafted the same and do not follow the idea of the collection. Possibly with the exception of Oud Khol. Even so, just like Pao Rosa, they belonged in Les Absolus. Cheaper, more for the mainstream, more aromachemicals. That being said, they are still infinitely more delicate than most “chemical” fragrances out there, to such an extent i can’t even compare them honestly
@@MemoryFlo I wish I could appreciate that. With this particular perfumery style, it’s as if I am unable to smell what other smell or I’m nose blind. Other times I’m very bothered by the scent and must scrub it off. This never happens for example with the classic Guerlains. I may not see myself wearing everything but it’s always interesting to smell at the very least. Thanks for your reviews :)
Oud khol is challenging and innovative, people dismissing it are just stuck in the past, i agree its worthy of the collection
Oud Khol is amazing!Totally deserve the name of L’art & la matiere.💙💙
It really is!
Oud khol is similar to nasomatto nudiflorum which i also love
