so if im 6'5" with a 7 foot wingspan i can still bend my arms in the snatch because hip contact is impossible - got it

Hi guys, I started weighlifting today for the first time. I decided to learn the clean first, than the jerk, than try the snatch. But i see many youtube videos that say to learn the snatch first... What do you advice to me? I started with the clean because i like it more visually.

From what I'm aware most if not all coaches teach the snatch first. I don't remember the reason for this but from my perspective I find the snatch to be so much easier than the c&j so starting from there was far better for me.
If you're self taught I would say to watch as much content as possible and to film your lifts to check form. If you are able to, post your videos onto the weightlifting subreddit for a different opinion on your lifts as they'll tell you straight what is good & bad.

I’m struggling with the contact, when I do cleans I have the tendency to hit mid thighs which I’m trying to fix. I’m 5’9 a bit taller than average female weightlifters and have heard some coaches (on youtube) say that the training and certain stands varies, the length of the legs, arms etc. not that is a challenge because there are tall weightlifters that are great but yeah, there are adjustments that need to be done. Seeing that you are tall would be good if you have any advice ✨

do clean pulls and focus on moving the bar as fast as possible + making contact higher.
