He did have a lot of skill issues and his spec build was average, World of Roguecraft by Mute (made around the same time) showed a much higher quality Rogue Gameplay where victory was achieved by skill and not by being overgeared and targeting PVE players. I myself played Rogue and Mage from 2004 to 2009 and my "mentors" were Mute and Vurtne, those two were the real top players ahead of their time.
Ps: Grim video were still entertaining because of his skills as a video editor and his music choice.

I love the people trying to compare Grim to today's competitive players that down bottles of aderall with 7 billion dpi mice and main lining energy drinks. Grim was just a guy that knew his class far better than most and excelled at what he did. And he made one hell of an entertaining pvp video, which most will never do, let alone reach legend status.

@@NineBreakerUIXB If I remember right, ambush took more energy than bs and cold blood was a waste on ambush with its bonus crit. There was some items tho that could boost your energy levels and you could do pretty insane tricks with, Renataki's Charm of Trickery&Thistle Tea. Back then wow was very unbalanced but I kinda liked it, it had that D&D vibe with rogues being very deadly and stuff like that.
Due to it constantly being Content ID Flagged I was finally able to edit this and reupload it. Unfortunately, couple songs had to be turned into instrumentals but the same music is still in the video. Hope you enjoy and hopefully I wont have to reupload it again.

I fought Grim when I had a knight commander lvl 60 human mage on Sylvanas. He killed me once and I killed him once. He was every bit as slippery as the videos suggest but he never uploaded our fights in any video that I ever saw. He did have a sense of honour though... later in the day I met him as I was riding through I forget where, and he was on virtually no health having just ganked someone so I stopped and bowed on horseback to acknowledge a worthy adversary and went off questing. later I ran into two well kitted warlocks (instant death) as they feared me from horseback... suddenly Grim pops out of stealth near by and calls them off in hoardish and they let me go. Great days. Bomblack says hi.
Thats amazing on so many levels.. what a game it was.

I can tell because i myself was one of the top rogues in TBC and Grim wasn't even top 1k in s1 and s2. I think you don't really know what you are talking about.
Marc Actually, I do know what I'm talking about. There were a few rogues back in vanilla who could stand up to or even take out almost any class without even using their gear.

I wished that they would stage a world showcase of the greatest pvpers of vanilla in a video.. sad this never panned out.. would've payed money to see this.. grim, vurtne, drakedog, laintime. those four are the players who inspired me to play the game for such a long time..(beta to start of draenor). since that didn't happen.. I wish the heroes of the storm devs could make famous pvpers into heroes.. now that's be dope.

This video is the reason I stopped leveling my druid at 30 and rerolled as a rogue in 2006.
There r plenty of elitest ppl here that will never be satisfied with any vanilla video. These videos were set back in the day when everyone was shit. So just enjoy the video understand that when classic comes out there will be better skilled videos out there simply cuz its 15 years later and ppl have gotten better.

Back in vanilla wow. I mained a priest, and an alt warrior tank. I had a mage and rogue that i mostly played for pvp. I remember watching both this vid and path of blood. I dumped DKP just so my rogue could get Perdies. After that i literally abandoned my guilds Naxx runs on my mains. Just to pvp on my rogue. For the last 6 months of vanilla. I probably spent like 75% of my time ganking randoms on my rogue. The other 25%, i spent on my priest, playing shadow in BGs.
Much respect for you. You're a legend and one of the very few who mastered the rogue skill of stunlocking. "FOR THE HORDE"!!! Nice editing and music choice was very enjoyable to watch.

This is one of the sickest and most OG rogue PvP clips there are. Pleasure watching. Leveling my rogue on Dreadmist now. Anyone know what poisons he's using? I noticed he used mindnumbing on both vs one of the warlocks and then mostly crippling in the AV clip? Double instant vs warrior or?
EDIT: I'm guessing the mind numbing vs stuff like locks is to slow them down enough so they don't have time to fear you when they coil so you have time to vanish?

The entire server of Al'Akir is barren. Silithus - shattered, STV - abandoned, Gurubashi - even more so, AV - played once a month. Even the tree he jumped from is now ashes. Vanilla WoW might come back, but I doubt I'll ever have as much fun as I did watching this and trying to be as good as he was.
Well let's hope he gets as nostalgic as we in the comments get and comes back on vanilla's release. I myself want to try my luck against him. You hear that Grim? I want a /duel!

okay simple question, did the editor mess up the builds/specs in this video? i see in @3:47 says 31/8/12 whilst i can see that he was using Adrenaline rush, and adrenaline rush is minimum 30 points to be reached......or is it combat was in the far left back in the days??
To my knowledge rouges got a major talent revamp at 1.12 and it is possible that this video was done before that.

that was the reason to play world of warcraft... feeling nostalgic feeling the mystery and exploring stuff... its so far away from most of the things the game is today
God this video got me to start playing sword rogue into SUB during TBC. I really miss those days. Didn't like the changes to rogue in Wrath. Even though rogues were still really good. Even lv'ed up my engineering to have the same toys Grim used. Great times.
